CNaPs coach: Gor Mahia were just lucky

CNaPs coach Rabeharisua Herimanitra has indicated that he was delighted with the performance of his charges during the opening leg of the 2015 Africa champions league  preliminary round. Coach Herimaitra indicated that his team deserved to win more than the hosts.

““I feel a draw would have been a fair result. We lost two clean chances that could have changed the tide of the game. We need to come up with a winning formula and regain our confidence and ensure we win our return leg match.” he said according to supersport.com

He also indicated that Gor Mahia were far below expectations.

I respect Gor but this is not the team I was anticipating to meet. They were not sharp in striking and the penalty was suspicious.”

According to him Gor Mahia benefited from refereeing decisions.

“It was a serious omission by the whistler not to send off that tall Gor striker who fell in the box for the decisive penalty. It was an obvious incident that he should have spotted and taken action.”

Gor Mahia do indeed have a tall order as they face CNaPs in Antananarivo in 2 weeks. And as they defend their slim lead, they will have to do it without tough as nails defender Collins Okoth “Gattuso”.

Gattuso is said to have walked away in anger after coach Nuttall named him on the bench.

“Immediately the coach (Frank Nuttall) announced starting line-up on Saturday, Okoth simply walked away and later we heard that he sat on the terraces through-out the match. It is very disappointing and we are considering what disciplinary action to take against him. We had a crucial game and needed all our best players.” said Bobby Ogolla to goal.com

Not surprisingly, the Madgascans excelled in wing play, something that they have always done. But they are not physically strong. A tenacious player like Gattuso is perhaps what Gor Mahia needs in midfield.

@admin, i agree with you about Gattuso’s usefulness and tenacity as you call it. But don’t you think he also needs to know that the team needs him and vice versa? More so when Cantona and Santo are playing the way they are! Our salvation is Wendo and i pray that Nuttal believes in him and gives him a first team role this campaign alongside Aucho. Take the Sofa game for example where they complemented each other so well. Anyone who watched Wendo in pre-season would agree the lad has the capacity to match and even surpass Gattuso. But knowing Nuttal and his liking for certain ineffective players, we may just see him having Cantona as his preferred second central midfielder this season. If that be so, we are bound to struggle in midfield and resort to what some honourable bloggers call ‘patia Sserunkuma’ tactics. God forbid!!!!!

  • So for how long does Gatusso want Gor Mahia fans to understand him? You can be as talented as Lionel Messi but if you don’t have self discipline you won’t go very far. For me, it’s Industry, hard work and discipline over talent without discipline at any time!! This young man is going to destroy himself if the coaches do not reign on him right now to help him. Gatusso, why are you hellbent on destroying your career! Consider how many Brazilians never Made it to the team to represent their country in the World Cup of 2014? Humble yourself if you want God go lift you up – the good book (the Bible) tells us so. You will soon be on your own and I wonder if thee is any coach prepared to touch you even with a ten foot pole. We don’t want to see you begging to mzee ends meet because we know you can earn your keep playing football. Listen to your coaches as they have been there and done that.

if we are not careful with our offensive play we will end up resorting to ‘patia olunga’ tactics.

kogallo is a lot more physical, tactically astute and mentally stronger than the Madagascans. Yes they have good and fast footed wingers but let them not play psychology, return leg will be a walk in the park just like was the team from seychells (no doubt ) but only if Nutall gets his formation right particulary in the midfield…..4-3-3 will kill the game !!!!

What became of this Ghanaian called tawfiq ?

Gor Mahia can beat this team in return so long as they believe in themselves. Once the Cnaps realised Gor was to heavy they started relying on theatrics which mostly included provocation. Players like Blackberry who should know better simply fell into the trap. The ref could have actually given him a red card and he would have cost the team victory. I do not think that Collins Okoth is indispensable. You cannot employ a player simply with a mission to give hard tackles on to opponents. Gor might as well recruited a rugby player for that purpose. Collins type of play simply does not fit with the new play the coach is trying to employ. Infact most of the line up that made last years line up seem to be very lost with the new pattern of play and it’s not supprising most are on bench. The pattern of play seemed to fizzle out against Cnaps more so on the second half of the game. Once the Cnaps realised it’s only Olunga who can do damage they resorted to rough house tactics. Against Sofapaka, A.Abondo gave Olunga the support and this made a good option. I did not see this against Cnaps. The Cnaps coach is simply letting out gas and ‘counting the what ifs’, which Gor can also do. At the end of the day his team lost no matter how many ‘what ifs’ he comes up with.

  • We cannot be the jury and the judge at the same time. I think we need to find out good reasons as to why he behave in such manner considering the kind of task which was ahead. It is not appropriate to blankly start demonizing him before hearing from the horses mouth, otherwise I believe the TB have the mechanism and capacity to deal with such cases without necessary going public then creating panic from fans.

Picking from how CNAPS coaches talk, he is insinuating that only lack can beat them. He has turned a blind to the good side of K’Ogalo. He is scared stiff especial now that he is going to try to stop Gor from that away goal but at the same time wanting to score. No wonder they were resorting to those uncouth tactics. Gor will beat these guys on their soil. Let the team maintain cool heads, maintain mental alertness to the end. Be aware of their quickness of feat and just frustrate them by note letting them score a quick goal and you will be home and dry.

@Bob, you got it right. I still insist there are better mechanisms of handling Gatuso’s issue. Emotionally some fans get worked up with such. Remember the Jerry incident in Msa

@bob and Dan Original the information we have is that once the starting line up was unveiled he walked off and knowing him it is not hard to believe. if you have a different version of what transpired, tell us or stop making such a straight foward issue complicated. IF WHAT WE WERE TOLD IS WRONG AND YOU HAVE THE TRUTH , TELL US!!!!!!

Currently GMFC is one club with 2 squads. The weak EC/CAF squad (where already 3 or so players have been ejected by Nutall) & the stronger squad which includes the Rwandese available for the league etc.

Regarding gate collections security, goal scoring & entertaining soccer & simple maths is the panacea.
For VIP charge 350bob & attract 4,000 fans, terrace charge 150 & attract 15,000 fans. Total collection =3.65million. EC remember you want to maintain high collection for all 15 home games.

@Symple, I think you are missing the point. No one has said that such behaviour should be condoned. In fact it should be severelly discouraged within the laws of the club. Fans do not necessarily need to be told the details of the fault. Unless you also support the fans who confronted Jerry in Msa. But anyway different people handle issues differently.
Back to more important issues. Looks like we will need to cough up some money to actualize our trip to Madagascar. Branch Chairmen have been summoned to deliberate on the financial status of the team

Finally the self styled “wenye” Gor players r being forced 2 fight 4 their positions.
I support SIr Bob showing some backbone after all Teargas left & came back more focussed. Gatusso can go AGAIN.
Administrative confusion at EC has led 2 a weak CAF squad. Mara AR says Sacco 2 be launched on 28/12/14, the Ngala on 15/2/15. So far no AGM, then a week to the CAF return game “ati branch chairmen”. All this “mobilization” should have been preseason anyway Kampala Branch chair pliz represent bloggers.
