Congo United beat Kogalo

In a match played at the newly renovated Mombasa municipal stadium, Gor Mahia were unceremoniously beaten in the FKL cup by Congo United. Gor Mahia who had flown to Mombasa in yet another unprecedented event were literally brought down to earth when they lost on penalties (10-9) to Congo United.

The Mombasa side has proven a tough nut to crack having forced Kogalo to a 2-2 draw in the 1st leg. Wednesday was no different. Congo dominated the 1st 20 minutes but Kogalo then took over the proceedings.

In the second half, both teams were redueced to 10 men. Wycliff Ochomo was ejected for a second bookable offense. The game ended in a barren draw and went on to penalties.

All  players from each team took penalties, including the two goalkeepers took penalties after Rama and Mwangili Selenga missed theirs.

In the second round of the penalties, Erick Masika, who had scored the opening penalty for Gor Mahia, had his penalty saved by Evans Omondi, while Rama, who had missed his first penalty, scored the winning penalty for Congo.

Scorers for Gor Mahia were Mohammed Musa, Moses Odhiambo, Nasio Solomon, Moses Otieno, Fred Onyango, Christopher Wekesa, Kevin Ochieng and Kevin Omondi.

Coach Zico said his players were tired after playing against AFC Leopards on Sunday. Which begs the question as to why well rested players like Ezekiel Odera were not used. Indeed Gor Mahia played very well in the first half but could not break through. Gor Mahia fans will now be hoping for a reprieve that will see them stay in the tournament as the best loosers.

  • Came up short at the coast due to tiredness, regroup and send a clear message that Kogalo is back on the saddle.

When you play a game 90 minutes and tie then lose on penalties you are not literally brought down to earth, the commentator up here ought to chose fair descriptives. That is a small set back guys. Lets focus on the league now. Next is the brewer, get them intoxicated with their own brews. What are the rules of the FKL Cup? Did I hear that Kogalo still moves on to the next round as best losers?

the writer, if both teams were reduced to 10 men how then can “All 11 players from each team take penalties”

Hii article was done in a hurry or we have a new employe here.

  • Let us put this small setback behind us and focus fully on Tusker. It is clear that the players were exhausted and did not have time to acclamatize in Mombasa; it get really humid there.

The commentator appears to be in a real hurry to bring kogalo to their knees. It wont happen.First kogallo is not out yet in that tonament. And secondly it was a good show having lost on penalties. We are still among the last five.Kongo pray u dont come our way again.

I wish also to commend our boys for fighting hard and accept the defeat with humility. The weather & jet lag contributed to our poor showing. As they say, let us surrender so as to fight another day.

The only consolation for us is to win the FKL title . Tusker FC is a good side coached by none other than Pamzo, our former tactician, Many contributors on this blog have allege that the gentleman hate Gor with passion. Whether this allegation is true or false, it is a subject of debate.

Chairman Rachier is gunning for the to post in the forthcoming elections. I wish to personally pay special tribute to him. He has demostrated in his short stint at Gor as a forthright leader, has passion for the game and a busineess acumen. During his tenure at Gor, he succeeded to secure a lucrative sponsorship for the club. He has a thick skin and firm in his decisions. We wish him good luck.

Our march is on and nobody can stop us.

  • Guys, Gor Mahia is still in the FKL cup competition courtesy of “best losers”, . . . .so nothing much to lose, if anuuthing that was a good training nfor our match against Tusker who themselves had a friendly match yesterday, . . . . . those who report should arrange for more English refresher courses because their stories dont add up like the one we are commenting on here, . . . ..so as K’ogallo members let us pray for a win on Wednesday night. . . . . sorry, Lavatsa got injure d again, . . . .let us remember him in our prayers . . .. .one mighty k’ogallo

  • Personally I would have prefered the Chairman to concentrate on Gor as there are lots of unfinished business before vying for a national post. His association with a big club might work against him. Hussein and Sholei to me make a good combination and a break from the past. Hussein has actually proved his love for soccer at the grassroots with the support for Xtreme tuornament. All the same I can only wish the chairman the best. By the way whan are the other players like Macheda, Kaguuzi, Anguyo etc going to get play time?

  • Why does Gor Mahia blow hot then cold, surely Congo are even below AFC in the league standings. We needed this FKL Cup since we want to start gunning for continental honours. Management, coaches and the players must get their act together and be more consistent. To me this ahibu ndogo ndogo must stop such teams as Congo, City stars should dispatched by our “second eleven”. If we cite fatigue now what about when we have to deal with continental matches as well, ama it was a culture shock being flown to mambasa (can’t find any other excuse y we lost to Congo), well guys get used to it sababu GM has style

Life goes on..guys i think Pamzo is a cool guy, lets understand in this bizness it matters more where ur bread is buttered.. I believe he wished us dropping points coz we’re a big threat to his team..by extension his job regarding the title but still its just football..just a game. Lets win games on the pitch and celebrate large without witch hunting..

GM SHOULD CONCENTRATE FULLY ON THE KPL LEAGUE .LETS WAIT FOR THE NEW FOOTBALL OFFICE TO ORGANIZE A CUP COMPETITION DECENT ENOUGH TO BEFIT GORS STATUS.WE NEED PLAYERS WHO ARE FIT TO FACE PAMZOS BOYS.LETS FOCUS ON THE REAL PRIZE.THIS FKL THING IS A FREAK SHOW.WHOEVER HEARD OF BEST LOSERS IN A KNOCKOUT CUP COMPETITION?!! THE MONEY COLLECTED FROM THE MATCH HAS ALREDY BEEN SWINDLED BY THE MSA COUNCIL ASKARIS. IS THIS WHAT WE AS A PRIME CLUB WANT TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH.

THE SOFA SET BRANCH…guys i digress and return to this topic, i think we should make it a reality. A lady colleague who has just returned from leave tells me how she enjoyed Gor/AFC from the comfort of her house and that she is now officially a sofa set branch member. Let me re-emphasize that with an mpesa a/c dedicated to this branch and with clear accountability, this branch can raise a reasonable amount of money every match. Remember on Match days when Gor is the away team the collection will still belong to Kogalo. We can charge them a nominal fee of Kes 100.00. Let’s give it a shot. Movements are driven like this.

  • Technical team is to blame for this! how does a team fly, arrive at venue, warm up and play within 6 hrs in a different weather region! Don’t they understand the idea of acclimatisation!

  • Thanks for the ideas you have contributed in Gor Mahia News » Congo United beat Kogalo. Something important I would like to say is that personal computer memory demands generally increase along with other advances in the engineering. For instance, as soon as new generations of processor chips are introduced to the market, there’s usually a corresponding increase in the type demands of both computer system memory plus hard drive space. This is because software program operated by way of these processors will inevitably surge in power to make use of the new technologies.
