CAF Cup match postponed by a week

GOR MAHIA’S CAF Confederation Cup, first round, return leg tie against Ferroviario de Maputo of Mozambique in Nairobi has been pushed back by a week.

The match earlier scheduled for Match 3 will now take place on March 10 after Mozambicans appealed to CAF for a change of date. The Mozambique national team has a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match away match against Tanzania in Dar-es-Salaam on February 29. Many Ferroviario players are in the national team and would not have had enough time to re-assemble and face Gor Mahia in Nairobi on March 3.

The CAF headquarters granted Ferroviario du Maputo the green light to push their match with Gor Mahia in Nairobi by a week. Gor Mahia lost the first leg in Maputo 3-0 but are hopeful of overturning the result to progress to the next round. “It can be done,” said Gor Mahia assistant secretary Ronald Ngala on Wednesday. “Ferroviario’s defence can be breached and if we get two goals in the first half, we shall be in with a chance to go through.”

Gor Mahia pitted to play AFC Leopards in the opening match of the Kenyan Premier League “Top 8” tournament, which is scheduled to start on March 7. However, KPL deferred the actual dates for all the four matches. Ngala said the KPL decision had a lot to do with other clubs than Gor Mahia’s calendar. “Even though a ‘Top 8’ match for us on March 7, will be too close to the Confederation Cup, which will be played three days later, other clubs also face challenges with domestic fixtures.”

“The ‘Top 8’ matches are in Nairobi on Wednesday nights, so if an up-country team is involved in such a fixtures before returning home for a league match over the weekend, then it is quite a problem. That is why the KPL wishes to schedule the ‘Top 8’ matches after carefully considering other league fixtures,” he said. However, Ngala was upbeat about the impending “Top 8” clash with arch-rivals AFC Leopards. “We are ready to take them head-on,” he said.

@godfrey dont worry its too early. we will pick up the form. and i think the postponement of the game to March 10 is a good thing it will give us time to prepare well so that we whip them 4-0

Attending afc/oserian and city stars/karuturi match yesterday,i made some observation which i feel i should share with fellow bloggers.
As some of you are aware, earlier in the week afc had contracted security firm wells fargo to take care of its’ ticketing and logistics matters.
Whoever was at the stadium could not notice unusual long quees at the ticketing booths ,while inside the stadium, the numbers were just the usual’average’ for an afc match.
Also at all the point of entries, the wells fargo personell were the ones checking the tickets, as the so called ‘bouncers’,were relegated to,- metal detectors,in their hands- doing body searches. The small crowds which usually gather at all the gates with ‘something small’ for the bouncers or those who usually hang around in the hope spotting a familiar bouncer were in for a rude shock.Everybody was forced to access the stadium with a ticket in hand, hence the increased traffic at the ticketing booths.
What am i saying good people?Am saying that to eradicate corruption at the gates(which is so rampant during our home matches),increase our revenue from ticket sales and to bring transparency and accountability from the said revenue, gor mahia should,as a matter of urgency contract a reputable firm to handle ticketing and gate collections. And later announce to the public tôtal collection sales. You will all be suprised when the announcement for gate collections for afc/oserian match are made.
Over to you Rachier and team!

Gentlemen, is there something to learn from the ingwe Wellsfargo ticketing deal. The crowd that watched the ingwe match was less than the usual Sirkal crowd and yet they almost netted a Million bob.

the ticketing deal is a must for accountability and gate proceeds and attendance no.s should be announced b4 the end of each game and posted on the website, this cutting of lines and people known to bouncers accessing the stadium free is rubbish, worse still the officials sitting somewhere and doing what they want with our hard earned gate collections is tantamount to treason, we go out of our way to support the team and the team remains average whereas teams lyk sofapaka with 5 illegal immigrants for fans play better

second i watched the highlights for the maputo game when was the last time we saw gor actually scoring good goals like the last two we conceded, truth is i cannot remember, our playing unit has good talent but average performance without the crowd they are just school boys we need to go for a professional approach to everything from management to coaching to players bcoz the goodwill of the fans is there both morally and financially, tho caf cup we are out lets be honest

    Reply
  • @Osaka, also heard of a Mzungu whose deputy will be AA. But that is just rumours. I believe that AA could be more qualified even than Koops but things are currently working for Koops and not AA. I believe with time we will soon hit the summit. On ticketing why can’t we laso get Wells fargo to do it for us. After all our attendance is far much higher that AFC but a good number hang around the gates and in turn get free or corruption entry. GM advertised for several services some times back. What was the outcome? The EC should know that lack of information is what brings out these rumours resulting in negative comments/behaviours from fans. Were those pledges on accountability, own stadium, web site, revenue generating avenues just campaign gimicks? Somebody please update us. We need to know issues so that we can manage our expectations. How is Lavatsa’s healing progressing? How/Where is Nasio? We ‘beg’ information on these and other issues?

  • IS THE POSPONDMENT A BLESSING IN DISQUISE FOR K’ OGALO?

