Top 8 match in doubt

Courtesy of futaa.com

AFC Leopards SC will not honor their rescheduled Kenyan Premier League (KPL) Top Eight Cup fixture against Gor Mahia FC, on Sunday 29 July, at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

In an exclusive interview with futaa.com, Secretary General Winston Kituyi said that even after rescinding their earlier decision not to honor the match, the organizers (KPL) did not consult them over the fixture’s date.

Not consulted

-As it stands now, the truth of the matter it that we are not there and we will not honor that match on Sunday. Our concern was that, since this match was postponed, it was our desire that KPL would have called both teams (AFC-Gor) on a round table to discuss and come-up with appropriate date that suits both of us, he said.

-But unfortunately nobody bothered about it, they just came up and said okay, since Tusker are going to play CECAFA we can reschedule the fixtures and in-between you can put the Super Eight match.

-I consulted with my people and they are not happy and the even the chairman who gave an okay that we should play, should have been consulted and at least agree on the date. They don’t just come and say, this is the date and therefore we play.

Financial issues

-You know very well AFC is experiencing a lot of problems, at the moment we don’t have money; somebody filed a case in the court and we can’t access the bank account. We are operating from our own pockets and that is why we need time to prepare the team.

-We presented our budget to KPL and told them, if they wanted us to play they have to tell us in good time and explain to us how we are going to meet the costs of this arrangement, something that’s not forthcoming.

-We would like them to call us together with Gor, sit down and agree on the date; most likely at the end of the season. We can still honor this match. Remember this is not a friendly match, it is a serious match that if you lose it is over and if you win you will go places. So, we take this match very seriously.

-Also putting in consideration the history of these two clubs on what happens whenever we play.We don’t want to disrupt the psychological impact of both teams, just because something ugly is going to happen.

-As far as we (AFC) are concerned, we are not there. We have discussed widely and I have written a letter to KPL about the same. I am waiting for their feedback. Everybody is busy preparing for the league and we would like our players and coaches not to have excuses, that’s if only both of us (AFC-Gor) will be invited on a round table and agree on suitable date, insisted Kituyi.

I read mind games in this. At the end of the day Efusi will still turn up for the match anyway.

Team Gor Mahia do not be duped by this cheap gimmick. Keep focus on the Sunday match and maintain that state of preparedness.

@ Barefoot Bandit i watched AFC playing the under 20 H.STARS and I am still wondering on how long they will hold on position 1 of the 2012 KPL season. My comrade from EFUSI clearly agreed to the fact GOR MAHIA is actually “Moto ya kuotea mbali sana” and the writing is on the wall.

No wonder all KPL teams have bought the video of our match against city stars to try and learn something out of it. That is the talk every where be it FM stations or elsewhere. AFC knows the bitter truth that they can no longer hold on at the summit of KPL after the next five matches as a matter of fact. Those boys humiliated the EFUSI yesterday until koops had to bring in his first eleven so as to restore some pride.

AFC have pulled out on the strength of their letter after KPL shifted our match against ULINZI and it is very bad for the Kenyan football. That is cowardice and shameful.

  • I CONCUR WITH THE BARE FOOT BANDIT, EFUSI MAY BE PLAYING MIND GAMES WITH US AND THEN HIT US BELOW THE BELT BY AGREEING AT THE LAST MINUTE TO PLAY.
LET US NOT RELAX BUT CONTINUE WITH OUR PREPARATIONS WITH THE FULL KNOWLEDGE THAT THE MATCH IS ON.
OTHERWISE IT WILL BE AN ACT OF COWARDICE ON THE PART OF THE SHEMEJIs IF THEY DON’T HONOUR THE MATCH.

I support the above sentiments, they’ve time and again used this on their opponents especially on the availability of their key players who would eventually play,we need to maintain the focus.
As expressed by one of us in an ealier blog about efusi’s plan to hack down our players, this should be an issue of concern having watched afc play against us during Koops reign,In the 1st leg of last season when we trounced them 3-1 you can remember Gatutso being Hacked by Barasa,Come 1st Leg this season Imbalambala did it on Rama and ensured that he left the pitch, if anybody watched their game against Sofapaka, then you would concur with me that Imbalambala perfected it on Miano and should have been sent off, therefore Whether rumours or not am concerned.

  • Ogango got it! These guys camp for weeks only to register some lucky 1-0 score line every day. They have 4 goals in the second leg, we have 10 and the Ulinzi game was postponed.

The team needs to prepare for AFC or any other opponent. We as the Green Army we are always prepared. It is not only AFC that is now afraid. We are likely to witness so much noise now that we are rising. Some may even work with game officials to ensure we are banned again. How come our problems started with the AFC game in the first leg?

