Bob Mugalia interested in joining Kogalo

According to a story in Today’s Standard Newspaper, Congolese born Kenya striker, Bob Mugalia has expressed interest in joining Gor Mahia. Mugalia has been seen at the stadium attending Kogalo matches wearing a Kogalo jersey. When asked, he said he was just wearing the jersey because he was an ardent supporter of the team since his childhood days. This writer finds that interesting considering that during Mugalia’s childhood, Kogalo has been a hard sell even to its longtime fans.

Mugalia attending a Gor Mahia match

Bob Mugalia who arrived from Congo as a refugee has been most impressive in steering Sofapaka to the upper echelons of local football. So impressive has Mugalia been that local administrators were prevailed upon to hasten his transition to Kenyan citizenry. His lively runs precise crosses and superb goals have been amongst the highlights of the Kenya premier league.

Asked if he would be interested in the move, he replied: “Who would not be? In fact the move has always been on my mind. Gor is one of the best clubs in the country and has always been my dream team since childhood. I love their passionate fans and the way they play.

“Our football career is very short and one has to enjoy every bit of the limited career before it elapses.

“I also want to more trophies and I think I can do that with Gor Mahia. My contract at Sofapaka should not be an issue.”

He has also previously been linked with moves to Tanzania’s huge spending league side Azam United and APR of Rwanda but nothing materialised and it would be interesting to see how this one goes.

In any case Kogalo officials will have to move fast lest Mugalia moves to a rival team and comes back to haunt Kogalo or to the Tanzanian league.

Should he join Kogalo, he would be the second Congolese import to join Kogalo after Francis Kasinde did in 1991. Kasinde started really well but somehow faded. In January of 1991, Gor Mahia played against Ikast FC, which at the time was in the Danish top tier. Kasinde tormented the Danes, scoring and leading Gor Mahia to  2-0 win. Gor Mahia fans were ecstatic. He later inexplicably lost form and dissapeared.

Mugalia on the other hand has been consistent for the past 3 seasons. He would be a good addition to the Kogalo forwardline which of late has been blunt.

  • That’s gud news can officers seal the deal. On another note coach Zico has taken is ineptitude all the way to the H.Star. Tactically inept and poor fielding. How do you ave the shortest man in the field man the near post at a corner, given that ua keeper is not too tall.Time and time again we’ve told this guy without attacking creative midfield feeding strikers you won’t go far not even Oliech could score-reminded me of Lavasta being forced to drop deep to search for the ball. Jamal shld have started n BB & Obuya shld have come in much earlier. Finally not one current K’galo player made the team so I wondered whether its quality players that we don’t have at GM but as the game progressed it reminded me on a typical Gor game (over reliance on the defense) so i knew its the coach whose the PROBLEM

@ODUOR12, you hate this man Zico with a passion. I am sure if you are handed to gun, you would eliminate him. Honestly if you watched the match, Harambee stars played a very good game. They were denied a clean goal. Back to the subject matter, Mugalia is a big fish. Rachier and the rest of executive, please have this young talented player on board. For God and my club.

Mugalia is a good player but, lets hope he wont be too expensive or else we buy Paul Were.Know that kitawi is gone to tusker lets buy a quality holding midfilder, who has good vision to feed strikers.Zico have problem with fielding, why didnt he start with Jamal or is he allergic to skilled midfilders no wonder he never liked Kitawi, and i think Berry should have come in , in the place of over weight oboya. Is it that their no GOR playrs who can fit in harambee?what about gatusso, lavatsa, moses, masika,KEVO, i think their is something fishy.Game ya weekend ni must win.

  • Guys, we cannot one breadth say that most of our players are off-form and at the same time say that they should be included in the national team! Is it because our coach is in charge of the national team? Truly speaking, apart from Gatusso and Masika most of our players though they are have class they are currently not on form. Unless we learn to accept some bitter truths then it will really be painful and heartbreaking for some of you to support (follow) GM. The standards for the national team are currently high for some of our team members. If players like Mieno, Anthony Kimani, John Baraza, Alwanga, Mugalia are out and we have players like Oliech, Mugabe, Mariga then the other local players (including ours) will have to wait for the CHAN and CECAFA tourneys. On the Angola game and the coach, unless you are a Zico hater you can see that the team played well though ball possesion and control is still a problem. At the national team level it is not the coach to teach you such basics. Remember that Pros meet for a maximum five days before an international match. So the coach just concentrates on match strategy and phsyching the players. How about the goal from Kevo Ochieng. Wasn’t it valid? And the howler from Wanga after the Oliech rebound? I still believe Zico and the team were robbed. Let’s give the Zico, Gor players and Management all our support but criticize them constructively. If you look at our neigbours house and see what’s happening there(officials and players leaving) then you will realise that the problems we have can be summounted if we all pull together and in one direction.

I dont like this at all but you still retain your right to criticize. Let Mugalia come and if he does, I suggest we add Selenge only and not Imbem; that pair can make a deadly forwardline with Lavatsa and Moses. Back to Angola game, please, please lets commend when it is deserved. Zico had the best fielding ever, even the subs come in well. Do not criticise for the sake of it. The team played very very well.

