Dynamos rematch called off, Gor Mahia now head for Kisumu

Gor Mahia secretary general Ronald Ngala has announced that the rematch with Power Dynamos of Zambia will not materialize. Instead Gor Mahia will head to Kisumu to play two friendly matches against SoNy Sugar and Muhoroni Youth.

“After we failed to get a re-match against Power Dynamos, we have decided to travel to Kisumu for two matches – against Muhoroni and Sony.” said Ngala to goal.com

It seemed implausible that the Dynamos coach would agree to a rematch. Firstly they do not want to play too many games. Secondly, the win over Gor Mahia gives them bragging rights and confidence which can easily be reversed in the unlikely event that Gor Mahia beats them the second time around.

Gor Mahia will now head to the Kisumu to give their loyal lakeside fans a chance to see the new signings. The two matches will also provide coach Frank Nuttall further opportunities to seal the loopholes in the teams tactical approach. Gor Mahia has plenty of ground to cover before their match against CNaPs.

Ooh Laa la ..!! “It is a case of once beaten twice shy”..!!

@ Secretary general did we fail to get a re-match against DYNAMOS or it was the TB which declined to play them upon there request to do so. It is better to speak the reality and face facts as it is. If result was not an issue then DYNAMOS re-match was the best platform to test our preparedness.

From so many previous post i have read, majority of our fans have resigned to the fact that we will no progress farther than first two rounds in CAF competition both technically and bearing in mind the financial implication.

Anyway the more we keep on losing friendly matches the more the players will lose confidence and be demoralized before the D-day. It is up to the TB to do their part by impacting a winning mentality other than the lame excuses and change the trend sooner than later.

Hehehehe even if it was you, will you re-play after winning?

Any football match can go either way and each time a team wins it’s like ‘they are lucky for that day’. Many a times you can never beat a team more than once so Power Dynamos is quite aware of that fact and cannot play Gor Mahia…

Anyway, I am confident that we can do better in the continental scene than we did last year. Condition is one: Start scoring goals.

Safe journey boys to Kisumu city.

This season I am appealing to fans to stop harassing motorists after the match. It dents our image. Even destroying anything at the Tom Mboya monument should stop. If we can’t respect other people’s properties then that is really bad.

Former Kogalo player Kevin Omondi scores as Sofapaka edge Dyanamos 1-0. Perhaps a sign that Gor Mahia and Sofapaka are headed in different directions

These Kisumu matches while are also good tests are also for money I believe and why not. Let “home” supporters come in good numbers peacefully and donate to the club kitty by way of gate collections. I like it and the team needs that now more than ever. Going by recent happenings alone Nairobi/Msa supporters have turned a
tad hostile and cannot support proper preparations for the team. If possible, keep Kisumu base until we play the Madagascans.

Mr Riaga, of course we cannot be heading same direction with Sofapaka. Our circumstances are poles apart. They kept 90% of their team and made some very good additions including Ade.Now you can see.But that’s spilt milk.

@joe ringa, there is no transitivity in football. gor losing to dynamo then sofa beating dynamo does not mean sofa is better than gor. Football isnt that straightforword.

If by Sofa beating Dynamos and us losing the Dynamos means much then how comes last year we won the league but lost to Nakuru Allstars who should then have taken the league going by the arguments. Football deffies all logic and in football 1 + 1 is not always = 2.

We need to motivate the team and boost their morale. Whoever has played footy or any other game knows that the worst morale breaker is when your fans don’t believe in you.
As said by @jathur gi ji we must stop acts of hooliganism and even if it means a good chunk of our fans be jailed for that let it be.

The hooligan ought to b identified physically, he lives where and what is his source of livelihood. This needs to b done so that we spoil his source of livelihood the same way he is doing to Gor.

By the way does someone have a full list of the players we signed on. From the lists going round i cannot see the Ghanian, Farouq and Glay’s name amongst others.
We also also risk being sued and fined for the players we had initially ‘signed’ but dropped. It’s actually a legal issue.

It means Sofapaka are currently in better shape and will likely do well in continental. Probably because their playing unit is more stable. They have many of the same players they had 3 years ago. It also means they made a good decision to sign “Ade”, something I regret Kogalo did not do. The truth is that Ade is better than all the Kogalo new signings. It also means the Sofapaka coach Timbe did his homework and prepared for the match.

Ooh Laa la..”KPL Vs FKF” ===”AAR Vs SAM”== Local football death bed

FKF flexing its muscle on AAR. FKF withdraws Gor from CAF CUP.

I personally think KPL league was being run professionally as opposed to all the FKF Nationwide league. If we had an option we better go KPL since we even have Supersport who can watch air our games all over Africa. The truth is that we cannot compete favourably in Africa so FKF withdrawing us from CAF is no bid geal. In this world you must sacrifice at times to move forward. Even in Europe the Reals, ManU, Bayern etc determine the path of soccer there. All we need is Ingwe, Tusker and Sofapaka to join us and FKF PL will remain a shell.
@Joe Riaga as you say ‘Ade’ is a very good player but the problem is discipline and consistency. Most coaches would rather an average but consistent and hard working player than an irrational genius. Most of the Gor players have not been exposed yet for us to know their worth so comparing with Ade might be too early.
Guys, looks like FKF is being dishonest after what i saw in the recommendations of the FIFA report. This is why the KPL teams are bold. The truth is on their side.

