Anse Re-Union applauds Gor Mahia
Gor Mahia left an impression on their hosts following their emphatic win over Seychellois side Anse Re-Union. The hosts had very high hopes after unexpectedly holding Gor Mahia to a draw in Kenya.
Anse Reunion coach Juel Ah-Kong: “Gor Mahia were much superior than my team and they made it very difficult for my team especially as they scored early and we just could not cope with them. However, this competition served as a good experience for my team and we hope we will learn from this experience.”
Roderick Rose of Anse Reunion: “Gor Mahia are a very strong team with better technical players and we lacked a holding midfielder. We found it difficult to cope with them as was the case in Kenya. We are disappointed especially after a good away result. We had hoped for a better performance and result as we were at home in front of our supporters.”
The goals
Moses Odhiambo “Dube” played a corner to Raphael Mugai Klongera who let fly his shot from the edge of the penalty and the ball crashed against the foot of the post to roll past the desperate dive of goalkeeper Ricky Rose to give the Kenyans a stunning 1-0 lead.
Gor Mahia extended their lead in the 17th minute after some good approach work by Musa Mohamed who cut inside from the right to Edwin Jumba who linked up with Klongera, whose fierce shot crashed into the roof of the net as he completed his brace to make it 2-0 for his team.
Four minutes later, Gor Mahia were at it again as Ouma played a short corner to Mohamed who floated the ball to the far post to Ivan Anguyo who had sneaked in unmarked. Anguyo’s downward header found refuge in the net for a 3-0 lead.
Gor Mahia extended their advantage on the hour mark as Lavatsa collected a high ball to roll it to substitute Kevin Omondi who then threaded a pass to the same Lavatsa who raced towards goal to spring Anse Reunion’s offside trap and dribble past the advancing goalkeeper Rose to bury the ball into an unguarded net for a 4-0 score.
The final goal came in the 74th minute as Ivan Anguyo combined with substitute Danny Muzeyi who raced to the byeline before pulling the ball back to Kevin Omondi who guided his header into the net for a 5-0 scoreline.

One game at time.I believe k’ogalo is able to go all the way to the final.What we must now do is to ensure that we have consistency in the TPL and try to beat all teams in TPL without drawing bcos we r able to do that.I also would like to ask the EC to try and avoid Nyayo stadium bcos I’ve realized that Nyayo is not a good hunting ground for Gor.We hardly win at Nyayo and if we do we strugle to win.so take note of that EC. Otherwise K’ogalo iko juu. Gor biro! yawne yoo!

Congratulations to Mahia. As Read this story, I realized that my muscles were getting tighter as if I was watching it live. Am trying to relive the experience,can some body who was there tell me something about the kenyans who were cheering them on. How was the atmosphere before, during and after the match.Did they do it as kenyans or as people from a region?
This is how GOR started their campaign in 1987.The best was when they beat Dragons of Benin at NYAYO to move to the finals against Esperance of Tunisia. GOR have a very good away record….People today just don’t understand how GOR scared the hell out of teams in this region.At some point you had at least 4 good players competing for the same position.For Number 11 for instance you had Anthony Ndolo, Onyango Jogoo and Peter Pierre Otieno.
