Awilo accosted by Fans

Star Africa reports that captain and long serving defender, Julius Owino “Awilo” , was attacked by fans at the clubs training ground at Moi Forces academy and escaped narrowly

The ‘hooligans” whom Awilo claimed they are familiar attacked him accusing him of bringing ‘bad omen” to the team whenever he travels to upcountry.

Awilo was saved by the club team Cameroonian born Assistant coach  Anaba Awono and team Doctor Sam Ogutu who shielded him from further punishment.

Awilo said on phone that he has always remained faithful to the club adding that his accusers should know that he is among the least paid players in the club and has never complained since he loves the club.

“They accused me, added Awilo, for fictitious issues that does not exist in my mind.I have never gone behind the club to do anything harmful to the team. My life has centred on this great and glamour team.I fail to understand why I should be blamed for the team’s dismal performance. Before I went to upcountry, I even informed the club management including our chairman Ambrose Rachier. It pains me that during my absence,I am blamed for the team’s  debacle.’ noted Awilo.

‘I’m the most affected  player, added Awilo, when  the team loose a match.I sacrifice a lot for the club.I have remained loyal  to the team.I’m deeply affected by the recent action since I don’t know  what will happen  to me tomorrow’ said he.

Awilo who is perhaps the longest serving player in the team said he never reported the matter to the police since there are proper mechanism to follow in the club. “I have informed the club management about the incident so that they can follow it up.I know some of the scouts who attacked me and truly, I believe the truth will come out’ Observed Awilo.

The team’s latest performance has raised eyebrows .The club technical bench led by head coach Zedekiah:”Zico’Otieno has been summoned to appear before the club’s executive on Tuesday September 20 to explain the team’s poor performance.

This sad episode is in poor taste for a player like Awilo who has shown great loyalty to the club and played for the club when it was in the doldrums.

Those are criminal who never went to school and have no work.sorry for Awilo on behalf of true fans who have been with you ever since.

  • @Ataly these are the same goons who make the stadium unsafe for the children and ladies who would like to watch GM games. Why do some people think they are more Gor than others? I would not be surprised that these are the ones who only came back to the stadium after GM started performing well. Now I understand the saying that a few rotten apples soilt the whole basket. By the way these are pure criminal activities and should be treated as such. I wish they could be locked in so that the rest can have a peacefull weekends where we can enjoy watching GM matches and go home in peace irrespective of results. When @Kosero points to this in his mails we always condemn him but looks like he points out some bitter truth which we are not ready to swallow. By the way when do these guys build the nation (work)? The players in their training sessions are actually at work and it’s like going to disrupt some in their place of work. Very shameful behaviour

these are not fans, these are thugs, and should be reffered and treated as such!they should face the full force of the law.awilo’s game has plumetted of late due to age and lack of regular games, but that is natural and normal.lets’ not forget that of the current players,he is the longest -serving player, always humble and he was there even during the leanest of times.is this how we treat our loyal players?these idiots should be rounded off and locked up immediately.awilo pole sana.
dan,not evryone going to watch training is a hooligan or doesnt’ have something to do,some of these trainings are in the evenings when people have finished work.besides when a big match is coming up,so many people turn up to watch these sessions

Pole Awilo, BTW a lot of side shows are being created at K’galo. How do you blame one player for the clubs poor perforamce. As far as am aware Awilo is not even a regular Ist team player anymore. As someone once said to not loose sight of the antelope becoz a squirel crossed ua path b focussed Ziko is the problem. More so why we need a professional continental head coach who has no time for such rubbish.

AFETRC HEARING FROM DAN AND ARUM TIDI THEN IM CONVINCED SOMETHING IS COMPLETELY WRONG WITH THE WAY WE DO THINGS. IF OUR TRAINNING SESSION ARE OPEN TO ALL,WHAT CAN STOP OUR OPPONENTS FROM COMING TO SPY ON US.IM A COACH AND ID SAY ONE THING TACTICALLY GOR MAHIA IS VERY GUD BUT I DO FEEL THAT AT TIME OUR OPPONENTS ALAYS KNOW WHAT WE ARE COMING TO DO AND THATS WHY ZEDDY’S FORMATIONS DO NOT WORK. LET FANS BE ALLOWED TO COME FOR TO WATCH THE TRAINNING SESSIONS ONLY ON FRIDAYS BUTV KEEP OFF FOR THE REST OF THE DYS,THAT WAY WE CAN CONTROL THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WE EXPOSE OUR TRAINNING SESSIONS TO.

This is sad info , Awilo has always been a die hard kogallo fan. I doubt if the attackers were gor mahia fans.My apologies to our player for the attack and i hope you win big with gor this year..We have a slim chance of winning the league as tusker have lost four points…lets work up and see if we can win things

Disgusting, why, why, why aaaah NO!!!Even on the Congo day I saw Awilo ducking an aimed stone. Why, even if we lose the title but at least we should save the club name? I want to point a finger at some stout lady always in Gor shirt disrupting traffic after every Gor Matches at City Stadium. Uncouth you lady and please stop it. For those who attacked Awilo ….what are you doing, what did you tell your wives and your children? Stupid.

  • Guys, i know it’s a tough task but since all of us on this blog are condemning this we should take our time to conduct some civic education on such fans. If we can dare even beat up our own player that means that some of us have lost it. Could this be related to the public smoking of bang at the stadium. How I wish one day to see a soccer hooligan jailed for several months as a result of such acts. It might just act to end impunity. The same people will still expect the players to give their all. As a result of this don’t be surprised if some players hand in their transfer forms at the end of the season. After all, they are now professionals and their only worry is where to get their daily bread.