Please, please, those who are hooligans this is the time to reform. The team needs stability and support from the haters.

  • I don’t understand when AFC say they are broke then board a plane from Kisumu to Nbi and even camp when meeting Karaturi. But when it comes to GM for a match played in NBi they cannot afford. So what is actually their reason? Is it brokeness, lack of consultation, lack of preparedness, fear of the (un)known or internal issues in the club? I know KPL needs the money from this derby to organise their house and also to organise the U19 tourney but must Effusi hold them hostage? Life has to continue and we are not dying to meet them so let KPL schedule their match against Tusker this weekend and our game against Ulinzi as well. We will then see if they will skip the game and forfeit the three points. Romour has it that Wanga is going for trials in SA and will not be available over the weekend, hence their reaction. Let’s all remember them saying that they were ready for the match, until they got the tape of game against City Stars and hence the change of mind. The decision was also enforced with their loss yesterday to the U20. Anyway, let’s wish Shemejis the best in sorting out their internal problems because without them the kenyan football scene lacks some exitement since that rivalry is what spices the local game

If Efusi are scared of Gor because they want the game postponed, were gor scared of Ulinzi when the requested their game with them on Wednesday?

  • it’s not mind games , these guys just know they will loose. if u’ve watched their last three games, even them, they know gor will twanga their heads. they were literally given the city stars match, lost to under twenty etc. i wish the ulinzi game was never postponed. and this super eight seems to be one big empty balloon.. it’s needs a major sponsor otherwise do away with it. it’s simply an fkf tournament to make them look like they are doing something about kenya soccer. gor, we want the league… and afc, pls note that u will not be able to escape the league encounter with gor wether u have money or not. even though i have always wished afc the best… pls note how gor is managing it’s affairs and follow suit otherwise the afc bubble is bound to burst soon.and how does one just match to the court and funga the afc accounts, what kind of supporters do these guys have who would rather injure the players lives than take up their diffs in other appropriate ways. sauchi…

@ Dan you have got it right! KPL is playing hostage to AFC because they require some funds out of this derby. BY sunday Koops acknowledged that they will honour the match knowing very well that GOR would have been badly exhausted by playing KPL league matcg against ULINZI on wednesday.

But immediately K’Ogalo to have ULINZI match rescheduled is granted , the cowardice AFC quickly arranged for a friendly with Under 20 and get humiliated at “TOK KOMWANDA” and as such they have sensed a windfall of defeats coming there way.

The best way forward is to consult both clubs since the league is at the most delicate stage with first six teams being presumed as title contenders.

Reschedule the postponed GOR Vs ULINZI to sunday at CITY STADIUM and let AFC play TUSKER sunday at NYAYO as earlier scheduled and let see if they will abscond due to their flimsy reasons. AFC should remember that they just got back to TOP FLIGHT FOOTBALL just the other day after being whisked out through corruption and favor.

KEEP POLITICS OUT OF FOOTBALL MATTERS ; GOR VS AFC IS NOT AN ELECTION DATE THAT POLITICIANS KEEPS LEFT, RIGHT & CENTRE.

Guys with the kind of political environment we are experiencing as kenyans from all walks of life , coupled with the changing tides and fortunes in the KPL league championship, there is no way the forces of IMPUNITY and STATUS QUO will let K’Ogalo carry the day this sunday against their perennial rival with the BARCELONA “Tiki Taka” football maestro that we leave the green army yelling for “BABY COME BABY”.

As much as you will blame me for speaking my mind but my guess is as good as yours. We know who MAGELO paymaster are and why on earth should he see K’Ogalo rocking the boat after they flopped in “peeling back the mask”. AFC ran BABY ran! TUNA SIJA KPL.

@OGANGO TRAILER politics aside gor is reloaded and let us take Barefoot Bandit advice @1 seriously. This could be some very clever mind games to disorganize Logurasic plans. The coach is already complaining in FUTAA.COM that the fixture changes are disrupting his training schedules.

He was ready to face ULINZI today but our EC insisted on demanding postponement which was timely accepted. But then suddenly the LEOPARD has chickened out when LOG had planned to take our players through some swimming fitness to relax their muscles.

LET THE MATCH BE PLAYED. KPL,AFC & GOR SHOULD REACH SOME MUTUAL AGREEMENT AS THE CONCERNED PARTIES FOR THE SAKE OF LOCAL SOCCER BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND BEYOND.

  • Bloggers stop buying into mind games of EFUSI. These are mind games and brokeness as highlighted by Magelo does not hold water at all. Let us wait to meet them and compare Koop and Logarusic.

