Boniface Oluoch says his nerves have settled
Boniface Oluoch joined Gor Mahia in January of this season. Despite a shakey start that saw him concede 5 goals in the first six games, Oluoch has settled down. He has put on some solid performances between the posts and has been a key reason why Gor Mahia has conceded far fewer goals than any other team. He explains that when he first joined Gor Mahia, he was a nervous wreck.
“In Gor Mahia, there is no room for mistake, at all at all. You will lose the ground because fans will not forgive you. You have to be on your toes in every match. When I joined, in the first few games I was nervous; I was literally shaking in the goal post because I did not want to make any silly mistake. I had to be 100% concentrated to give my best,” Oluoch told goal.com.
Oluoch has now become accustomed to the pressure that comes with playing for Gor Mahia where only those with nerves of steel can thrive.
“Things are currently not bad, I am used to the fans but that has not reduced my level of commitment. I want to win every match with the team, the hunger is still there. I cannot talk of finishing the season unbeaten, all I can say, we take each game at a time and hope we will maintain the run. It feels good and we want to maintain it.” he continued.
Oluoch’s solid performances have seen national team coach Bobby Williamson entrust him with the starting line-up. He had a shakey performance against the Red Devils of Congo-Brazza. But he has seemingly settled down. He put on a solid performance when Kenya played Ethiopia including foiling a glorious chance when Ethiopia striker Assefa Behailu was left one on one with him.
Indeed whereas Kenya was eliminated by Ethiopia, Gor Mahia fans can pride themselves that they kept a clean sheet in large part due to Oluoch, Shakava, Musa Mohamed and captain courageous Collins Okoth.
Oluoch will be one of the players Gor Mahia will be counting on when the CECAFA cup starts next week. Gor Mahia will be seeking an opportunity to redeem themselves after a below par performance last season.
This guy should not start when we play Zambia. Kasaya should be the keeper. For the offense, Wanga and Jesse Were should be given the nod. Mambo ya Olunga tuache at least for now
@Ingo since K’Ogalo players are not at par with BW approach and tactically style; i would also advise him to consider your preferred players like Kasaya, Saleh, Wafula and the Wanga’s of Kenya football to do the national duty. it is a pity donning the national colours under BW, since he will end distracting and derailing some players career. Look at Saleh and his fumbling in Congo and Ethiopia, How about Bonnie who just recovered after some peep talk and now we have Abondo and Kimani carrying BW baggage from CHAN.
I will agree with @Ingo since it is just a matter of time before Olunga joins the bandwagon. BW please pick your players from AFC and leave GOR alone.

Jesse Were is coming up but I don’t know his speciality. Hope he will partner well with Olunga pulling defenders coz Olunga can hold the ball n’ give defenders hell.Meanwhile our Abondo is glaringly having a bad time and his shots are seemingly off target at an alarming rate;Has his Tusker problem come back.
Good players with a lousy coach. But some are overrated. Abondo et C.Okoth are not national material. Their passes are too poor to cause any impact. Olunga perfomance was sulky to say the least. If the guy cannot improve then he needs to go too. But I will give him the benefit of doubt coz of the poor supplies from the midfielder. Harambee should learn how to play fast football and this has nothing to do with running. Coach Williams only knows one type of football and that is piga mbele. This is the typical English football of yester years, and it got England nowhere to winning the worldcup that they basically had to abandon it. It also needs high accuracy. Kago is good but is overriden by the desire to shine. Boniface did well at the goal.
@Ingo your sentiments are basically tribal. check what ur ppl have messed Leopards first before thinking that they are the ones who can rescue Kenya. Why aren’t you pointing out Wafula’s crapy show as a right-back.
@ Dinga i can not agree more and U R very much Spot On. What else do you expect if the accredited body like FIFA’s International Federation of Football and History (IFFHS) depicts the same. The locally overrated KPL is in position 109 in 2014 up five places from position114 worldwide in 2013 with 123 points. Harambee stars has been a swinging pendulum since 1999 with average best of 101 position and currently in position 123.
This statistics are based on both clubs and national teams results in regional,continental and intercontinental competition. What helped the KPL ranking in 2014 was Amrouche guiding H/STARS to CECAFA trophy and GOR winning first round against BITAM before crushing out to ESPERANCE with one BW alluding it to “DEEP POCKETS”. But the same GOR was seriously exposed and bundled out in CECAFA unceremoniously under the tutelage of one BW who had been touted as the master of tournaments.
Frank Nuttal knows for a fact that CECAFA is what will test his players level of preparedness and resilience in regional top level club competition. And there is nothing like second chance in the “GROUP OF DEATH” with the likes of YANGA, KMKM and AL KHARTOUM. We are our own enenmy as long as K’Ogalo fans are being carried away with an unbeaten record and boasting with an avalanche of goals and clean sheet record in a weaker KPL league, which is tantamount to glorifying ourselves in a substandard competition not worth our strength and weaknesses.
Even if GOR prospers and clinch the CECAFA trophy our own H/STARS will still go no where since the backbone of K’Ogalo is made of serious foreign international players who are in football to do business and not jokers like our own local players. For Kenya football to prosper we need some radical changes in the leadership starting with FKF executive management, establish long term youth development and strategic plan and result oriented technical management at both clubs and national team. Look at players selection, training program,fielding and their output at the club level and you will notice why FKF wants NUTTAL to be seconded to H/STARS bench.
In order to fix HS u Ve to Start by fixing afc n gor squad .historically playing for afc n gor it was automatic for one to join HS. I think kpl Is not badly off coz it Is producing best defenders, why kpl Is not producing strikers Is coz clubs striking formation Is outdated, the current gor squad Is no joke because they know expectations of fans, So gor fans u Will see football u have Never seen in decades when gor Goes cecafa i know nutall might use tactics Child used to beat argentina, gor coach Is on top of formations

