Coach Zico summoned

In a bid by club officials, to show that they take the recent poor performance of the club seriously, coach Zedekiah Otieno “Zico” has been summoned in front of Kogalo officials to explain the recent poor performance by the club. He is apparently going to answer as to whether he is finding it difficult to handle both the club and the national team. This could be a ruse by some to retain Zico as club coach and pull him out of the national team.

Zico along with the entire technical bench are expected to appear on Tuesday September 20th. Club deputy secretary Ronald Ngala  said after an executive committee meeting that ended on Wednesday evening  that they could not make comprehensive conclusions since the club Chairman Ambrose Rachier was absent.

Why Rachier would be missing from such a critical meeting is not understood . Is is busy campaigning for the FKL position ?

Seven officials attended the meeting . “We had a fruitful meeting this evening and since we lacked two crucial members in our Executive committee led by Chairman Ambrose Rachier who send an apology, we could not come up with a comprehensive conclusion. We have summoned the technical bench to appear before us next week on Tuesday. There seems to be a problem that led to the team dropping crucial points which we are ready to address  in amicable way’ observed Ngala. Ngala disclosed that a final conclusion will be delivered on Wednesday where the fate of the technical bench members led by Zico will be known.
According to starAfrica,  organising secretary Tom Ataro has disclosed that a peaceful demonstration is set for tomorrow(friday) to urge Zico and the club Chairman Ambrose Rachier to quit. The procession is set to start from Nairobi’s Uhuru Park from 10 am and end at the Prime Minister Hon .Raila Odinga’s  office.

    Peaceful demonstration: good idea.
If that fails to convince those holding GM at ransom then plan B: we file court injunction to keep Rachier and his blue-eyed boy, Zico, away “for awhile”.

  • Is all these as a result of lack of leadership or arrogance from the GM office holders? At this point we need sober thinkers so as to finish the league in a respectable position. Being combative, dismissive, abusive etc will not help. How I wish the chair could provide that leadership. All the fans need to hear is that something is being done. I believe even if they are told that currently we cannot engage a new coach within the remaining time then ZD and co. can continue to offer their services till the end of the season. For some of us who are pointing at such and such coach in Europe should know these guys don’t just pack their suitcases and head somewhere because they have beed mentioned in some blog. And are we also ready to pay for breach of contract the moment the fans haunt them out of office before their contracts are over? Mind you we are yet to pay Uinzi for the damages. Read (gorfc.com) that some branches will hold a demo today. Is that necessary? Are all the avenues exhausted? Thank God the only branch that seems to care about the future of the club (Facebook) is abstaining. Let’s think of our players as most of them are young and might be further distracted from all these shinanigans. Everybody has raised their issue and the time now is to sit down and reason together. Emotional and irrational reactions have never been productive. I’m looking forward to the KCB and AFC matches as the league is getting more and more open. (@Ja Ngere Ibra is injured and that’s why he didn’t play last nite. Take time to watch other teams as well and you might realise that our problems are not unique and the only difference is the way we handle ours). If only we could use this time to counter the criticism that is associated with the club supporters then we would have made a very big statement both in and out of the field. What if the EC decides that ZD continues holding his position? What will we do? Go by them as our leaders or resort to mobocracy? I believe only a fool doesn’t change their mind and the fact that we can use this channell for communication then we are all learned beings. We need stability and if it means telling ZD (like i HOPE THEY WILL DO ON tUESDAY) that we are hurting and he recognises that then let’s move forward. As we are busy dismantling our house some are fortifying theirs

  • I surpport dan 100percent! Honestly guys we cant solve our problems by throwing stones! Remember Zico was our player long time ago and should be respected 4 that! We should emulate mabango style of europe where you air ya grivances by writing! For christssake fans nowadays we have women and children coming to watch our games dont you feel for them? Plis lets leave this stonage habit of stone missiles and am sure more fans will come to watch our matches!

