Bwana : We did not cause damage

courtesy of michezoafrika.com

Gor Mahia will not pay for the damages imposed to the club after fans caused chaos at Kasarani following the club’s 0-0 draw with Nairobi City Stars. Secretary General George Bwana says it is the home team that is supposed to be held responsible for all the damages caused after the match.

“As far as we are concerned we did nothing wrong and should not be held responsible for what happened at Kasarani.” He said.

“What happened at Kasarani was as a result of goons who took advantage of the situation and did that in pretence of being Gor Mahia fans.”

Early Tuesday morning, the Sports Stadia Management board released a statement  which required Gor Mahia to pay a total of 2.8 million for damages incurred after the 0-0 draw with Nairobi City Stars. The board went ahead to indefinitely ban Gor Mahia from using any of their facilities including Nyayo stadium and Kasarani.

To set the record straight, Bwana has said that the club will seek for the intervention of Football Kenya Federation (FKF), a move that he says will ensure next week’s derby match against arch rivals Gor Mahia is played in one of the stadia.

“We will revise the situation and ask FKF to help us get back to Nyayo and Kasarani. The stadia have not been built for Weddings and other functions but for sports. We are determined to ensure that we give our fans and all football loving people the best and from the best facilities we have in the country.” Bwana concluded

Bwana…go tell that to the birds, they just might believe you.

Your office has baby-sat hooligans and they have turned against you,so deal with it!!

As for the fine and ban, like in a court of law,can go either way or both and since it has been meted, lets face the consequences.

Finally,i hope the EC has learned its lesson from this event. And if not, wacha basi we continue to pay the fines and serve the bans!!!

I realy would like to ask blogers who r always out to critic any statement made by Sec.gen. Do u pple think that anytime Gor is playing away George Bwana and the entire EC should contract a security firm or call the police to deal with grownups who r not even schoolboys.I realy hate this Idea of just waiting 4r a statement from Bwana & start critisizing. We r all Gor Mahia & some of us cannot behave in a civilized manner & we cannot talk 4r Gor apart frm clubs spokesperson. or u pple wanted Bwana

2 say that we caused the damage when 10 goons who would’ve been aprehended by the police who were to man security were watching. This club is not only 4r Bwana but 4r us all & we should protect from unnecesary accusations. We r all Gor Mahia & we cannot just always condemn our officials even if we r being accused of a crime we never commited.

By the way what is EC supposed to do when the goons are vandalizng other peoples property? fight them bACK? hAS ANY OF US TRIED TO DISSUADE these goons from rioting? If you try you will be the next object of the riots. The police must just do what they come to the stadium to do. We don’t pay them to watch the game. They should learn how security marshals in EPL behave. They sit lookimg at the potential trouble spots and not finding a cosy place to watch the match and engage in stories

    Rama
    Morale of the remaining PLAYERS

We are very much used to this familiar tune. I will be a very happy man the day people in command will take concrete steps to stem out hooliganism. We can hold as many printed handkerchiefs as our hands can allow but that will never send any message to a criminal. Ni mchujo tu!, through registration of members and allowing only duly registered and registration card-carrying members to attend our matches. In this IT age, it would take a matter of seconds to verify the membership electronically. Even better still, the E-ticket should be linked and issuable only to the registration compliant K’Ogalo fans.

@8 u cannot restrict Gor Mahia to be watched by only members because it is also bussiness.Gor mahia FC relies on gate collection to develop & cannot afford to shut out non -members.Talk of things which r possible. Gor mahia is also a big team like Man u in uk and attracts a big crowd including new members. It is the police who r sleeping on the job and should wake up.why should they come to stadium to watch football if there work is to provide security. Shame on them( the police).

  • @7, when did fans became shareholders? We do not have shareholders but fans please. In our case stakeholders are EC, fans, Kpl, fkl, police, stadia board etc. we have been calling for restructuring f the club that should offer fans opportunities to buy shares in the club to make us shareholders.

