Gor Mahia speaks on Shakava saga

courtesy of futaa.com

Gor Mahia vice chairman Faiz Ochieng has responded to the earlier complaint by Kakamega Homeboyz chairman Mr. Cleophas Shimanyula over what he termed illegal approach of Haron Shakava by saying the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions will follow the right channel to sign him once he gets the technical team’s approval.

The matter is threatening to strain the two clubs’ relations after Shimanyula claimed the earlier signing of Paul Odhiambo was as well not subjected to the due process but speaking on the Shakava issue, Faiz says the Kakamega side should not be bent on denying the player a chance to stay in the top flight following the club’s relegation.

Happened before

-We know the rules and we will follow due process when the technical team tells us this is the player they want so people should stop complaining. It has happened to us too before that a player wants to leave but the club still needs him and to Homeboyz this is a case that we should agree to disagree.

-It is not like we are fighting with Homeboyz for the boy because first, if there is a move it will be for the player’s interest and secondly Homeboyz are not in the league so we are not in competition with them. The player is too talented to be playing in the second tier and we are trying to offer him a chance, which I believe Homeboyz should be happy at, he told futaa.com.

Why Gor Mahia

-We have seen players move to other clubs in this transfer period; why is it that when Gor Mahia makes a move everyone is complaining? He wondered.

Shimanyula was particularly angered by the fact that Shakava was fielded as Gor Mahia played Western Stima in a friendly match in Kisumu on Saturday 28 December.

Repeat occurrence

Speaking to futaa.com, an infuriated Shimanyula said Rachier, a renowned lawyer should know better and added that it is not the first time Gor Mahia is doing that to Homeboyz, pointing to the earlier transfer of Paul Odhiambo to the KPL champs.

-Gor Mahia has once again gone against the rules in their approach of Shakava. This player is under contract with us up to 2018 but even without approaching us, Gor Mahia went on to use him in their friendly match on Saturday.

Stern action

-This is not we expect from someone like Rachier, a senior lawyer as well as the KPL chairman. They did this with Paul Odhiambo and we forgave them but this time round we want the KPL and FKF to take stern action because rules regarding player transfers are very clear.

On the player, Shimanyula said he faces punishment at club level once the team resumes training.

Punishment

-What he did was a breach of contract; it was contrary to what he signed to abide by and, yes, he will be punished. We are very clear on that in the player contracts and as for him once we resume he will be reprimanded, he said.

In the said friendly match, Gor Mahia won by a goal courtesy of former Homeboyz player Paul Odhiambo.

Listen to Faiz: Gor Mahia “will follow the right channel to sign him once he gets the technical team’s approval”. I hope Faiz is not saying that this player was fielded in that friendly match without the Tech. Bench’s input. If that is the case then it confirms our fears that these Executive Community members are back to their old habits and have hijacked the duties of the Tech. Bench. No wonder a Sec. Gen. could splash $15000 to Situmbeko. Unfortunately Logarusic is not anywhere near to administer some corporal punishment like before.

This gravitation towards Shakava appears to be another roadside declaration. Shakava is a player who has been playing in the premier league and his potential must have been known. There was therefore no reason to try him out in a friendly match while awaiting Tech Bench’s approval. It is obvious he was not in BW’s wish list and someone is trying to push him down the throat of the Tech Bench.

To the members of EC, my appeal is wacheni mipango za kando. These deals that you cutting always turn out to be very costly for the club. You always try going for something spectacular but unfortunately it backfires and ends up quite ordinary and very embarrassing to the club and us fans. You make Gor mahia appear to be run through deals being cut here and there and it is only those that hit snags that reach the public domain. Wacheni mipango za kando. You guys have a golden opportunity of demonstrating the organizational acumen of the community from which Gor Mahia and you members of the EC draw your origins. Unfortunately you are squandering that chance and sacrificing the community good will at the alter your larger than normal intestines.