fighting does not help i agree 100% but our issue is that every time an issue rises which needs to addressed professionally it boils down to hooliganism to show the way as an organized outfit complain about Zedekiah’s conduct started from the first match of the season , eg the issue of players indiscipline more to it is counseling not suspension which hurts the team on the playing field if so we sell the players and get a more able one i pray that we should be fast to act on issues of progres even those planning the demo have no option , the mister clean lot too, want the best for the club not few individuals as i have said always no supporter is bigger than the other .kogallo needs us all it is tricky trying to have us all in ,if there was clear channel of communication we would not have the pricing of tuzo jersey done in the press and the tender warded to jarabuon

I am very sure that none of the Kogalo fans who contribute in this blog support stone throwing and none has ever thrown a stone.

@2 Dan and @3 Omuchura read what Wuon Pap has to say in the ” Fallout following the loss…” article and you will understand that stone-throwing is a creation of an aloof and arrogant executive office.Had they developed a channel of communication between them and every stakeholder in GM (no matter how small)then even those who throw stones would have no excuse to do so.

Those fans have unanswered questions and what frustrates them into stone throwing is that nobody is ready to give them a chance to listen or explain issues to them. They may be small and inconsequential but you would be amazed at the constructive ideas that can come from their belittled minds.

@Jackowili and @jb gm see my beginning statement.

Is all these as a result of lack of leadership or arrogance from the GM office holders?

Could it be the cause of all our problems?

I am lost for words how is our beloved GM being run. From March/April already there were very worrying signs abt GM’s performance yet it takes 7 months for the officials to summon Ziko (reminds me of 8 months it took us to get the bus.)My feeling that the technical bench’s performance should be reviewed even after very game in particular when the team is performing below par. At this crucial time why were the 2 senior most EC members absent, in fact AR should have been the one to call the meeting. Finally we’ve seen Ziko’s explanation on the pitch. Just get us another coach procrastination will not make things any better.

Dan..kindly avoid the holier than thou attitude.
I am a member of another branch, am not aware as at now of the demo you’re talking about but had i known i would have taken some time off to take part for very many reasons two of which are- i don’t throw stones and demos give me an opportunity to express what i feel. Two, i don’t believe in keeping quiet ineffectively, that is when i want to achieve something i go for it!

Facebook is just one of the branches in GM but is not the only branch, do you mean to tell us that they have an IQ a step better than all the remaining branches? May you be informed that we live in the era of freedom, reason and development, all branches are able to make independent and mature decisions binding on members..

Accordingly my branch is meeting on Sunday at 2 P.m whatever decision we reach in that meeting shall be binding on us as members regardless of what Facebook branch decides to do or appear to look like.

Dan..you’ve reacted as a person who’s bent on his superiority without listening to other people’s views as well, but this is a forum just for sharing not making decisions..

-Have you ever read several of us complaining about branch leaders seeking meeting with the GM officials to sort out issues, and isn’t this evasion by officials not the cause of hooliganism surrounding the club fraternity?
-Which branch is amorphous after being registered with the Registrar of Societies? What can be more legal in this country than a certificate from registrar be it Marriage certificate,Death Certificate,Birth,Incorporation etc.

-Are you telling us that the officials should take blogs more seriously than branches?
Open your eyes to the fact that everyone chooses a branch to affiliate with and no branch is superior to others no matter what you think or do.

Football is not a chance game it has a lot to do with planning..well, Ulinzi reduced Tursker’s chances yesternight but are we saying that all these teams will lose so that we lift the trophy..did we not see our current situation coming.

Fans let us understand that going by the way we’ve been performing it will take a miracle for us to lift the trophy especially if Zico is left at the helm there. We need not throw stones in fighting for any trophy ..lets retire to the fact that we’ll live to fight another season when we get our planning mechanism right..but any expressions, communication and suggestions is allowed anytime and at any relevant fora.