    Reply
  • @Jon You are right at national level the coach does not teach basics, a national coach shld select players with good basics. Do you know see where Zico failed. You’re right again ball possession and control was a problem. Yes to Osborne and Wanga but Jamal and BB exhibited superb ball control for the little time they were given- Do you see where Zico failed again. Finally we are not going to CAN and GM may very well not win the league and yes ua right both teams play very well.

  • @Ja Thur and @kosero, I like your optimism. Let’s hope that we have the best players joining us. We really need to bring back those fans who desserted us after the negative publicity from the media. By the way is it true that we were fined 1.4m for the repair of the Ulinzi bus and KPL fined 0.6m for the stadium damage? If so, KPL might pass over their portion of the fine to us. Anyway, whatever they do we will still continue to follow our team.

  • If a player wishes to come so be it and especially of Mugallia skills and yes i agree selenge would be a good inclusion. About the Harambee game i can bet the problem was with the right wing. Look at monday and Kevo both looked sluggish and out of touch with the pace no wonder the the goal had to come from that direction. Our defenders gave unnecessary corners and i asked myself was it necesary for Edgar to give the corner really? Noooooooooooooooo! That game we could have won hands down and i dont blame the coach only the players with most of them hadly ensuring we kept possesion of the ball always in a hurry to release. So long as Gor mahia and AFC leopards continue to have unskilled players Harambee stars will go nowhere hata wafanye nini. Most of the players from other team cannot soak pressure no wonder a team like Tusker will move their games to Mumias coz they cant withstand pressure.

I join my colleagues to welcome Bob ( sweetpotato) to K’ogalo. Am really excited of the news and i cant wait to see him play his first match! Bob is a utility player whom we cannot afford to loose as a club. He will bring to the club a wealth of experience, skills, speed, energy and goals. For a long time, since the departure of our wonder kid, blackberry
, our club has been starved of goals.

I call upon all k’ogalo fans to cross our fingers as our officials chase the signature of this great player. Kogalo will remain the best destination of choice for all players. Why? Because of who we are. Loyal, enthusiastic and passionate about our club.

    Keep the fire burning guys!

I never have time for Zico because I think his management skills are archaic especially after a dose of naps and orisitima. But on Sunday, I must confess I was very impressed with the way he organised the team. If truth be told it will be that we were let down by the players who were subsituted. Nothing more. Kudos Zico. In regards Mugalia, Selenga and whoever else, i dont think they are the answer as Gor is a team and not an individual. My opinion is that we have a talented coach and good players (gatuso, daddy, mwalimu, masika, musa, lavatsa, lucky dube etc). Shida ni hakuna harmony GM.

  • I don’t think there was any leniency on the punishment . Remember we were fined 1.4m to repair the Ulinzi bus. At the same time we need all the money we can get to complete the payment of our own K’Ogalo bus.My only wonder is if we will assist the club to pay the fine with the same ZEAL with which we threw the stones. They say what goes round always comes round and you reap what you sow. I only hope we will come up with a strategy of dessenting or protesting

But what punishment did they vent on the referee? Punishment should be for correction and futuristic betterment. I’m not a stone thrower and did not throw any! I advise them for the personal safety of referees let whoever the idac is next time give a repremand to misbehaving whistlers..impunity is suicidal..take my advice seriously. No apologies.

  • like I said K’galo fans had every right to stop the game but vandalizing the stadium, Ulinzi bus and motorists was simply in bad taste and portrays the 12th man, the heartbeat of GM, as irrational which is not the case. I partially agree fans must foot the bill for property destruction.K,galo club funds are for signing top notch players and coaches not to be wasted on such fines.Too me twas the bhang smokers and changaa drinkers amongst us who went overboard, but now its collective responsibility so lets pay up fans. After thought, Nyayo stadium officials and govt. shld pay half since on this site they’ve been warned about such illegal activities but they’ve not taken any steps to arrest the situation.
Finally Zico now that H.stars have offered you an enhanced contract you must choose either GM or H.star so that you don’t become like the proverbial hyena. For me being the patriot you are l’d rather you choose H.stars.

The Standard news papers still reported they’re yet to sit and decide and that a protest letter had been forwarded to the KPL..where are these 1.4M coming from?
Or is it the Std. newspapers that are behind the news!

As much as we may not be entitled to complain about the punishment Mr. Paw Akuche and as much as we may not alter any bit of it..we still belong and remain within the football fraternity that has rules to be applied and practised by all involved..this includes refs, players and fans..All of us must play by the rules.

If the there is a handball, offside or any fouls it should be recognized and acted upon..playing holier than thou will not lessen the fine or make anything better but by improving on all sides will deny hooligans a chance to do their thing which we all abhor..

Thats why i still persuade the KPL to do something on the refereing , if anything our refs have had interesting call ups to as low a tournament as CECAFA are you the only one who thinks they should not improve..may be you should refer to the GM Mgt. complaint to KPL..