This is regrettable and should be condemed by all football fans. These goons need to be apprehended and charged in the court of law. The goons should be banned from attending training and all Gor Mahia matches. Where do you blame players if the poor performance of the team is squarely on Zico and technical bench members? Awilo pole sana ndugu. I condemn this with the strongest terms possible. Who hired these goons? Is it the coach? Is it a member of the technical bench?, Is it an official? These goons have got no place in football. Awilo has been loyal to the club both in bad and good times. Why should the club officials be allowing goons in the name of fans or training branch to attend training? Any thuggery in players, officials and technical bench members should not be allowed to happen. We have been calling for Zico to give in but not to resort to all manners of thuggery.

When the entire team was held hostage by these very goons 2 weeks ago, some of us were rejoicing. One blogger even commented that I do not have the right to order inspecter general of police as if I did. All sorts of things were said in response to my humble comments. Today, these goons are becoming emboldened because of the support from some of us. It beats my understanding how a grown up, who went to school and can write in English, can comment that it was right to hold the team hostage and even stone the police because of a loss against Congo United. Surely those are comments that one should keep to himself. They have no place in a civilised society. Lets emulate Arsenal. They win, lose, draw, they still have thier fans behind them. I am not an Arsenal fan, but am considering starting to support them because of thier maturity. Green army, is it asking for too much if you were to behave yourselves. For God and my club Kogallo

  • KOGALLO’S PROBLEM RUN TOO DEEP
    1. WE ARE REALLY BEHIND in Terms OF structuring the club i stand to be corrected this is like a welfare organization we have posts like organizing secretary not managing the club to any better heights ,the office needs to have a C.E.O TO RUN THE CLUB AND THE ELECTED BOARD HAVING MINIMAL ROLE OF VOTING on policies to implemented by the C.E.O. and this makes level management and reporting easier
    2. if we elect greedy officials who just as sir Edward clay said eat from our plate and vomit on our feet we shall go nowhere we are likely to lag behind in terms of rising to our full potential
    3. the current structure of managing kogallo is long outdated we need away by which even if the club is owned by fans they should feel it is an investment rather a place to go and show pride and if the pride is hurt they throw stones maybe if fans register as owners of the club with like 3000 shillings and the members elect aboard which campaigned on issues not mileages which are misplaced this in turn will give us a strong board with a strong C.e.o. with this owners will help flash out goons from the stadium cos its their investment at stake , in its current form we shall remain the laughing stoke of other teams and the nation at large
4.guys @ommolloomondi should push this idea from an informed position look at us tp mazembe just bought their second plane, plane!!!. stadium is big business now why dont we move towards thinking of out own 20000 seater we shall rick in revenue day in day out
    5. finally rachier is abig time failure yes he did well initially but his style of management failed to plan well and that is why changaa guys like ziko find them selves working in gor mahia i honestly have to say my year has been so disappointing in terms of gormahia awillo should weigh between his family and gormahia which one is important then make a decision concerning his future either he retires or finds another club otherwise it is high time he realized in this industry you are a hero today tomorrow you are a villian i feel for you awillo and to hell with those beating you God will punish them

THIS IS WHAT I MEANT WHEN I TALKED ABOUT A CLUB BEING RUN LIKE A VILLAGE WELFARE.ASK YOURSELF WHY DO WE CONDUCT OUR TRAININGS AT THAT SCHOOL WHILE OTHER ELITE CLUBS-SOFAPAKA & LEOPARDS CONDUCT THEIRS AT CITY AND NYAYO STADIUM? COMPARE THE TURF OF THAT SCHOOL AND THE CITY STADIUM ONE AND YOU WILL KNOW THE GENESIS OF THIS SICK SOCCER DISPLAYED .IF A SCHOOL CAN HAVE A PITCH WHAT PREVENTS US FROM BUYING OUR OWN? THE ATTACK ON AWILO IS JUST A PATHETIC SIDESHOW MEANT TO HOODWINK THE CLUBS FANS AND PREVENT THEM FROM SEEING THE ROT THAT IS IN THIS OFFICE.AT THE END OF THIS SEASON ZD WILL HAVE HIS MONEY FROM THE TWO JOBS IN HIS ACCOUNT,THE CHAIRMAN WILL HAVE SET HIS LAUNCHPAD FOR HIS PREDICTED LEAP INTO POLITICS ARMED WITH SOME OF THE CLUBS FINANCES AND WE THE FANS WILL BE LEFT WITH OUR JERSEYS ASKING OURSELVES HOW NAIVE WE WERE WHEN ALL INDICATIONS WERE THERE FOR THIS DEBACLE-REMEMBER THE CITY STARS MATCH AT END SEASON AND THE RANGERS MATCH.GOODWILL AND FANATICISM CAN ONLY TAKE US TO A MEASURED LEVEL ABOVE WHICH ONLY SOUND MANAGEMENT POLICIES COUPLED WITH QUALIFIED,SELFLESS AND DEDICATED STAFF WILL PROPEL US TO THE STRATOSPHERE.TAKE A PEAK ON THE NET ON THE MYTH OF SISYPHUS AND YOU WILL UNDERSTAND OUR PREDICAMENT.
