K’Ogalo secretary general George Bwana reveals to Goal that the club has agreed on an three year deal with their sponsors estimated at Sh25 million

Gor Mahia hope to tie up a new contract with sponsors Tuzo at the end of this week, a club official has revealed to Goal.

According to Gor Mahia Secretary General George Bwana the club has agreed on an improved deal with their sponsors and all that remains is for top managers of the milk firm to confirm the same.

“The contract has been dispatched to Tuzo after we went through it and agreed with its provision. We are waiting for Tuzo managers to assent to it.

“Generally, as a club we are very happy with what has been offered to us because it is much better.

“We are also delighted that Tuzo have continued to pay our player’s salaries even after the original contract had expired. It shows their level of commitment to the club,” added Bwana.

Though Bwana refused to disclose the amounts involved in the new deal, sources confided that Tuzo have increased their annual sponsorship to Sh25million from Sh18million and the new deal will be for a period of three years meaning Gor Mahia will pocket Sh75million.

The new deal will also pay for the salaries of technical bench members, which was not the case in the old contract.

  • so plz hunt for one or two quality players. if 25 mil will be used for player and TB salaries then get rid of players who play two matches a year. gor should have a squad that can be rotated at any time. with a reliable get collection gor can now afford to get one quality striker to say the least. these players must now understand that it’s about delivery. players who want to play showbiz football and those who think that they are in gor by right should be shown the door. my worry continues to be the ‘fans’ who continue to damage gor, the bang smokers and the thieves. unfortunately these goons seems to have a close relationship with the EC. logarusic should also come out clearly and state who he wants, why does he keep disappearing when players are being recruited. the EC has already said they dropped the players as per the coaches instructions. this was the same thng last season. i assume then there is a gor negotiation team, how competent are these guys. where is this striker et midfielder gor is hunting for? and logarusic, why is Thika unted doing better than gor yet they have the same calibre of players you have? case study: why did ethiopia club knock out EPPI of egypt? is it because they bought better players or the fact that the coaches in ethiopia know what they are doing.

  • I believe with such a contract we should be able to do better both off and on the field. The thing now is to have a quality list of both players and TB, so that we don’t have joyriders benefitting from the sweat of others. The next thing is to do quality recruitment so that we can plug in and fill the gaps that we saw in the first leg

Good job, Tuzo. I hope all GM family members will appreciate this and show some respect to the Tuzo brand, their management and by extension owners.

The other side of the coin is that by my estimation the coach’s benefit of over six million a year added to other Tech Bench members makes the additional 7 million improvement of the Tuzo deal. It makes work easier for the EC by removing the burden of having to include the tech bench salaries in their other expenditure.

Otherwise, i don’t think with the current philosophy of finance management in the club we will have improved players welfare and other infrastructural changes. How i wish the EC could seize this opportunity to deploy other funds into more development ventures for the club and player welfare.

I actually though Tuzo was gonna cancel the deal after all the issues that club has been through. Anyway kudos to Tuzo. Now let the fans behave themselves and not bring disrepute to the club and its sponsors.

  • As I can read here the biggest threat to GM sponsorship is its fans. Have even heard saying that the team can survive without sponsorship as it did before. The only thing is that things have chamged and the players are now professionals and not Govt. parastal employees.
As said let’s provide the respect to the sponsors, their management and its owners. Being disrepectful yet for some of us even parting with the 200 KES to watch a Gor game is a hassle will no longer do. For some of us still with the hangover of the last election and ethinc chauvinism please spare us those in the second leg.
On chaos Ingwe has been ordered to play some matches behind close door and we don’t want the same to happen to us.

BB relax, yes Dan ‘respect’ is the word. At some point i tend to think the battle against hooliganism is lost in our generation, i may suggest we begin with selling the messege against violence to our toddlers. You wonder how a team like GM may not need a sponsor when the richest of the rich clubs are highly sponsored!

  • there is a rumour going roung the coach is a liability to K’Ogalo as he moves around with players girlfriends and this has contributed to poor perfomance witnessed recently

Hiyo ni tabia mbaya. Si ajitafutie tu wake wa asili. Where is ethics here? It may be a rumour and I pray it be just that, otherwise how do you explain his sudden powerlessness and lack of control over the players? The story of prophet Nathan, King David and Uriah’s wife should be a point of reference for those charged with responsibility of mentorship.

  • The story is in the Nairobian. Players too need to be private. Where and how did the coach get to meet their girls?

  • Let’s be careful about waht we read in some papers, especially the tabloids. All the same I expect the Chair to provide the leadership required on this because sooner or later you will get uncordinated responses from the SG, VC and the other usual suspects.
We all remember the saga of John terry and someone’s girlfriend in Chelsea. We all hope that it doean’t get to this since we might never get the whole story. The truth is that in a sporting or social environment such will always occur, either the ladies lured the man or a player was dumped by the lady and has decided to hit back.
All the same it’s not a good place for us to be when the league is about to start and we need harmony in the team.
All the same what do you guys think of Moday? Will he solve our midfield problems? Without a doubt he is more technically astute than any of our current midfilders but will he deliver that which has eluded us in the first leg. I HOPE SO

Remember Osborn Monday was very pivotal in Kimanzi’s Shisha Stars? The guy was an instrumental game changer. The big question is what happened thereafter? Past experience persuades me to regard such players with alot of caution. Suppose he joins Gor Mahia, gets serious for a while and then after his girlfriend switches allegiance or decides to buy shares in the 0.5M he suddenly becomes indifferent and lethargic? Those are only my loud thoughts otherwise Osborne Monday can even be better than Pinches or Mieno on his day.
