Austin Oduor Origi is remembered as one of the most illustrious footballers that Kenya has ever produced. In a career that spanned over a decade, the player popularly known as “Makamu” starred for both Gor Mahia and the national team Harambee stars, captaining both sides and leading both Gor Mahia and Harambee stars to their best ever performances at continental level.

Great post; one of my favorite players ever. This brought back so many memories from that era – scintillating tiki taka-style soccer, endless edge-of-the-seat AFC rivalry, guaranteed full stadiums. So thankful I got to experience it and hopefully Kogalo will replicate the continental success in the near future. Thanks for this!

One of the club’s greatest. I have documented 30 goals he scored for Gor Mahia in competitive matches (League, continental and FA Cup) to make him the club’s highest scoring defender ever.
Great player,one of the greatest sweepers i have ever watched.I can’t forget 1988 WCQ in nyayo stadium how he cancelled George Weah out of the game and later in Cairo in the same WCQ group putting Hossam Hassan the great Egyptian striker to no effect

I had the privilege of watching Makamu during his playing days. Arguably the best defender Gor and Kenya has ever produced.