Am tight lipped about the transfer market in Gor Mahia. I had alot of expectations concerning signing of experienced players, but am let down. When is the CAF dead line? I don’t mean our current players are not experienced but we need to add fresh blood to the team. Look what Sofapaka and Ingwe have done. Seems the concerned people lack some seriousness. By the way @ Ogango Trailer elaborate on your words ‘come election day we shall make sure some members of the current EC will not make it to the venue’. Please Ogango this is a very delicate statement and you should withdraw it. Secondly, use the term ‘I’ and not ‘WE’.

Bwawa should be arrested over financial misappropriation and corruption. Who sanctioned for the money to be released in such a stupid and unprofessional way? Let all the culprits on this scandal take full responsibility.

When will our officials learn to be more sober when handling the club matters?

Who is responsible for recruitment exercise in Gor Mahia?

Chairman Ambrose Rachier you too have let Gor Mahia fraternity down on this matter. We all have been crying for structures to be put in Gor Mahia to implement and execute these matters but it seems you too us not interested. What is the big problem of having structures? All our calls have fallen into deaf ears.

Though we do not have a good alternative to replace Ambrose Rachier as the chairman, he must implement the necessary changes in order to turn the club into a serious professional outfit. Otherwise if we leave the team to pretenders, I can assure all our fans that this great club will be relegated one day.

Gor Mahia needs proper structures to be put in place as soon as possible. The team should be professionalized in order to compete with the top elite clubs in the African continent.

Do we really need election without setting an elaborate agenda and come up with a master plan of Gor Mahia that we need? No matter whoever that will be elected come the election date; without laying down a strategic plan for a better Gor Mahia, this our clamor team will go nowhere.

Without coming with a master plan for Gor Mahia that we need in future, the following will continue:-
    1. Stealing at the gate will continue,
    2. Having inept officials like Bwana, Kilo, Faiz, Nyandega, Oj, Ominde, Roselinder, Okuku etc will continue,
    3. Unprofessional conduct by officials which is currently being witness in the recruitment exercise will continue to thrive,
    4. Poor and unaccountable leadership will thrive to greater heights,
    5. Unethical behavior in the club will blossom
    6. All manners of lack of transparency and accountable on the disposal of club merchandise will continue to thrive with fake merchandise being sold with no action or remedial plan being put in place because the club officials are involved in the scandal.
    7. Poor leadership will thrive further.

Eventually Gor Mahia will head to relegation at some point in future.

    G.Bwana vs J. Situmbeko.

In the article below Bwana claims Situmbeko signed the contract on 7 December 2013.
The previous article in which Situmbeko urges GM to negotiate with Power Dynamos and Bwana accepts to do so was on 6 December 2013.
You be the judge? Who’s telling the truth?

    By ELIAS CHIPEPO –
KENYAN Premier League champions, Gor Mahia have threatened to report Power Dynamos midfielder Julius Situmbeko to FIFA.
This is because the player has failed to report at his new club Gor as agreed in the contract with the Kenyan side now threatening to report the matter to FIFA accusing the player of double signing.
Gor secretary general George Bwana told Supersport.com that officials from Power were trying to hijack the deal and threatened to report the matter to FIFA accusing the player of double signing.
“It is sad that after we agreed terms with Julius Situmbeko who signed a contract dated December 7 and we even paid him the sign on fee as agreed, the player has failed to arrive. We followed the laid down FIFA rules as the player was categorical his contract was ending in December 2013.”
“It is sad that people do not respect football rules and I have been getting phone calls from Power officials claiming Situmbeko denied signing any deal and yet everything is on paper,” Bwana said.
Supersport.com have in its possession the contract signed by Situmbeko and witnessed by Nkana captain Sydney Kalume with both parties in agreement.
Situmbeko acknowledges he had signed a deal with Gor but added, “I signed the deal but Power Dynamos have refused to let me go. I agree I was paid my signing on fee but I have requested to return it because the issue is going out of hand,” Situmbeko was quoted by Supersport.com.
But Power secretary Ricky Mafunda rubbished the threat saying any deal that Gor were alleging to have signed with Situmbeko should be considered illegal because the proper process was not followed.
Mafunda said in an interview yesterday that no transaction was done between Power and Gor over the sale of Situmbeko adding that as far as the club was concerned, the player went to Kenya on national duty.
“Situmbeko was on national duty and how can a club claim to have signed him when they did not even approach us. Whatever transaction they claim happened should be considered illegal because if they were truly genuine then they would have contacted us or better still gone through FAZ,” he said.
Mafunda said the club has spoken to Situmbeko who told them that the Kenyan club was after him and nothing was signed.
And committee member, Edward Ngosa called on the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to advise players when on national duties against rushing into signing contracts.
Ngosa said it was sad that some officials have been misleading players into signing contracts at their own interest.
“They can go wherever they want because we have nothing to do with their claims. We shall protect our player and they (Gor) can go and report where they want,” he said.

