Eric Ouma offered contract in Georgia

Gor Mahia left back Eric Ouma “Marcelo” is likely  headed to Europe. According to a report on futaa.com, Marcelo has been offered a contract by Kolketi, a team in the Georgian top tier known as the Umagalesi League. That league is divided into two groupps of seven. Kokleti are currently in fourth place in their group. The club is based in the town of Poti and plays their home games in the Fazisi stadium, a 6000 capacity facility.
The letter from the President of Kolketi reads as follows:

I undersign Mr. Teimuraz Barkaia President of the Kolkheti 1913 POTI from UMAGLESI LIGA in Gergia invite Mr. Otieno Eric Ouma D.O.B 07.09.1996, PPno:A2227435 Nationality KENYA.

To join our team in Georgia the date 10.01.2017. To play in our team for the new season 2017.

Our team take care for the accommodation, local transport and all insurance during the staying in the stay in our country.

We wait you very soon in our team.

Should Marcelo join this club, he will likely be the first Kenyan to play in Georgia. There are no other Africans in the Kolketi squad.

  • I think Berry had tried his luck in Georgia before? As for Marcelo, Congratulations for you great service to this club, good luck and good riddance!!!!

Hehehe, riddance? Kahata was in Albania but he is back at Gor MAhia. Blackberry went I don’t know where and I am sure he has dropped any tweng he might have picked out there. Fare thee well Marcelo, but don’t burn bridges behind you.

I too wish to reiterate that the kind of exposure K’Ogalo gives can fetch better returns if players are tied to contracts of not less than two years.

Even Lwanda Magere didn’t make it in Albania. Scrutiny of that kanote (unless there is another contract) should worry the lad.Hope “Omusinga” hatawacha “kucatch mafeelings FN style” and give the lad a lifeline. From the 2 posts i feel he’s not that keen on Georgia but rather wants Belgium deal which is a trial.Surely lest not castigate the lad too much. We’ve tolerated the passengers, Thiagos, Gk No.3/4s, Gatussos,Teargas even Aucho to akina Baroka. What is happening with Marcelo is not strange but rather emphasizes the need for structures.

Oduor12, it is not about structure here but the poor kind of agents the players have picked. Looked at the English grammar first. This should raise some second thoughts. Why can’t he wait for Belgium trials? What is the hurry for his young lad? This young boy from Kano need to guided accordingly and if possible change the agent. Why can’t our local players piçk European based agents that can market them to better clubs and leagues?

That’s the exposure our beloved K’galo gives to players,EC must use it as leverage.Marcelo lands a direct contract while MVP Muguna has to go for trials while he’s signed as a GM player. If Muguna is succesful in his trials does it mean he’ll never play for GM but club pockets the transfer fee!As for Marcelo it seems the European clubs/his agents want to maximize their fees while GM gets zero. Bottom line these players need GM for exposure so EC should be firm on contracts from the very begining.K’galo Is Not A Stage For Catwalking For 6 Months. Are the new GKs from the relegated Ushuru?

Mercelo is a greedy boy that never wanted Gor Mahia to financially benefit from his sale to foreign club. Gor Mahia made him to be what he is now. You can’t wish away the club that made you be known. There was no way that Gor Mahia was going to deny him professional opportunity. Very ungrateful boy but all the same we wish him all the best.

The boy could have gone to Belgium which is more competitive than going to Georgia where his talent is going to be wasted. Can you mention any from Georgia that playing in any big leagues in Europe? This will be a wasted talent.

Kwani you think only EU members are considered part of Europe?
Yes Georgia is politically in Europe. In terms of sports they are considered part of Europe. They are a full member of UEFA.
Plus they are currently in the Europe qualifiers for the 2018 world cup. Their last match was against Wales. Check your facts mister

The English grammar from the note below shows that something is not right with the move to Georgia. This club does not have even a lawyer to draft the correspondence. Eric Marcelo if I were you, I would have waited for the offer and trials from Belgium. Young lad, you are being conned. Think twice before you move. This is my frank and honest advice to you.

I undersign Mr. Teimuraz Barkaia President of the Kolkheti 1913 POTI from UMAGLESI LIGA in Gergia invite Mr. Otieno Eric Ouma D.O.B 07.09.1996, PPno:A2227435 Nationality KENYA.

Thoo, that’s why i refer to it as a kanote/ka e-mail,the President of Kolketi does not even know the meaning of to “undersign”. “Omusinga” be patient with the lad but also Marcelo allow yourself to be guided.Look at Rama consigned to the 3rd div in Slovakia, Baba Kizito went to Vietnam and lost(i think) his place in the Cranes team.I rest my case on this issue.

@jatingare, read about EU quotas in football and transfer system. Georgia is only affiliated to UEFA but just like Israel and many other affiliated countries the benefits for footballers is NOT the same as EU member countries . that is why the quickest route for African players to Europe is and shall always be Scandinavia based EU member countries.

There are no black people in the club, can he cope ? This boy needs our advice and he needs it fast.

My honest and personal advice to Eric Marcelo Ouma is to consider Belgium trials but not to go to Georgia. With racism in Eastern Europe, the lad will waste his best talent and communication is going to be very difficult. The lad should listen to views expressed and these views should enable him to make the right choice.

The best route to Europe can be either through Belgium, Sweden, Nordic or scandavian countries

  • Please bloggers, don’t criticize the boy because he knows nothing when it comes to deals. It is this efusi guy who calls himself agent(quark) who is misleading this young man. He has taken advantage and manipulated the boy’s ignorance just because he is former green commando alumni. Now his talent is at stake and if he is not careful he will live to regret for not heeding the wise counsels from the wise men

Eeh. Wise men like Jamigori, Musymo and I, etc. He is yet to hit 21 and one wonders what the hurry is for. Of course there is the allure of big money. I wish he could bid his time at K’OGALO till he matures all round at 22. At that age nothing will stop him from attracting Real Madrid.

  • Safety concerns also whenever moving abroad must be looked at.Georgia witnessed intense military escalation in 2014 when Russian special forces moved in to annex Crimea region leading to US intervening while World War III tensions bells rang.Is this an ideal place to take Marcelo who has never travelled far before?Add language barrier and harsh climate plus being the only African in a 14 team league following a 7 a side format and I say No…Marcelo stay at GM until the belgium deal materializes please.Waheri wuod kano idhi chandorii nono

Poor boy. Why does he allow this Muyoti man to lead him by his nose? Where is his family to advise him? Africa is full of talent from West, Central and South. In the East we can talk of Uganda. Why are all these talents avoiding that country. Muyoti the blood of Marcelo shall be in your hands should anything happen to him. I am almost certain that come 2018, this boy will be very frustrated.

  • The problem is with the EC. Where on earth do you sign a promising young player for 6 months. He should have been signed for at least 3 years. Again he does not have a good agent. He is a boy who still needs to go to college. He should have done what Olunga did, go t o a place where you can pursue further education.

We still need him to play for GM but if he feels he can’t be in For for now then he should go to any other local clubs for now but going to Georgia at this time is to a big NOOO young man pliz listen to the wise counsel of the elder and stay calm for now be patient you’ll get a very good club. You should be worried of a European club offering you a contract before trials
