Enock Agwanda leaving?

Hit man Enock Agwanda has apparently left the club. The burly striker, who joined from Sofapaka, has left the club after failing to agree on a deal.

“We had agreed on everything and all that was remaining was for the player to sign the contract, however, he stood up and just walked away saying he is going to read it. He left us seated and walked off, it was disrespectful to us. The NEC decided to release him, meaning he is no longer part of the Gor Mahia family,”  said Judith Nyangi to goal.com

It is not clear whether the technical bench including Ze Maria provided any input as to whether Agwanda should be signed.

Agwanda joined Kogalo in 2015. For the past two years he has mostly been deployed as a substitute.  Neverthless he scored six goals in 2016. The most notable one was the goal against arch rivals AFC that sealed a 2-0 win.

Agwanda has also contributed to goals via his long , well directed throw ins reminiscent of Tobias Ocholla.

He has had to play behind Kagere, Tuyisenge and Blackberry. And with Timothy Otieno returning, competition was bound to be more intense.

Bernard Ochieng deal falls through

Gor Mahia’s efforts to sign Bernard Ochieng have fallen through. The promising Vihiga United defender balked because he was concerned about becoming a bench warmer at Gor Mahia.

“We wanted to sign Ochieng’ (Bernard) but he was not free to join us. So we thought it would be wise if we stop the search for now until next time.” said Judith Nyangi to goal.com

Other news

Former Gor Mahia midfield enforcer Khalid Aucho has been released by South African side Baroka. Aucho left Gor Mahia for trials in Scotland in June of 2016 before proceeding to South Africa. Also released by Baroka is another Ugandan player, Geoffrey Massa.

South Africa has proven a tough nut to crack for many former Gor Mahia players like Kevin Omondi and Ali Abondo.

According to Kawowo sports, The South African league has been criticized by many foreigners especially Ugandans as one that favors the natives and gives outsiders little playing time

Aucho was included in the Uganda squad to the 2017 Africa Nations cup. Its his chance to showcase his skills and attract the attention of another high profile club.

The chase for Eric Johanna too seems to have hit a snag, he is stalling talks deliberately as he awaits trials invitation from a swedish club while GM would like him to commit even if through a pre-contract so he can be included in 2017 plans should things falls through on his Europe ambitions. Still i really wanted him as he would have provided Ze Maria with an equivalent character and role played by Neymar in Real Madrid’s 4-3-3 set up

On Agwanda, I think there is more than meets the eye. Walking out on the EC is unprofessional and disrespectful, but would that be enough reason to drop him. Jasego alluded to Ze Maria not trusting his technical ability and the argument that he could be afraid of competition does not hold much water because Agwanda has been in Gor with other strikers and never left. He had to compete with Keli, Murai, Kagere when he came back and even Timothy before he left on loan so why leave now. On Bernard, he has made a wise decision as the fate that befell Calabar Junior may have happened to him. Gor loved him, but he loved playing time more. But doesn’t that mean that we are only left with three natural center-halfs? Musa, Shakava and Joash although Mr High Waist Wellington can also cover but that is not what he was signed for. As for Aucho, tek mar adier. Johanna has shown reluctance to sign, we cannot hold a gun to his head even though we wanted his signature. Makes Ze Maria’s work easier sincewith Johanna, picking the midfield would have been trickier. As said by Dan Original in the previous thread, may be a blessing in disguise

@Jasego, you have hinted more than once on Ze shifting from a 4-2-3-1 formation to a 4-3-3. How do you anticipate us lining up knowing full well that we have always relied on two enforcers shielding the defence? If naming names may be counterproductive at this time, just briefly analyse the pros and cons of both in regard to Kogallo and the SPL without naming anyone . But I know you can always throw subtle hints so should make for interesting reading!!! Personally I will be happy with any formation even 1-9-1 provided we win….And on a lighter note Jatugo, for how much did Real Madrid sign Neymar?