*** The other saga by EC lest we forget is that GATE COLLECTIONS IN 2013 were kshs.10million compared to Kshs.40 in 2012.

I am disappointed by the way the EC and perhaps the TB have handled the recruitment exercise this time. It appears like we never had any plan and are just chancing. Are we really serious we intend to defend the title next year?

To my brother Papa and anyone else who would wish to castigate Ogango Trailer, kindly note that the bone of contention here is very very weighty. I’d urge you to set your eyes on the bigger picture. Let us stop chasing the squirrel (The Trailer pien dhiang’ I don’t mean to imply that you are a squirrel). We should all join together and condemn this glaring ineptitude and grand rip off. Let us keep our eyes on the antelope. Indeed two wrongs don’t make a right, however, what is the comparison between Ogango Trailer’s threat made out of absolute frustration and the emotional, socio-cultural and financial damage that this band of highly learned but very corrupt wheeler dealers are causing?

The truth is that Tusker, Sofapaka and Ingwe have handled their recruitment in a more organised way than Gor but I believe the issue with us has been that we need the best for the champions league. While the rest want to win the KPL title we want to progress far in CAF since even with our shambolic recruit last year we still won the title. There has been no problem targetting the Situmbekos, Walusimbis and Sahats of this world. The issue is ‘aim for the stars and if you fail you will land on the moon’. Despite our many ‘soccer analysts and advicers’ barraging the TB and EC on recruitment I still believe the two mean well for the team only that due to time constraints they are making one ‘blunder’ after another. As fans let’s encourage them but criticize constructively since some of our negative comments will discourage the best from being enthusiastic to join us.
Maybe it’s time we made Gor a company or changed our constitution so that the ‘shareholders’ can raise issues in a more organised way. We will also have a CEO to run the club on behalf of the Chair who will take the heat.
Despite all the pesimism i am still optimistic that we shall put up a fight in the CAF tourney thogh the truth is that like all other teams in CECAFA we don’t have what it takes to proceed far. Our budgets are our main undoing and as is it is now we cannot do much about that. When we won in 1987 the players were all fully employed in gov’t entities and the gov’t was paying for the airfares so the TB and EC only had to sharpen the team for success, which is not the case now

Migosi George Ochoro your earlier advice to Ogango Trailer in post 4 and even that in post 13 is made with a lot of wisdom and tact. There is no doubt about that and I support you. My point in post 11 is that we should not spend so much energy on The Trailer’s comment and end up losing sight of this runaway theft that is repeated year in and year out by those who are supposed to steer Gor Mahia to economic prosperity. With good management Gor Mahia could do a lot for orphans, widows and the destitute from as far as Tausa, Nyache, Mbololo, Vanga to Mur Malanga and Macalda.