  • KPL have just confirmed that the game will be played. So what happens if AFC don’t honour the game since there is nothing to lose? Let’s wait and see. Unfortunately they have boxed themselves and it will be difficult to come out. I think the coach should go on with his plan and avoid the side shows (or is it Sukuti) from Shemejis.

The AFC’s excuse can not hold water. They want to create a scenario before the match so that after beating them by bigger margin they’ll say they had financial problems. Watch this space, if AFC shows up for this game we’ll disapprove their defense and tell them to go to the drawing board…GM is the team to watch; no doubt.

Kasarani Sports Complex is KISIRANI to entire “CATS FAMILY IN THE DEN” since the google map location compass indicates that it is facing the famous river CHANIA towards “MT kenya” to the north,”OLE-MAASAI MARA” to the south and “KANYAMWA ESCARPMENT JO-NDHIWA INSIDE” to west and “GOT-RAMOGI” in western southern border past nam “LOLWE”. REVENGE!!! REVENGE!! REVENGE!!

  • Mumias, please help AFC. Your brand is taking a beating. It looks like a brand for cowards. TUZO milk is too much for your sugar. The team is left for Kidero to keep giving his political handouts.

The reality is that the sponsorship you announced involves the sponsor taking care of expenses. Is Mumias broke? When you hosted the team last week to prepare for Karuturi there was no mention of being broke. The AFC home ground is Nyayo and you even had enough change to transport the whole team to Mumias. Why is the team so broke after a few days.

Sponsorship is about branding and branding is about your image and what it stands for.

Anyone buying time thinking that K’Ogalo’s form will dip with time is very mistaken. Run yes, but you can never hide.

The form we are in currently is not a flash in the pan. It took brains, bold decisions, radical surgery, pain, self-sacrifice and patience. It is a form that cannot be whiled away with flimsy excuses. We are in this for the long haul and whoever is suggesting to our in-laws to boycott the match is simply postponing their pain.

Efusi please this is just a game; just a sport: you come we spank you and you live to fight another day. Not so long ago you spanked us 3-0 and we took it graciously…Come on sons of mulembe! Nabongo Mumia was never a coward. Hon. Alfred Sambu was never a coward. The great Wilberforce Mulamba was never a coward neither was Micky T9 Weche. Come on….

We have only whipped a few teams and it is already mayo ti achiedh nade (pandemonium) with the leading pack all over the place running helter skelter.
Like Isaiah son of Amos, we saw these coming.

As bloggers and GM fans lets just sit back and enjoy as the ‘come baby come’ brand sends pretenders to the title scampering.

    Mashemeji,

When Gor’s striker was asked to train with the under 23 national team, your coach went to the training ground and literally plucked him off the team because there was little notice given to Gor. Now that Ingwe is asking for proper notice for a high profile game, you are now all complaining.

Like Mambo mbotela used to say, “Je huu ni ungwana?”

  • Just wondering what AFC’s excuse is. Mara it’s lack of money (not forgetting that they camped in Mumias and flew from Kisumu and Kidero has been personally rewarding them), then it’s ‘we were not consulted’, then we want to concentrate on the league (yet at the same time registering for FKF cup), then Gor were not punished last time. So which is which? Why not just say that you were interested in the match (when u were on form and GM was struggling) before but in the last few weeks you think you can’t handle the pressure. I think for the sake of harmony they gracefully pull out and KPL arrange their game with Tusker and us with Ulinzi over the weekend. I now pity Wepekhulu. After training his boys the Chair calls him to say the game is off. What a way to run (or is it ruin?) a club. makes our EC look like ‘angels’

  • WHAT NEXT?

First, allow me to send my heartfelt condolences to the people of Ghana, the National Democratic Party ( NDP)for the passing of their late president John Atta Mills through a short illness bravely borne.

Before we start throwing barbs to our brothers and sisters, let us first prosecute the reasons they are advancing not to honor the top 8 fixture scheduled for the 29th July.

Speaking on phone to a popular sports radio station this morning, AFC Leoards chairman, Alex ole Magelo confirmed they willnot honor the fixture due to cash crunch at the club. This he said was a result of several court cases that barred his committee to access the club accounts. Do we have a reason to doubt his statement? What about the secretary general sentiments?

The other day, the entire AFC Leopards during a press conference bitterly complained that they will never again play with us untill certain conditions are met including security assurance. Is this shifting of goal posts ?

It is sad fans like comrade jb comments should be left unchallenged. On his earlier comment, he made a very alarming shot that ingwe are planning to hack ( to use his word) our sensational striker, Rama Salim. This comments are the ones that always raise tensions before such a high security risk match. If you have any information, please volunteer the information to the relevant security organs involved in the planning of the derby. Or else, our security personel investigate YOU for these reckless comments.
