Branch Officials challenge Rachier to resign as he releases his manifesto

According to a story in the Daily Nation, Chairman Ambrose Rachier has been asked to resign by branch officials. At a meeting held at the Professional Center in Nairobi, the officials passed a number of resolutions regarding Rachier’s candidature for the forthcoming football elections.
Led by Gor Mahia’s organising secretary Tom Ataro, they requested Rachier to relinquish the club’s chairmanship to concentrate on the campaign for the national seat.
“We as the members of the club were not consulted by Rachier before he decided to offer himself as a candidate for the post of chairman in the forthcoming football elections and we are not backing him wholesomely as our fans are not happy with certain issues in the club,” Ataro said.
“Before he relinquishes office as our chairman, we need to see the audited report of the club’s account for the last three years,” he added.
“He has refused to address this issue for a long time. Our fans are not also happy regarding the Tuzo deal and merchandising,” he said.
Meanwhile Rachier has launched his blue print for the elections. Rachier says its time for fresh start in the way Kenyan football in managed. You cannot teach an old dog new tricks. There is need for fresh blood because the standards of football in the country have dropped into the abyss and some of the people running for election were in charge.”“I have a good track record, and my management of Gor Mahia speaks for itself. I have also met all the qualifications laid down in the electoral code,” he added.
The manifesto addresses all critical aspects of football development, but is very big on the welfare of retired players, referees and other football administrators.
“It is a shame that some retired players have turned into beggars after quitting the football . We will come up with a saving mechanism for them so that when their playing days are over they can still afford to live a decent life,” he says in the manifesto.
Rachier’s manifesto is also big on governance and proposes to come up with a transparent and accountable structure.
However some will challenge Rachier on this by suggesting that he has not been transparent in his dealings as Gor Mahia chairman.
It proposes to give responsibility and authority to those who have demonstrated competence by building successful clubs at the local and national levels. He also proposes to set up basic educational qualifications for all candidates aspiring for all elective posts
Another focus of the manifesto is the strengthening the finances of clubs in the country and proposes to stop all deductions and levies for all league matches as well engage local authorities in a bid to reduce charges for hiring their facilities.
Rachier further promises that his administration will undertake to pay for air-fare for a contingent of 25 players and officials when local clubs represent the country in international matches.
He proposes to ensure that all committees of the new federation are independent as well as the training of referees and all other technical people.

MR. Ataro just for your info, REMEMBER, GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY. GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL. We make a Living by what we get. We make a Life by what we give.

Vincent, I agree with you, however records has to be kept clean. Rachier should honourably clear the records then seek any position in this country. it is so unfortunate that some people have to be consulted even on national duties. why can’t they come up with a consultancy firm to be approving evryone? so cheap siasa!
Rachier, give us the reports, well audited, then go, and should you fail to make it in your endeavours, you will still be in our hearts. you have done tremendously well.
On a lighter note, I just wish you left it to Shollei and company. they have the Zeal. going there might split votes to favour the likes of Nyamweya – who have made us be in this kind of mess that we are in.
but its your democratic right though!!!!!!

Ataro plz wacha kuwa kigeugeu.I still support A.D.O.R.who else offered an business office to manage club matters? If Ataro and co have some politics in Kogalo pliz try it someweah surely what is the work of TREASURER?To kogalo fans let keep the fire burning for the team if some officials have political ambitions they should just talk straight to the point.Just to pause a simple question if the records are released today and everything is fine what will they talk?let leave politics to politicians.GOR IS BIG THAN POLITICS.As we approach to our elections I suggest all candidates should give a blue print for there plans to Kogalo.Otherwise I stand to be corrected if am wrong.

  • This is the problem with the people who got exposed the other day. Everybody is entitled to better opportunities or try anything they want in lyfe. We should not try to incite people on Rachier’s case. Let him explore this opportunity. Everyone else should do the same. It’s very unfortunate that Ataro is part of this and in the forefront inciting fans of gor against Rachier. Rachier is our own, fellow colleagues, and this is a national post. Let’s not criticize everything that comes our way. I wish him good luck!!

