Former Kenyan Premier League player of the year George ‘’Blackberry Odhiambo is seeking a return to Gor Mahia.

Odhiambo in an exclusive interview with supersport.com highlighted the fact that he was ready to return to the KPL under his former club Gor to revive his career which has stagnated in recent years.

“In life you have to humble yourself and take bold steps that is why after a lot of soul searching I think the only place that would help to revive my career is Gor Mahia which is the club that made me. Not everything goes as planned but one can always make amends.”

“Gor had the most fantastic fans who helped inspire me at every moment and I want a return to the Mighty K’Ogalo and assure all that if given a chance, I will fight for my place and make my name again. I believe Gor is the team that will help inspire me back to the same old Blackberry everyone talked about.”

“Life is about accepting your mistakes and after playing in several places including Europe i have decided to come back home and work harder than before,” Odhiambo told supersport.com.

Contacted for comment, Gor chairman Ambrose Rachier who described Odhiambo as talented player but had wise words for him.

“We do not forsake our former players but I want Blackberry to be serious and to come down to earth and start afresh I can promise I will give him the chance since it is Gor Mahia that made him who he is,” Rachier told supersport.com.

Odhiambo recently returned home from Armenia. He has played in Both Denmark for Randers and Tanzania for Azam.

I agree with the chairman’s wise counsel to the young Blackberry, however, its upon him to take up the challenge and fight for his former position, which I believe is not vacant at the moment! KPL is now bigger than what he left and the stakes are even much higher, remember we have the continental championship and the Kpl cup to defend!

Is it because of pending elections that our TB is so docile and inactive in the transfer period?. G Bwana deals have never materialized since he became the SG of K’Ogalo.
Anyway we can still get some local talents in the on going KOTH BIRO tournament.

Home is best. The little experince you’ve gained will be of much help in the coming busy season. To ask my fellow bloggers, can anyone update me on the status of Situmbeko!

@ odhiambo p Owuor,Situmbeko’s deal fell through.Gor did not engage Power Dynamos which is Situmbeko’s parent club.He was paid,on his own admission, the signing fee.Now he is planning to wire back the money to Gor.Even the much hyped Walusimbi’s transfer is not a done deal. The danger here is that all teams, including local clubs are playing hardball. We may never sign the experienced stars we had hoped for but could still be lucky with some unknowns in the lower division leagues. We can’t even sign players at the annual koth biro tournament because most of them are already engaged and signed by Kpl clubs.

Guys wachaneni na akina Situmbeko, sijui Kizito, mara Logarusic. My question is: was Nyangi Odembo a foreign talent? Ben Oloo Breakdance? Jojo Fundi? John Odhiambo Baresi? Odhis Dube? George Blackberry? Eric Ochieng Cantona? King David?

These so-called cross border players are a distraction for no reason. The Situmbeko deal is most annoying and from that experience we should forget about those foreigners and go for people like Omino the Chemelil defender, Mohammed Mwachiponi of Karuturi and the lots of talent in Koth Biro as aptly put by Okoth Jabilo.

With good coaching, good mental attitude and a good working environment even our “natives” can just perform and perform very well as proved by the Joe Kadenges, the William Chege Oumas and the William Obwakas. Football is spherical and so not a preserve of a few therefore let us not act as if it can only be played by foreigners. If they were that good then where is the much hyped Ndayisaba? Where is Baldwin Ngwa? Where is Felixinho Nwosu? Foreign players, foreign players, sijui Zambia. Bure Kabisa.

For the striking force let us rope in Blackberry. If we re-instate Odhis Dube I am sure a combination of Dube, Oboya, Serunkumma and Blackberry will simply be awesome.

Sir Bobby rateng wuod Ogolla, the blonde-haired soccer aristocrat, was not a foreign player. It was our purely “native” midfield of John Odhiambo Baresi and Seif Mutie that reduced the mighty Nigerian midfield of “foreigners” JJ Okocha, Sunday Oliseh and Finidi George to mere spectators at Kasarani under the late Reinhardt Fabisch.

Look at what Kimanzi is doing at Tusker. He is not wasting time looking for foreigners. Remember Tusker dropped a Malawian and he is being replaced by “natives” from Talanta Academy.

Kwa hivyo ndugu zangu, msiogope. Hata hivyo hasanteni kwa kuzingatia ceasefire na mkumbuke kuendelea hadi kipindi hiki cha sherehe kikamilike.

@Bandit, you’ve said it all. We can go places with local talent like the harambee stars did in this years cecafa challenge. We should get mieno and omino from chemilil and with that I think we’ll be ready to go.

You wonder if people eat imported veges, drink foreign water and breath oxygen from foreign countries! Cant we see kenyan players are doing equally well in other leagues? Also what has the TB to do with signing players? I thought they can only propose players for the EC to sign because our system is not the same as in europe where managers are given a budget to spend on players, actually if we don’t want BW he will just move on like those before him but accusing them (the TB) unfairly will not give us what we want.

@ BB has an important caveat & I quote ” With good coaching, good mental attitude and good working enviroment”
When u reflect (sorry when I) reflect on it apart from the passionate fans aired on DsTv I bet in reality GM is far from a glamour club which potential signings soon find out & which they yearn 4.
Hakuna basics like medical insurance, players use foot 11to training venue, what abt accomodation will we rely on Kidero. Unless our 2 Bob’s reinvent themselves into the legendary Len Julians…

& fans miraculously bcom patient then 2014 will just b a wait & see season.
Y would a star player leave his country of origin (unless fleeing conflict) & come 2 a club where at best the structures r similar 2 his homeland.
Soccer being a team sport means that u will create rifts in the playing unit if players terms vary 2 much.
We need structures that prioritize players not officials & as someone says nt even BW will stay put unless quality players r availed 2 him.
    Even Mienos,Kahatas (he wanted.

1M signing fee last Jan & after CECAFA his value is higher), Ominos don’t come cheap but let’s “break” the bank & sign them. Reality is that Mighty K’galo cannot afford 2 pay what the foreign clubs r demanding 4 their contracted players that’s why its immaterial & naive 4 EC (Bwana) 2 “pay” personal signing fees. Remember GB is not standing 4 reelection & claimed 13 players were leaving GM.
That’s the curse of FKF fines & executive community ticketing frauds “RICH EC POOR CLUB THAT HAS NO MONEY”

Brother Oduor 12,I find your contributions on this blog well calculated and informative. You know the history of this club like the back of your and ,like most bloggers, you fear for the future. You know the problems the team is likely to face next season and you even have the solutions. Now that elections will be in January, allow me to propose you for the position of SG.You’re the people this club need.
