FKF now suspends KPL and its officials

FKF chairman Nick Mwendwa has announced that the Kenya Premier League has been suspended until further notice. In addition, foru KPL officials have been suspended for bringing the game into disrepute.

“KPL and FKF have been at war for over 14 years. We have been doing this over and over again and we can’t keep extending these wars,” infuriated Mwendwa said according to Capital Sports.

Those who will face disciplinary hearings are KPL Chief Executive Officer Jack Oguda, Chairman James Musyoki, his vice Ambrose Rachier and Mathare United chairman Bob Munro for going against the federation’s directives despite being part of the JEC.

“FKF disciplinary committee will follow due process and summon individuals to be heard and they will pass a ruling after for us to implement. The three have brought the game into disrepute. We take serious exceptions as a federation in what KPL said in their statement as well as Rachier’s letter going against clear directives,” Mwendwa railed.

Mwendwa is infuriated because KPL announced league fixtures that excluded Zoo Kericho, Nakumatt, Vihiga United and KCB whom Mwendwa had announced were promoted.

“These same people have been at the JEC when we sat and agreed things and now they are going against the very same things we reached resolutions on. Those are blatant lies they are spreading and we can’t as a federation accept because we have facts. There are consequences when you don’t follow regulation,” Mwendwa said.

Instead the schedule included Sofapaka and Muhoroni Youth who were demoted for not meeting CAF licensing guidelines.

“We did our regulations and sent to CAF who approved that if you don’t have a club license by end of year 2016, you shall be relegated. I have the details of the AGM meeting. Item number 14 we voted on the proposal to adopt club licensing regulation. We got 70 votes against zero. If a club is not licensed, it will not be in the top tier league,” Mwendwa affirmed.

KPL clubs have been against league expansion to 18 teams. Rachier has noted that this means less money for each team. According to Capital Sports,  Mwendwa also said the financial implication was agreed on at Sh36mn and FKF is expected to deposit Sh24mn to KPL by April.

However, Mwendwa was at pains to substantiate allegations that both Nakumatt FC and Zoo Kericho had offered to add Sh10mn each to the agreed Sh36mn kitty to cater for an 18-team league, creating a clear conflict of interest as they will benefit from the league expansion.

“What is wrong with that?” Mwendwa posed when asked about the allegation.

Hehehe…..more time to gel ! play friendlies against minnows and sharpen our offensive claws with the likes of meru combined, Nairobi stima, bondo united, garissa all stars etc.

This is why we need leaders who can talk and think at the same time….how will 18 team league fit in a year in which we have international friendlies, we have political elections, stadium renovations in expectation for CHAN 2018 which we are hosting, regional club competitions for tusker and ulinzi to play and worst still the mandatory one month transfer period for player rests and recouping ? Remember we are in mid February……

Have gone to slumber, wake me up when this madness and headache is over !

So the deal was drop these two we shall give you 10M each….and when he is asked he roars back,” what is wrong with that?”

@BB that was a very good point.I will also galdly and happily accept taunts of “but I you if GM wins under Ze Maria” but i won’t hold my breath. As of now I welcome the confusion at KPL as it gives us breathing space. Demote Ze Maria to youth team and rope in Sam Timbe/FN. Time is of the essence,no time for interviews just head hunt a coach to start immediately. Sadly Omusinga is too involved in the FKF/KPL tussle and as we know he is alpha & omega in GM. Very sad state on affairs, consequences of choosing personalties over structures. HOWEVER YOU CANNOT BUY PROMOTION SURELY NICK THAT IS TOTALLY ABSURD.