In the last week, this blog has witnessed unprecedented divergent opinions from fans who are expressing their dissappointment of poor performance by Gor at Maputo when they went down 3 goals to naught.

The return match was however pushed forward for a week to allow players from Ferroviaro, most of them regular call ups to the national team attend the national duties. K’Ogalo knows too well the gigantic task ahead. We do hope the coach will use this window period to rectify the mistakes he observed at Maputo. Otherwise ,It will very tragic for K’ogalo to crash down infront of the passionate supporters.

Gor Mahia is not AFC Leopards. I repeat. Got is not Ingwe and there is no way you can compare the two clubs. It is true the management of AFC leopards is working hard to improve their revenue collections. However we cannot ‘copy and paste’ what they are doing. I am confident the current office is equal to the task. During the last press statement at our secretariat, the chairman outlined several measures to improve our operations which among other includes outsourcing such crucial services such as ticketing and security. It is a process not an event. I therefore our fans to be patient with office while they endevor to improve services at Gor.

All along i’ve read on this site how we want to make k’ogalo kenyan barcelona.
What we should know is that success in football can’t be bought.you have all seen how barca have struggled this season.i’m convinced this is due to the fact that they brought in so many players some of whom are now rotting on the bench.eg affeley.
In the mean time i beg all k’ogalo followers not to either expect or compel the club officials to make any changer, unnecessary for the next three years and i can say it without any fear of contradiction that we will win the league atleast thrice, back to back.lets emulate bundes liga.
We should be economical with our limited financial resources.i fear for the kenyan league because it is taking a wrong path, taking after epl is not the best for us.splashing money anyhowly in form of wages and transfer fees will just distabilize the league and my belovnd k’ogalo.how many of you know what mario gomes of german giants, bayern munichen earn in wages per week?don’t be shocked it is only €45k.compare this to what players of his calibre earn in epl especially those in top teams.
We should as kogalo care more on how we use what we have than how we can actually get more funds for the club.competing with afc, sofapaka and tusker in term of wages for players and offcial will do us more harm than good as a family.for sofa,it’s fine since the owner is reach same to tusker, what will afc do when mumias deal is over?how will they pay those overvalued wages?
i never understood why yusuf juma was bougth for 200k.it should be made clear to all those player who come to gm that this is a community club and no dubious wages for them.
I am economics student at a local university and the trend the league is taking wories me alot.any kind of critique is welcomed.lets build k’ogalo in an economical and sustainable manner.tuzo’s deal will soon be over, what’s next.

mcosweto’s comments will do us more harm than good, football is nowadays a commercial venture not a past time we shld fashion the club in a way as to make it marketable to both fans and commercial ventures so as to generate higher revenues and inturn invest them wisely not only in the playing unit but also in income generating ventures and use the GOR brand name to create buzz and exposure otherwise we will become morribund like wiper. we shld not actually be looking at afc and sofapaka wen shld be looking to emulate T.P mazembe, well managed, with application of good viable ideas u can see the congolese club reaping the rewards the last thing GOR needs is the continuation of the narrow mindedness inherent in our current leadership

Okwiri i appreciate your comment.could you please enlight me on some of the ways we can fashion the club to be marketable.how will we able to convince sponsors that in gm their money is safe while we overbuy.
Investors are intrested in higher profit margins.thir can only be achieved, atleast for now,by reducing on our reccurent expenditure ie no buy for the next three years unless some players leave the club.
Mr okwiri,we cant compete with tp mazembe for now.those guys are way above us.they have large asset base, just last year they bought their second plane while we were struggling to get a club bus.what do we own as a club?i know not any gm owned investment leave alone a club how.
Player brought up in a team are more loyal to the team as compare to those acquired while already well established.compare giggs and rooney, have a look at their salaries and you will understand my point.good youth system and proper financial management are all we need.

To be honest, we do not have a good technical bench. And that man Awono is not a coach. First is his fielding. Do we have defenders any more? Just have a look at our defence against Muhoroni Youth before they scored(2.MUSA 3. JUMA 4.MOSOTI & 4. WEKESA). Why bring Juma to replace Ochieng when David Owino and Teddy Akumu were on the bench. Whey Kevin Ochieng in defence? To him we did not have alternatives. Our coach does not have a starting line up and that is why is always gambling with the team all the time changing the line up. Here is my line up: 1.Any the 3 keepers 2. Nasio (D. Owino)3.Wekesa 4. Mosoti 5.Musa M. 6. Anguyo. 7. Kiplagat 8. Gattuso 9.Lavatsa 10. M. Otieno (Kitawi) 11.M. Odhiambo
Honestly with this team we will beat any team. In modern football, you do not just run and run with the ball. You need to pass the ball and retain possession. Why not us? You can have your say.

The plea by Arrumtiddi on ticketing requires our support and backing. Without sustained calls and reminders to the EC not much change shall be seen on this matter because there are interested parties who would wish to maintain the status quo-and they will employ all manner of persuasion to retain their hands in the candy box.