It is wrong for Gor Mahia EC to show support to either side KPL or FKF. These are grave mistakes which are going to haunt our team unless there is membership approval in either AGM or EGM as this is material information that require members to be consulted. EC is wrong to move the club in this direction and we are better off remaining neutral until there is amicable agreement between KPL and FKL.

Ambrose Rachier being the chairman should lead reconciliation between the two warring groups. We should not support eith side.

Because GM lost to Dynamos, lost to Bandari, we will go nowhere. That is the thinking of others. You will be surprised if we lose both of the next weekend matches yet thump the next team a week later!! Those doubters will be here to comment. People MUST know that our team is still gelling and you must expect a very slow start. I must repeat my words early last year when we were losing, that this is a marathon and not a sprint!!

Why do we win the league? To participate in the continental tournaments but not to play Sony and Muhoroni.

EC should retract this statement immediately and the club should remain neutral until a solution is reached between FKF and KPL.

This action reflects poor leadership and lack of visionary leaders in the club. We have many challenges facing the club and EC should think before making such decision.

I have just heard from Radio Jambo that Gor Mahia has withdrawn from CAF Champion league. Can we get official communication from the club.

    Weche Gor Tek!!!

What is really happening. Our EC was quoting millions (Wasn’t Khalid Aucho’s fee 1.8M) yet Futaa.com paints an entirely different picture. Maybe all GM’s “payments” are the transactions between EC and the players. Indeed its a murky area.

Midfielder Humphrey Mieno’s move from AFC Leopards to Tusker was the most expensive tansfer in the December-January transfer window.
Mieno a former Azam, Sofapaka and KCB midfielder cost the Ruaraka-based side Ksh. 500,00 according to KPL’s official website.

He is followed by Bandari FC midfielder,Anthony Kimani who joined the Dockers from 2014 Shield Cup winners, Sofapaka, he cost the Mombasa based side Ksh. 350,000, David King’atua who joined Bandari from Thika United comes third, the Dockers paid Ksh.300,000 for his services.

    200,000 for Olunga

Michael Olunga’s transfer from Liberty Academy to Gor Mahia cost the 2014 Kenyan Premier League champions Ksh.200,000 while James Situma who quit Leopards for Tusker cost the Brewers Ksh. 150,000.

Martin Werunga and Ali Abondo cost Gor Mahia Ksh. 100,000, the same figure was paid by Bandari for John Ndirangu and Sofapaka for Erastus Mwaniki both from Nakuru All Stars.

    4 million spent

According to KPL’s official website clubs spent Ksh. 3,975,000 in the December January transfer window.

    THE BEST NEWS EVER !!!!!!

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has confirmed that it will write to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) requesting the continent’s football governing body to withdraw Kenyan representatives from the Caf Champions League from taking part in this year’s competition.

The federation had earlier asked the reigning league champions to confirm in writing it’s participation in the due to start campaign in vain.

    No option

In a letter signed by FKF Secretary General Michael Esakwa and addressed to Gor Mahia Chairman Ambrose Rachier stated it had ‘no option’ but to right to CAF to withdraw Gor from the competition which will attract a possible sanction on the club.

-We regrettably note that our request to have confirmation of Gor Mahia’s participation in the CAF Champions League has not been done, which is a basic requirement by CAF,

    Sanctions

-The Federation has no option but to write to CAF and have Gor Mahia FC withdrawn from the Champions League and the sanctions arising therefore meted on your club, the letter read.

Gor have already confirmed that the club will participate in the KPL and not the to-be parallel league branded FKF-Premier League.

  • I support gor confirming that they will go with kpl that is a low to nyamweya and his bogus tv deal! Withdrawing the team from caf is premature and retrobutory so that will take Kenya lower in FIFA ranking nyamweya has no interest in running Kenyan football professionally
So lets support our team ,where could the EC get money whereas there are no gate collections and hooligans had scared potential sponsors at your ….. Said state funeral

By the way Oduor12 I’ve seen Gormahia spent a total of 565,000/- only so you could be right; AFC spent 60,000/-

    Most expensive players/acquisitions:
    Mieno 500,000
    Kimani 350,000
    David Kingatua 300,000

So where is Gor Mahia? I thought we were spending ‘millions’? Waa…

@Oganjo Trailer 12 – by the way Kenyan football could be headed to the worst

@ Dan Original 13 – KPL league is run professionally yes but we must know people. Maybe AR could have remained neutral or quiet. Some clubs are very quiet; it is Ambrose Rachier who is competing with ‘bwana’ Nyamweya. Hii ni shamba la wanyama bwana…Mkimwa (Nyamweya) yu sahihi. maybe we could have used Sports minister or Uhuru to fight him.

@ Jakoyo 18 – why are you happy that we may not participate in continental scene?

    Reply
  • Dan Original

Guys we must know that AR is the KPL Chairman so he has to lead from the front. To me not going for CAF is no big deal though I would have loved the team to compete there but without a sponsor it’s a tall order. If Sofapaka competes with their meagre resources then they will be in a much deeper financial hole than now.
Since most of the teams favour the KPL league we should see which league will be more popular. At times it’s good show which side you are on instead of sitting on the fence. Why should Gor as a leading team in the country not help to chart the way forward in our country. UG just had two leagues the other time but they could still beat the Kenyan teams.
All KPL teams have vowed to stick to their league and are supported by the govt and even the FIFA report. Moreover they still have SS which has now partnered with KBC so who will watch the other league?
As Gor we have nothing to fear after all we might be the team to influence future FKF elections
