Coach Bobby in Cairo attending certification course as Emuge arrives

Gor Mahia assistant coach, Bobby Ogolla who has been running the show in the absence of Logarusic, has been in Cairo attending a training course for all coaches. CAF has instituted a new regulation requiring all coaches participating in continental events to attend this course in order to gain a CAF certificate. Coaches who lack this certificate will be barred from sitting on the bench during continental matches.

A coach who has UEFA license is exempt from this rule. Hence Zdvarko Logarusic will not be required to obtain a UEFA license. Ogolla is set to return to the club on Sunday January 13. When he returns, he will find Ugandan defender Israel Emuge who arrived in the country on Thursday. Ogolla had been in Uganda for several days negotiating with several Ugandan players including Robert Sentongo, last year’s leading scorer in the Ugandan league

And all activity regarding player recruitment is suffering because the Log must approve. If I may ask where did the Log watch Israel Omuga so as to approve his signing? Or shall he send the defender packing “because the defender does not meet his specifications”?

It is ridiculous and unfortunate that all the reliable, tested and proved players GM had earmarked for signing (read Blackberry, Blaty and Obadiah Ndege) have been snapped up by City, Brewers and Efusi respectively because the Log’s last word was beeing awaited….Yes awaiting for someone who seems not to care much about the huge task we have ahead and thinks more of holidaying. Coach Logarusic the back shall stop with you if we don’t end up with some tactical and strategic signings. Can you please earn the money you made so much noise about? How does your prolonged holidaying help Gor Mahia? Please realise Gor Mahia needs you as much as you need Gor Mahia and stop playing the superior partner here.

@Barefoot Bandit, the back does not stop with the coach but our executive office. I think we have a big problem in Gor Mahia and the current leadership will have to blamed at the end of the season if we do not win any trophy this season.

How can our executive office give coach such luxury to stay away from training for about three weeks? Who will oversee the recruitment exercise? On my opinion, this is reckless which should have never been allowed by the Admin. Failure by the coach to return by next week should make him be fired and replaced.

In our office we have brokers that have been eyesore to the club as some of these officials have been extorting money from any targeted players by inflating transfer fees. These officials have been accused of malpractice regarding gate collections mishaps as well as organising fund raising events that have only benefited them in one way or another without any proper accountability.

  • Bwana Bandit relax! Team imeiva. We will add Olando and Mutiso and then we are good to go.

The youngster we signed (under 20) ako juu tu sana. Do you remember him? Do you recall how he ran rings round our defence in the friendly?

Our Nigerian wants a place in Super Eagles this year so i trust that he will deliver something. Our Kiongera also looks up to task. I saw flashes of brilliance when he played for the Stars. Did you? Otieno in defence looks really strong and confident. Israel ‘Omuga’ as you call him is a wall. If size matters, then we are set.

Have you seen Zachary? Together with Jerim and our towel man, who will beat us.

I am willing to bet that this season we will be much stronger than last. Most of our players are looking much stronger physically and of course after the Thika Utd debacle, they will be stronger mentally too.

Bwana Bandit are you willing to bet?

There is another concern – Bobby at least will be back from Egypt with the CAF certification after 3 days? What about Logarusic?

In future there should be clear policies on recruitments and leave/absenteeism. Even in your place of work are the employees the ones to decide when they’ll be back to work? Hiyo mimi sijawahi-ona!

@2 Mwakio – I agree with you that there is a problem, especially now that the office is creating a loophole on the coach issue and these recruitments. By now we should be getting briefings on who are our new sponsors, etc but not who has not yet reported to work.

Am also optimistic abt this season and our signings have been astute, I could not agree more with creative village. Can’t wait for the season to get started.

  • @Creative Village, I like your analysis. Let’s get players because they can deliver now and not because they delivered some two/three years ago. As much as BB was our darling those days the fact is that since he left Gor he has had very little playing time even at Randers who were playing 2nd tier football or even Azam where aAtudo and Mieno became first team members instantly. I believe we cannot risk again like we did last year with our recruitment. Once he shows his class at City where i believe he will be given more space than at Gor then GM can always go for him.The only player I would have ‘died’ to get from that list is Blaty who is now in Bandari (not Tusker as indicated). Otherwise if we can get Mutiso and Alphie(Olando) we should be OK. We don’t want another 33 players in our list like last year. If Loga is not yet back GM operations should not stop as it is a going concern and Bobby can handle the recruitment. After all we expect him to have understudied Loga for the whole season.

  • OGOLLA’S CAF COURSE TIMELY AND WELCOME

I personally welcome the decision by the EC to sent the assistant coach for a CAF course in Egypt.

Sir Bobby is a legend of this great club and it is not fair that when an opportunity knocks, he should given first priority. And so to other ex- Gor Mahia greats. Kenyan coaches should wake up to the really that the competition for these plum job both in the club and national level is stiff.

Last year alone, we have seen an avalanche of foreign coaches invade the local league, some with very high academic and professional qualifications. Our local coaches still treat football coaching a past – time job. Thus their upward mobility stagnate for years

These sad fate of affairs can be seen from
the number of referees and coaches Kenya is contributing in the Confederation of African Football and to the African continent.

This training is therefore a much welcome move and should be continous because it has far reaching ramifications in the long run. Congratulations Sir Bobby!

Discipline is key for success in everything we do and self-discipline is an ultimate and madatory pre-requisite if we want those we lead and mentor to embrace and show the same. Our success in employment depends alot in our self-discipline and respect for the authority of the employer regardless of the skin colour, age, religious belief, culture, ethunic origin or race of that employer. Some food for thought.