Whether it is Wells Fargo or otherwise, that is the way to go because there is evidence that it is working. We should not shy away or discard the idea because “it has been implemented by AFC Leopards”. If we entertain such mentality then there is no time that we will ever come close to the likes of AC Djoliba.

AND FINALLY THE TRUTH IS IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN

Good people of K’OGALO please visit gorfc.com and get the latest update on the inside story of events taking place in our beloved club. It’s there in black and white ranging from:
    1. EC officials interference with the technical bench.
    2. Former ZD loyalist sabotaging the technical bench and playing unit.
    3. Coach AA working single handedly in consultation with the chair AA
    4. PM RAO declining the green “TUZO” jersey duo to colour mis match
    5. Some ZD loyal youths applying proper “research” in GM changing room to instil defeats
    6. EC officials taking their girl friends to training fields

@33 Comrade OGANGO TRAILER i have visited the site and it seems that there is more than what you have just highlighted on your above post.

Why is it that LVATSA is blaming the team doctor for mis-treating his injury by insisting on him to apply ice-cubes while playing. IS THE TEAM DOCTOR QUALIFIED?

Why is it that NASIO has no injury but the bench keeps him on the cold without any good reason?

And if RAO declined the “TUZO – GREENT” jersey is that not enough clue to the EC to get our colour right, instead of forcing strange identity to stake-holders?

Are our EC still in honey-moon with their girlfriends at the expense of the club performance?

As for “RESEARCH” K’OGALO has no excuse because they know how to solve the problem without crying foul or blaming it on sabotage. It will cost the club nothing to identify their problems with JO-NDHIWA once and for all.

I’m not sure how an official going with a girlfriend to training session will affect the team’s performance. In mordern football ladies take their place alongside men. They are even club bosses. Writing on things we cannot substantiate is not good for the club. We might not be doing well currently but flimsy reasons wont do. We need strong personalities both in the EC and the tech bench something we are currently missing.
Even a color jersey can never make you lose a game but we need our blue and white color back. The shade must be the shade we know and that’s what we need. Superstition can only go as far as you believe. Remember the issue of winning the charity shield and the EPL myth. It no longer holds. On witchcraft i just wonder if our players are the 50/60’s born or 80/90’s born. Only our forefathers should believe in footy witchcraft. Look at what it did to Ghana. The Gor of 60’s, 70’s had a good number of fans and players who believed in witchraft but i don’t expect the current dot com generation to do that. So guys we will soon run out of excuses if we continue looking for them everywhere. A meeting of branches/EC will iron out these issues instead of all of us picking romours everywhere and taking it as the gospel truth. As i said before unless the office let us know some things which can be dic=scussed in the public domain we will resort to romourmongering. For the 12th time I will ask . Are Nasio and Lavatsa still injured? What about the coach from Serbia to assist AA? I ask these because this is the info I’m getting and nobody is confirming or refuting it. All this for the love of the club

Guys the truth is having watched the three GM matches its only the Mereikh match that was a bit impressive and tactical..Those who are honest know this even those who have decided to keep it in the chest.

In the Muhoroni match something was very seriously a miss! And a lot of us could see a very bitter loss in that match just like it happened in last season’s match against KCB draw of 2-2.

Brother Ogango things are truly bad and issues must be faced head on..the ZD loyalists is not a new thing it happens everywhere and we all heard the story of a fan who was succumbed to serious injuries last year after being beaten up by ZD loyalists, that does not happen only in GM or Kenya only..but remember it hearts the team for some time.Let them also investigate for some sabotage within the tech bench it could also be there.

I wonder why we must abuse wives of our colleagues in the blog, lets be gentle on them and all people it costs very little to be human.

The green colour is GM heritage and the current chair or EC will not succeed in changing it or its shade.. i said earlier that the time for this is coming it will arrive very soon!

why is it that when we loose is when many people will start spreding malicious rumours! there is nothing like sabotage in the team, you can not expect us to win all matches just like that.A loss is a loss,a win is a win and a draw is a draw, these are all football results that kogalo faithfulls should learn to embrace. After all, it is the technical bench that failed when they stopped nurturing young talent and going for big names. When kogalo finished position 2 in 2010,we had no big name, they were all youthfull (same age group)and dedicated players who knew what they wanted in football. It is the same squad that won the FKL CUP that previous year,it produced player of the year in George ‘BlackBerry’,defender Eric Masika e.t.c .But what happened when AA started going for big wigs? we lost our glory, lets retrace our steps KOGALO yawa, stop rumour mongering. I love this young girl ‘GOR MAHIA’ but she keeps on hurting me and my pride.

Remember Mzee Siang’a? He went for youth. Did we give him time? Could we be trusted to give AA time had he gone for youth? All in all even those players who were recruited are equally young with the exception of one or two older and more experienced ones so as to blend youth with experience.