Dinga I am in agreement especially on Victor Ali. However for Gattuso I have a feeling it was just not his day.
To Ingo kindly tell this blog what it is you have against Microsoft Olunga and if it is something personal then you should better sort it out with him man-to-man.

@ Walter Alando Bwoga one Denis Odhiambo chickened out at 11th hour due to lack of confidence to the surprise of his team mates despite being “BW” first choice in such occasion; No wonder Tim Bryett his coach at Thika united termed his action as shameful if you read FUTAA.COM. BW has lost command on his players and i believe players used to understand Amrouche better than him.
Ali Abondo had zero gas left in him after the first 45 minutes of play and both “BW” and “MO” failed to realize that the guy was simply affected by fasting in the holy month of Ramadhani Raheem during such a high octane match. He was so casual,lousy and feeble without fire-power to direct the ball past the keeper on two occasions when Humphrey Mieno set him open with through pass chances.
But then after missing two clear chances that could have opened up the game; he did well to create a spot kick that he should have been wise enough to leave it for either OLUNGA or WERE since DENO had panicked. Now Ali joins KIMANI as the sacrificial lambs that caused KENYA to bow out CHAN according to BW, because they failed to convert penalties. Isn’t BW killing players career if i may ask. Even Messi and Ronaldo do miss penalties but i have never heard such a comment from their TB. We flopped in open play and Penalties are PATA / POTEA…PERIOD…!!!
It is evident that Microsoft Olunga shines at club level because of team work and spadework by his midfielders especially Khalid Aucho and the right fullback Karim Nzigiyamana. Our national team lacks these quality players, hence Olunga’s goal drought in national colours.
This is indeed bad news for team Gor Mahia. An EC with foresight should actually tie Karim to a longer contract. This is purely for business purposes because the guy will be an instant hit during CECAFA. Karim’s consistent performance will catch the eyes of many scouts and come the end of the season, he will most likely head South to team up with Abdulrazak Fiston. Every coach would love to have a fullback that has the agility, speed, footwork and the ability to bring in killer crosses with pinpoint accuracy……and that is Karim Nzigiyamana. EC please, acquaint yourselves to the fact that this guy will not stay in Gor Mahia for long and do your best to make sure he does not just walk away as a free agent.

I cant and will never blame abondo for missing spot kick coz this is normal in any futbl game.the likes of messi,anelka,eto,drogba,rooney and terry hve all missed very important spot kick.THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH ABONDO IS THAT HE ALWAYS WANT TO GO FOR EVERYTHING AS IF HE IS THE ONLY PLAYER ON THE PITCH.HE WANTS TO ADVERTISE HIMSELF IVER THE OTHERS.LOOK AT THE DOLLAR MILLION CHANCES HE WASTED DURING THE GAME YET WE STILL PROTECT HIM.AM STILL NOT CONVINCED THAT HE DESERVES A PLACE IN HS OR IN GOR STARTING LINE UP.HE DOESNT POSSES ANY FOOTBAL SKILL AND SHOULD BE FIELDED MAY B AS A RIGHT BACK.WITH PLAYERS LIKE KIMANI,SALEH,JESSE,MANGOLI AND ABONDO,STARS WILL NEVER GO ANYWHERE.OLUNGA,MIENO AND BONNY ARE TOP CLASS PLAYERS.
I do wonder why some fans are always very much concerned of wage bill yet they contribute nothing towards that.they are liabilities to club, look at the likes of jakoyo who sought to watch kogalo game on tv.we fans should never defend players when the play badly like the wasteful abondo.i and hve any personal differences with this guy but i only encourage him to perform better or bcomes the lazy abondo that we all knew.