Think Neymar cost 77 Million Pounds second only to 80 Million paid for Cristiano and Gareth Bales 90 Million record signing. When I say 4-3-3, I always mean with its variations of either 4-2-3-1…4-1-4-1…or 4-1-3-2 provided we maintain a diamond midfield formation then they are all under the parent 4-3-3 system. In sequence 4-2-3-1 has been perfected by Athletico Madrid while 4-1-4-1 is a preserve of Man City and 4-1-3-2 deployed mostly by Seville,Arsenal et al…With Johanna the diamond option would have been easier since he holds onto the ball dribbling into space thereby shifting the diamond to our advantage as we rotate and press opponents

This are very wise players refusing to sign for kogallo….innocent wafula is also non- commital. They have listened to my advice and Experience has shown over the years that kogallo signs and disposes at will with very little regard to players development. How many players we signed in 2015 transfer period are with the club ? Guess what ….Just 4 players only.

Anyway, for me I think the EC should close the transfer shop, no player in his right mind will join the club at this moment not even aucho and abondo who have been linked to bandari and tusker respectively. Perhaps we convert some of the defensive midfielders like wendo into center backs.

    Kaazi iaanze !

Are these players who are not signing exceptional? I don’t think so. On Wafula unfortunately he lost his woo factor some times back. He needs to rediscover his touch

What the hell is wrong with going to read a contract b4 signing or not signing it?MUST CONTRACTS BE SIGNED IN THE SAME SITTING THEY ARE PRESENTED WITHOUT READING/CONSULTING? Election has made some people demi-gods already! Am no sexist but when you elect a lady as organizing secretary to handle players of a male club you will end up with the Chelsea/Mourinho 2016 no.10 situation.Nyangi please be very tactful such comments can be counter productive. Sorry to say but to me Agwanda was just the better amongst the many 2016 benchwarmers and am seeing many as we target 30 in 2017.That aside Aucho is a different matter. This is a top notch player, who is fit and is exposed at the topmost level of continental soccer. If he wants to come back then GM should seriously consider it. Forget being sentimental we need players who can help GM make an impact not only locally but moreso regionally and continentally.Aucho has a lot to offer foreign quota notwithstanding.

What is lacking in Gor is communication , look who’s talking and explaining anything? None, so we fill in with our own speculation. Too bad. I am calling for weekly briefing from the office, that’s not too much

E mafans….mwakaza kamba kweli.Mara the coach is clueless mara the new signings are avarage mara ni AR mara ni the entire TB.No one can ever express himself unless given a platform to perform.Am praying that these avarage signings and the clueless could prove me wrong at the end of the season.Since not many of us are betting their money on them the stakes are lower. With the expectation at its lowest ebb I hope we shall not throw stones when we lose a match. This is very much a team of the future.Similar to what the late Sianga did. We were patient with it.We even lost 5-0 to Rayon sports of Rwanda but a few years later we won the League 3 times on the trot.Any team in the world has to be refreshed and rebuilt.Sometimes you will get it right. At other times the whole process crumble down like a house of cards .It is a game of chance remember. The people at the helm of this club aren’t angels . Neither is Rachier a God. Just like it happen to us at our places of work, they can make errors.Few of us would hold jobs today if we were to be punished and criticised for every single mistake committed.Imagine hearing through grapevine that your new employer has just intimated to your workmates that you are very avarage.I hope you will like it.Won’t you?

Thanks @Baba Travis for the feedback. Qe will need to be very patient this year and onwards. This is due to the fact that the current FKF will not hesitate to take action as they did last year. Without a sponsor and/or source of cash also is one of the criteria used to fail the CAF licensing rules. Kwa hivyo tuwe chonjo else we cry that the title has been awarded on the boardroom come November

@Baba Travis, don’t you think your approach breeds complaceny. This evidenced by the fact that GM has retrogressed. After 3years of dominating the local scene we should have made serious inroads into continental soccer (CECAFA is unpredictable) but alas twas not meant to be, instead reverse gear was engaged.Trial & error with a +plus 60M/year sponsorship. Who will throw stones the “hired goons/saboteurs” or the 982 registered club members? Even FIFA did not deducted Poland points when they fan threw flares into the field but if FKF wants to deduct GM points & our EC lets them in order to avoid CAF licensing/participation by deliberately not winning the league, then so be it. Judith Nyangi please be more tactful don’t let that position get to your head.Everyone has a right to ask to time to peruse/read a contract b4 signing.Aucho is top notch, fit, injury free, good enough to make the starting lineup of a national team in the most prestigious continental tournament.Very tempting but the buck stop with Ze Maria.

Aucho was never released. The club confirmed that. On things like points deduction/playing under closed doors etc the local federation decides that