As the year comes to a close let me wish all bloggers, admin and the entire good nation of GM (special mention to fans, players & TB) a blessed and prosperous 2014.
@ Baba Travis I was humbled by your sentiments but on that issue I strongly echo @ Mwakio’s blog above.
We MUST MOVE AWAY FROM PERSONALITIES IN GM AND EMBRACE STRUCTURES WHETHER AR LIKES IT OR NOT.
I THEREFORE SIGN OFF 2013 WITH THIS PROPOSAL WHICH I WILL NEVER TIE OF REPEATING UNTIL ITS IMPLEMENTED OR THE INEVITABLE HAPPENS. NOTE ITS NOT ACTUAL MY IDEA BUT WHAT I’VE GATHER FROM ALL ESTEEMED BLOGGERS.
THE OTHER DREAM IS TO SEE A BLOGGERS BRANCH THAT ESPOUSES & IMPLEMENTS THESE IDEAS AND FINALLY THE LIKES OF MWAKIO AS GM DIRECTORS. Au revoir till we meet in 2014.

    1) Surely the officials must appoint an ELECTIONS BOARD; the office MUST NOT CONDUCT THE ELECTIONS.
    2) At least let’s have transparent “ballot basins” boxes this time.
    3) It would be good if an SGM is held b4 the elections so that matters such as financial statements, performance of the office in general and of every official in particular can be reviewed. The election timetable/process can be agreed upon.
LASTLY ON ELECTION DAY LET THE SOLE AGENDA BE ELECTION OF OFFICIALS AND TALLYING OF THE VOTES. THE ELECTIONS MUST (AND I REPEAT MUST) COMMENCE BY 9.00AM SO AS TO BE COMPLETED IN GOOD TIME.

    GMMM(GOR MAHIA’S MEMBERS MANIFESTO)=GMM(GOR MAHIA MPYA)
    FANS MUST SET THE AGENDA.
Say no 2 hooliganism, bloated EC, Chaotic 100bob election driven membership.
    MEMBERS’ OBLIGATIONS
    1. Monthly contribution of only 50/month-600/year, payable in advance, maintained in a permanent electronic register, which WILL FORM the basis 4 shares in a future coop/company. With 2k members GM will b guaranteed kshs.1.2M/year but with 20k members this bcoms 12M. Easy coz Bwana claims FB branch has more than 5K active members.
    2. Fix tickets 4 homes games 2b terraces 150 & VIP 450.
GM has 2 target an average of 15K fans per home game not current 3/4k paying fans. Charging 300 so that EC can facilitate corrupt entry @ 100/50bob is not acceptable.
With goals, entertaining soccer the GM carpet style & security attendance of 15k/home game can be attained. AFC & latter stage CAF games cn b @ 200/500 for terrace/VIP. GM can raise above ksh.40M from these measures.

    3. Recall of non-performing members, but stringent threshold as 2 the time & conditions of recall must be set.
Initial individual membership 4 GM should NEVER B DISCRIMINATORY COZ REMEMBER TERRACE GATE COLLECTIONS R THE BIGGEST REVENUE SOURCE 4 GM.

    4. Appointment of external auditor. This MUST NEVER b left 2 the EC. Pass a resolution that audited GM financials must b published in a national newspaper.
THESE PRACTICAL STEPS WILL GENERATE KSH. 12+40=52M add Tuzo sponsorship of 29M AND YOU’VE A GAURANTEED KSH.81M enough 4 top players, medical insurance & even start on the stadium. I’ve not mentioned donations & merchandising which EC has mismanaged.
But 2 achieve this FANS MUST agitate 2 restructure EC into a lean board with specific measurable roles against which elected officials’ policies can b gauged i.e
    1. Director Chairman-Sponsorship & Security. These r the immediate priorities for any serious candidate who must put forward concrete policies on sponsorship & security. Note Tuzo deal is only 4 one year. GAURANTEED SECURITY MEANS BETTER ATTENDANCE HENCE HIGHER GATE COLLECTIONS, which together with solid membership means club has a basis to seeking financing for even the stadium, after meeting the basics.
    2. Technical & TEAM Welfare Director-Benchmarks cn b policies on medical insurance, coaches accommodation & transport, stability of team etc
3.Membership,Attendance,Public Relations & Transparency Director- 4 a start recruit @ least 2k members/year @600 payable in advance. Aim 4 attendances of at least 15K/home game to ensure that these 2 crucial sources of revenue r maximized. Again though donations r most appreciated the 2 mentioned sources of revenue + merchandizing r the bedrock of any big club.
In GM membership & merchandizing r poorly managed.