Allow me to re-post this article of June 2011, posted in full to cast aside suspicions of eidting. Kindly read paragraph 2.

    Gor Mahia launches anti-hooliganism campaign

In a bid to stem the tide of hooliganism which has caused the abandonment of two matches this year and has given the club bad publicity, Gor Mahia club officials in conjunction with sponsors, Tuzo, have started a campaign to combat hooliganism.

    Paragraph 2.
The club has also appealed to the Police to assist by arresting known hooligans. According to Chairman Ambrose Rachier, the club has identified 25 hooligans who caused abandonment of the opening day match against Rangers.
Says Rachier, “As a club, we are limited in the ways with which we can deal with unruly fans. Other than identifying them and banning them from our matches, there is little else we can do. We urge the law enforcement officers to help us by charging them in a court of law.” Usually, it’s the club and ultimately the players that suffer when we get banned or fined over crowd trouble and we feel that if the transgressors are held to account individually, it will deter them because they will undertake the costs,” he added. “We are determined not to let a few criminals tarnish our name and deter us from accomplishing our goal which is to champion the 2011 KPL. A true K’ogalo fan would never do anything to jeopardize his team and we will weed out these hooligans who pose as our fans,” added the enthusiastic chair.
The club wants to educate fans on the damage that hooliganism does to the club. G48 , a security company, will train marshals on how to circumvent fan trouble before it starts. Other stakeholders such as KPL and Suipersport will also be consulted on the way forward. The chairman emphasized the need to sensitize the fans from the 123 branches across the country on the need to shun violence and accept match results as they unfold. Rachier emphasized the club’s stance against hooliganism,
Tuzo brand manager Rosemary Aloo said, “We would like to offer our continued support to Gor Mahia and stand with them on this endeavour. We believe there are many ways of venting out frustrations during matches but neither violence nor anti social behaviour is one of them. We understand this will be a process and it will take time but we have to start from somewhere to not only curb this vice but eradicate it all together.”
Rachier also affirmed their commitment in continuing in corporate social responsibility activities (CSR) as a way of giving back to the society, an activity they embarked on last year when they visited Loitoktok district hospital and engaged in other environmental cleaning activities.
In an unprecedented move, The club will also train cheer-leaders in how to get fans to rally behind the team.

Now of my questions this bloated executive community and its defenders.

1.We have accepted that Rama left but how much was he sold for 1M,2M,5M or did he go F.O.C
    2. After all the chest thumping by Bwana, that GM wants 5M for Rama, that GM can only leave after the end of the season, RAMA SIMPLY WALKED OUT. Bwana is always talking BIG but 99% of the time he and GM are forced to eat humble pie. HE’S SIMPLY NOT RELIABLE.
    3. Bwana has the photos, as at June 2011 EC (none other than AR) said they had 25 names, AS BB puts its why has EC resorted to WAVING HANKERCHIEFS. Instead of telling us that they reported the 25 known hooligans to X police station,OB number XX and police have either act/ not acted.
    4. My take these thugs are known to EC, and are needed by them 4 youth security (instead of trained police- EC hire 150 youth and 50 police 4 games). MOST OF ALL ARE EARMARKED TO PLAY A CRUCIAL ROLE IN THE UPCOMING ELECTIONS.

I just wonder, lots of fans (sofaset branches) watch GMFC matches in their homes and video halls, yet we never hear of fans breaking TVs/ roiting.

But EC and police allow GM matches to be ocassions where a small group comes to smoke bhang and drink alcohol for 90mins. Bhang is illegal as 4 alcohol why not go to a bar.
Of course technically the match against city stars was away but We can’t use SSMB managed stadia by force, just as nobody can come to your house or Bwana’s and cause damage for more than 2 years and you sit back. Wouldn’t you be at the police station daily and move up the command chain if no action is taken.
JUST LIKE RAMA SIMPLY WALKED OUT, NOTE THAT NYAMWEYA AND FKF HAVE NO EFFECT ON SSMB. WAKE UP BWANA & EC
