Attendance for Champions League match was only 1508
Only 1508 fans attended the CAF champions League match pitting Gor Mahia against Leones Vegeterianos last weekend. And according to goal.com, the match raised only Sh363, 100 in gate collection, of which Gor Mahia only banked Sh113, 448 after all the deductions that include Sh249, 632, paid to Wells Fargo.
The report states that 205 fans paid to sit at the VIP section, fetching the club Sh102, 500 while the terraces recorded the highest amount in revenues with Sh260, 600 being collected from the 1, 303 fans.
This comes despite strong efforts by a section of the fan base to bring fans back to the stadium using the hashatag #Jazastadi.
And it comes at a time when Gor Mahia future sponsorship with Sportpesa is uncertain.
Today in 2018, Gor Mahia are playing very good football, much better than during the period between 2009 and 2013 when they attracted huge crowds despite playing average football. Are the fans taking the club for granted now?
It will take a lot of effort between fans and officials to brings fans back. So far the initiatives to bring fans back have mostly been led by other fans. The club officials have been missing in action.
The people in power seemingly don’t want any success at Gor because they closed the stadiums used by Gor & AFC thus denying some of us who have gone almost a year without watching Gor play in Nairobi as we used to. Closing City Stadium was in bad faith then later Nyayo & the renovation takes forever. The fans build their base from Nairobi going out but that’s no more. Again imposing a tax on sportpesa was in bad faith given that it has settled nerves within the community clubs even though they should have had one on one chart to see what could be done. # Deny them everything.
We need to perhaps have a PR wing that can market Gor games beyond social media.
We also need to have reduced gate charges especially when we have to incur travelling costs.
Though in my opinion it will take much more than the above to jaza stadii.But the initiative is very good!!
Personally i will not be attending Gor Mahia local matches-Nime choka na KPL title. Am tired with KPL championship Tagline and if K’ogalo can not reclaim continental glory “basi wawere kapodi wa herore”.
Gor Mahia as a brand is no longer attractive or worth spending my time and money in the name of KPL championship which i find it so old school and boring beginning with the clubs administrative structure and the monopolized leadership to the extent that am so much switched off.
Unless the product “GOR MAHIA” is urgently re-branded with trendy and modernized style of doing business that can storm CONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP then i will slowly but gradually be heading for a disengagement with things to do with K’Ogalo.

Eti Gor received 113k and Wells Fargo received 249k? How are these gate collections divided among the stakeholders?

And taking matches to Machakos is costly to traveling fans. Mombasa Road jam is a discouraging factor. Kisumu would have attracted a larger crowd.
But you know very well the Kisumu can not host CAF or FIFA matches!
By closing all stadia in Nairobi, they tactically “killed” the mobs, it was calculated very neatly and they are not opening them any soon. Who would want those highly charged mobs moving around insulting all on their way. Solution? Have excuses to close those bloody stadia and scatter them
You paid governor mutua ksh 1 million for nothing. You should have played this game in Kisumu
Riaga please note that Kisumu can’t host any CAF and FIFA matches. What can we do? Our governors are busy eating but not focusing what can promote youth welfare. Where is Nyongo? where is Awiti? Rasanga? Obado?
1. Kisumu is not approved for CAF matches so those yapping about Kisumu should understand this.
2. I have attended all matches this season and attendance has been painfully low(save for the Super Cup) but there were more than 2000 fans in Machakos so someone is already stealing!!!
3. What is the rationale of paying Wells Fargo double the ammount the club banks?
We could have raised much more if we had played at Buhkungu in Kakamega.Unless it is a derby,Nairobi fans No longer attend Gor Matches.The EC should consider “devolving”our matches to Western and Coast.If the venue was Mbaraki Grounds I can assure you we could have fetched much more.
The team is forgotten; look even at the jersey;ni ya last year