4.Marketing, Merchandizing Director-Ensure only genuine GM products r in the market, fakes r eradicated. Merchandize shld b ideally b retailed only by members individuals & cooperate. Another way of encouraging uptake of membership.
5.FIN & ADMIN DIRECTOR-Must publish audited accounts strictly 3 months after year end etc.
LET’S DO AWAY WITH VAGUE UNMEASURABLE POSITIONS OF CHAIRMAN, 3 V.Cs & 5 Secretaries.

The elected directors should then competitively hire a lean secretariat, on performance contract, 2 implement board’s policies & daily operations. Key officers shld b CEO, Fin & Admin & Technical Mgr cum Head coach (2 avoid conflicts). Due 2 limited resources Individuals should be able to multitask 2 avoid bloated secretariat.
Elected directors must pledge adequate time/ability to generate proper policies. No. of board meetings per year & compulsory attendance must approved by members.
MEMBERS ITS U 2 SET THE AGENDA & BASIC MANIFESTOS BUT AVOID LAVISH MANIFESTOS & UNKNOWNS.
REMEMBER SUCCESSFUL ELECTIONS HENCE EC IS A PROCESS FAILED (CHAOTIC) ELECTIONS HENCE BLOATED EC IS AN EVENT.
As i urge qualified legends i.e Obwaka,Lule,Sianga & Makamu & also able bloggers to vie.
Let’s the process we cn use our smses, internet etc.
as am sure EC has adopted the election date as the classic ambush/ secret weapon.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL, GOD BLESS MIGHTY GOR MAHIA

Then after you repeat your support for AR. Just kindly give him the exemplary management script my brothers coz to me whether he re sits the chair it makes no change. Gor needs shareholders and be a fully registered limited company that is run profitably. We cannot continue lamenting on acquisition of good players without looking at how we will pay them.

Assume we have 1 , 000, 000 organised fans. We all invest kes 1, 000 in Gor Mahia through a shares register and well documented Electronically Managed systems. Have professional Managers. Do you know how much that is . One billion Shillings. We would buy the best players in Kenya. The whole National team players would want to sign for Gor. For a start assume we pay the players kes 150, 000 a month. That is kes 3, 300, 000 a month and kes 39, 600, 000a year.

The rest we invest in Tangible investments approved yearly at the AGM. That is how professional clubs run. No this nonsense of gate collections . We have plastic cards for members which are swiped at Entry. Other entrants to our games get day cards which are are collected at entry points on swiping. Paperless. More controls and we all become rich Gor Fans with the best players.

Rachier has done well. The others have let us down. Now its not late. Lets take Gor Forward.

@Simeon, welcome to the critics branch. It’s good you have noticed how much we criticize but when asked for solutions we are blank. We even have the audacity to say that we don’t have a coach but when asked to propose names none is forthcoming. We even panic when we hear that Simba and Yanga has identified our ‘not so good’ coach. We even criticize our players as not being good yet complain when other teams poach them or when they are released. That is Gor fans for you. As far as I know all the members of Gor are trying their best to make it better. The method might be the problem e.g. how we go about recruiting the Sitimbekos, Shikavas and Walusimbis.
Now that Pablo is gone can we raid Hboyz for Kulecho and Chemelil for Omino or Asike from Sofapaka? I believe the EC and TB are on top of things since they are in a better position to know the team than me and the rest of the bloggers