  • The big question is should/will A.R retain both GM’s chairmanship and KFF. In my view if he’s confident of winning the KFF chair then he should resign from GM. Some of us fans raised alarm bells long ago. For a club of K’galo’s stature the secrecy on financial dealings was alarming what with the bus saga, players & coaches treking for a club with so much resources. Anyway the handover must be transparent and Ataro must know we hold the whole office accountable. No wonder GM’s inexplicable loss of easy matches.Divisions in the office(read sabotage) will always affect the technical bench & players.

  • THE CALL FOR CHAIRMAN RACHIER TO RESIGN IS ILL ADVISED & FRIVOLOUS

Chairman Rachier candidature has been in the cards for quite sometime now. But when’ve stepped out last week to announce his candidature for post of cahirmain during the forthcoming FIFA sactioned elections, Gor officials called a press conference to press for his resignation.

It is obvious if Rachier wins, he will automatically relinquish the position of chairman of Gor Mahia FC. If he don’t, he continue in his capacity untill the AGM is called. The way mr Ataro an his ilk to call for Rachier resignation is I’ll advices & frivolous.

Make no mistake Mr Ataro. You cannot try to distance yourself from the chairman. You belong to the same office and fans would like to interrogate your performance. it is the members of the club who approve auditors during the AGM. The audited accounts and financial report is presented to the members during the AGM.

It is against this reports presented to the memmberd will determine your continued stay at the helm of the club. I do see any point why you are calling for Rachier resignation. let us cross the bridge when we reach there.

@Oti Tall, your prayer is my prayer. AR should loose, so that he continues steering Gor to greater hieghts. If he leaves it to vinyangarikas like Ataro, then we shall end up being “AFC Leopards B”. Lets give credit where it is due. AR has done very well. Flashback were we were b4 he took over, then we shall appreciate the chairman. For God and my club – Kogallo.

In any case, the best candidates is the Huseein-Sholei team. It will be a mistake if they are not elected. The worst possible scenario is to have Hatimy or Nyamweya elected.
As for Rachier, he ought to adddress some of the issues fans are raising. yes I know he has done a good job. But that does not mean he is above criticism. He cant talk about transparency if he himself does not practise transpareny

  • Who are the officials that are challenging our Chairman to resign? Ataro has got nothing to offer to the club. Ataro’s problem with the chairman started after GM match against AFC, where Ataro and his group were denied to run gate collections. The group had limited access to gate collections.

What Ataro is trying to say or drive home is just diversionary tactics because he can not access the gate collections anymore.

Fans, this group have continued to deny GM maximum gate collections. Just to compare our gate collections against teams that have hosted GM, there is big discrepancy which is largely due to sale of parellel tickets in all our homes games. This grave matter is evident during all our home games, where you will find Ataro and ilk in-charge of manning our entry gates. What are the role of Ataro and other officials with exception of the Treasuerer to do with manning entry gates? Let me urge our fans to be vigilant and for sure during all our games you will find Ataro and team giving orders and virtually manning all entry gates. This must be stopped for the club to maximise on gate collections and I suggest that Dela Rue should further be contracted to print all our home entry tickets with watermark and tight security features. This will be the only way to stop these hyenas from reaping from where they never planted. Gate collections belong to the club but not individuals who are not serving the interest of the club.

@Mwakio, you have written it in black and white. We dont need characters like Ataro in Gor management. They are a total liability. No wonder player trek from matches to their homes, yet people like Ataro head to Nairobi West to enjoy the loot. Totally unacceptable. Ataro MUST GO! For God and my club – Kogallo

  • For the Mighty Gor Mahia to be poised for greater things, accountability is mandatory. On the contrary to allegations that questioning those in office is bringing the club down, it should build the club if done in good faith. Having worked for one of the big four audit firms I approached Chairman to get in contact with me if the club may need any book keeping or auditing services. More than seven months ago he promised to take uo the matter and will talk to me. My hope is they have appointed somebody even to help in tax advisory because that is a way of helping the club

  • Yes we agree Rachier is one of our own and he has done alot with the team but also remember accountability is a must hata ukuwe rais it is a must
If a tall rechier is a good manager then let him come out clean and tell us how he and his office has been spending the clubs money and also the contract of tuzo is of our concern blackbery transfer is also another issue
If he is man enouigh let him clear all this issues then he can vie for any position he wants even if it is the presidency then we can vote him
Accountability for small things can making a hero how can he run Gor mahia without accountability system in place then you will expect the same man to run soccer affairs in the country
    GOOD INTENTION WRONG TIMING