  • Kassam@ please read gorfc.com on the demo. I have no issues with demos but when we demo on issues we can handle in-house then I have an issue there. I wish our branches were given more power to make decisions even in the absence of the chair and his vice. So long as the decisions augur well for the club. Your closing remarks are apt only that miracles still happen and we can win the FKL cup if we don’t win the league. As much as we have issues on the bench time is actually running out for the changes we are asking for and as Harambee stars assemble next week it will/might be too late to make any meaningful changes.

The demo is a good idea but look at the organiser wolves in the sheep yard. Ataro and etal have been the problem in the Gor Mahia.

ZD HAS PREDICTED THAT WE CAN STILL WIN THE TITLE AS LONG AS ALL OTHER TEAMS DROP POINTS !!!! READ THE DAILY NATION 16/9/11 SPORTS .FROM WHAT I HAVE READ IN THIS BLOG ,ALL OF US ARE SERIOUS,HARDWORKING KENYANS.WE CARE FOR THIS CLUB.HOW WE HAVE DECIDED TO PUT UP WITH SUCH CHARACTERS-ZD,IS WHAT AMAZES ME.WHY CANT SOME OF US SOBERLY EXAMINE WHAT WE HAVE BEEN DOING ON THE PITCH ALL SEASON.THIS LEAGUE IS ONE OF THE WEAKEST IN THE CONTINENT AS RESULTS POSTED WHEN WE MEET TEAMS FROM RWANDA AND SUDAN CONFIRM.IF WE WERE TO MEET APR TODAY WHAT WOULD BE THE RESULTS AS THE THUMPING WE GOT AT NYAYO WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A LESSON.WHEN YOU SIT DOWN AND WATCH SOCCER ON YOUR TVS WHY IS IT THAT WHEN YOU GO TO THE STADIUM TO WATCH YOUR LOCAL CLUB YOU DEMAND LESS? DEMOS OR NO DEMOS WE SHOULD NOT CHEAT OURSELVES THAT THINGS ARE WELL IN THIS LEAGUE.THAT IS THE REASON EVEN OUR NATIONAL TEAM SUFFERS AGAINST MINNOWS LIKE ERITREA AND BISSAU.FEEDER SYSTEMS- YOUTH TEAMS, SHOULD BE THE FOUNDATION OF ALL CLUBS BUT IN KPL MOST CLUBS DONT TAKE YOUTH SOCCER SERIOUSLY.WE HAVE POSTED HERE ON MANY OCCASSIONS ON THE NEED OF AN ACADEMY BUT MOST FANS ARE COMFORTABLE WITH WEEKENDS RESULTS AND LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEXT MATCH WITHOUT THINKING OF THE NEXT SEASON OR THE FUTURE OF THE CLUB.THERE IS NO FOUNDATION TO BUILD ANY SUCCESS YET WE DREAM OF WINNING THE KPL LEAGUE ,FKL CUP ? WHEN WILL WE EVER BE SERIOUS ENOUGH TO CONFRONT THE BASIC CHALLENGES WE HAVE?

Wuonpap u have said it all. I dont think even GOD can reward those who know where the problem is and still continue to predict the imposible. How can someone tell us that he can secure all the remaining 24points at this time when he could not against the weak opponents .He should be telling us God will be wearing the green/white jersy on the remaining matches 4 such miracle to happen. We know who the problem is .

the chairman cannot attend an important crisis management meeting!in other words he’s telling us that he doesnt’ give a damn about what happens at gor mahia.A very casual way of running a team, the heights of impunity, blatant arrogance, sheer mediocrity.how insensitive?mr. chairman atleast, pretend that your concerned rather than showing us open contempt. The centre can no longer hold.as for this ataro man, what makes him think that he will be spared when this office is shown the door?(which am quiet certain will come sooner rather than later).and by the way what was the PM supposed to do?this’s why we’re laughed at.

back to the league, as today stands, without a character like blackberry Gor is dead as a dodo this season. All the leading contenders are not likely to lose a single point at this juncture. Being an athletic nation that we are KENYA its back to the K
alenjins vs Ethiopians in the last lap.Like Raila once said he will finishthe race the Kalenjin style, well Kogalo?
