Calabar headed for Simba

Despite earlier reports that Owino “Calabar” was only interested in a move to Europe, he has reportedly agreed to terms with Simba sports club of Dar es Salaam. According to Hans Poppe, who is in charge of transfers at Simba, Calabar will be in Dar es Salaam this weekend to put pen to paper.

“We have already held talks with David Owino and agreed with his club Gor Mahia to sign him, Poppe told futaa.com while speaking from Kigali, Rwanda.  I will know when the player will come to put pen to paper once I return to Dar es Salaam but all had been done and agreed between the two parties before I left for Rwanda.”

Indeed Calabar has been seen around the City searching for travel papers.

Gor Mahia CEO Lordvick Aduda denied that Calabar was on his way out as did Ronald Ngala.

I am not aware as the CEO. No issue has been brought on my desk over David Owino’s transfer neither have I heard of Simba approach. Should they go ahead to sign him then we are entitled to suing the club at FIFA because that will be player tapping which is unacceptable, Aduda told futaa.com

However it will be remembered that Ngala was denying that Sserunkuma was leaving even while Sserunkuma was in a hotel in Dar es Salaam meeting with Simba officials. The point is that the way players operate nowadays, club officials are always in the dark.

The only upshot is that since his contract with Gor Mahia has not terminated, the club may be entitled to a transfer fee.

Calabar has been the most reliable and most consistent defender in Kenya over the past two years. He has been solid for both club and country while also making forays forward.

Clap Clap Something small to smile about at long last.
Good people please rest assured that CEO and Jabilo did hand over Gor Mahia.net contribution to the club.

Such ventures or initiatives need independent varification and I have just chanced across it.
    See below:

The Nairobian last Wednesday December 10th hosted Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia FC to a luncheon at the Standard Media Group Center along Mombasa Road, Nairobi. During the afternoon treat, the city’s fastest rising paper awarded the former African Champions Sh100,000 for the good performance.

The Nairobian’s Managing Editor Charles Otieno together with George Okoth, Standard Group’s Head of Production also gave the players a cash token on behalf of Gor Mahia’s blogger branch,

The event was organized to launch a partnership deal between the Standard Media Group and Gor Mahia FC in a SMS driven campaign seeking to mobilise fans to raise funds for Gor by texting the word GOR to 22840. “The Nairobian is a paper that supports and promoted local sports. We would like to instill a culture amongst Kenyans to give first priority to the local teams and sporting disciplines.

Weche Gor Tek but I now want to thank Jabilo/CEO and all contributors both in cash and kind. Guys we set a system whereby though we did not meet physically accountability and transparency was top notch and has not only been there but seen to be there by all & sundry. In future though I still want us to get an official receipt in such matters.
On a sad note I still maintain that GM’s EC is too bloated such that the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. From the transfer fiascos some EC members are aware that players are leaving and probably bokering the deals while others are seemingly in the dark.

    All the best Calabar.

My only query for now is on sponsorship. How far or rather has anyone followed up with the president?

I know in this world no one would like to live on uncertainties so as it stands, we can only keep players who are desperate, not unless they are assured of their monthly salaries.

Let me give a crazy example – for those who are married, if you keep on telling your children and wife how you are not sure about tomorrow, you may end up losing your wife unless she (unless otherwise). Even children may go to stay with aunties and uncles…

Anyway I know players come and go but the club is there to stay so let’s not be discouraged about those who are leaving for greener pastures; let’s focus on those who are remaining and those who are willing to join.