With AR at the head of teams of teams at loggerhead with FKF there is bound to be very tight compe as we compete with the teams to be promoted from the lower tier. We will need to be of the toughest character to pick the wins though this will apply to all teams

Rachier here are the consequences of your constant perennial and small endless ego- wars with the federation. The whole reneging on JEC agreement was your idea then the other two were just roped in by your bulldozing…The loser of in the meantime is Kenyan football and players…So boring all this is

Adris do you honestly want teams that failed to meet basic CAF Licensing requirements on several occasions to continue playing in the KPL while the resolutions passed by FKF that non conforming teams be relegated was adopted and ratified by CAF itself?Should we just support anything Rachier says because he is Gor Chairman? No he is wrong on this and we will point that out.Regardless of shenanigans now being witnessed on funding, the two teams were procedurally dropped and we should be talking on transparency in sourcing funding for Vihiga and KCB not quarreling over 18 team league composition that was agreed in the JEC by both parties and agreement deposited with the relevant arbitration body

What is the big issue here, someone please educate me? What’s in 16 or 18 teams? And what is this smelly thing about some teams being ready to pay up to 10 million shillings, pay to who and for what, about what? And Mr soprano is saying there is nothing wrong with that? And now the Kenyan football and our youth to suffer again while the mongrels, walanyama fight.

However one thing I want to differ with some people, even if they will come for my neck, please drop that derogatory reference to someone as “Mugabe”. That is very very offensive. Lets just be civil and respect one another, more so our leaders even if we do not like them.

Yes adris self funding is wrong as it will result in conflict of interest and should be looked at but to revert to the long squabble of 16 vs 18 teams is not good,it was settled let us move forward with 18 teams and clear sources of funding be presented by FKF that doesn’t involve the promoted clubs sponsoring themselves

A big NO to promotion and demotion of teams in the board rooms. Unless we are too young to reason!
This is returning foot ball to the dark days.

I thought Nick Mwendwa would lead but he is turning out to be a noisy individual.

On AR being referred to as Mugabe i disagree because he was elected, (regardless of whoever voted), its time we respected GM leaders, if anything many GM fans prefer peace , reason and moving forward.

  • For those who believe that referring to Rachier as Mugabe is derogatory, you are entitled to your opinions. In a society, we have both the stupid and elite groups. So if referring to AR as Mugabe based on his similarities with Bob in running the great club makes me stupid, so be it. On this I accept not only to be called stupid, but also a terrorist and a goon. But Mugabe must know that not all fans will say yes to his lack off accountability and high handedness. Even the highest leaders of this land have been described using unprintable words on social media! So referring to Rachier as Mugabe is a non issue. “my opinion my right”

But what is wrong with comparing GM’s Rachier with the Original One.Zim’s Rachier has 18 degrees,is the “democratically” elected president of a sovereign country,is very(most) rich hence worthly of comparison with AR who should now strive to still be GM chairman well into his 90s like Rachier.Btw personally i have no problem bora GM wins league,GoTv,CECAFA & CAF. In fact i for once support him on the 16 team league. That money is better used improving youth skills/structures and infrastructure instead of pumping it at the top level where player quality is difficult to improve due to lack of basics. If the players of the teams being forcefully promoted were good enough they would have been absorbed into the top 10 clubs and would be in the national teams senior,u23 and u20. GMFC should be aiming to compete with Azam,Zamalek, Mamelodi etc not struggling against nakumatts and vihiga utds.

From what i read, Ottamax and Ogweno were sacked because Ze Maria threatened to resign if they were not. I think they should have been sacked for poor performance or insubordination. What will the EC do the next time he threatens to resign? Sack themselves? Anyway we elected them so we are bound by their decisions. But could someone please educate me how sacking the two will improve our performance on the pitch? But then again, every thing has a good to it: Ze Maria can no longer blame the two for the draws and the losses. I am anxiously waiting for his new scapegoat!!!

Let me guess possibly Gattuso (methinks ZM & most players have issues that should be addressed now and RIOT ACT read to both parties),then it will be the quality of players recruited by EC and finally EC.That said, the problem was created by Omusinga secretly extended his contract. However am a strong believer that a head coach should have total control and freedom to choose his players and TB BUT HE HAS TO DELIVER TROPHIES AND NO RACISM. In the new circumstances let’s give him the benefit of doubt again. Remember @BB’s wise counsel, it’s GMFCs success that matters. Lakini increase FASTING & PRAYERS.

Amen. If anything who gives a s**t about what he thinks of them. I, for example has been a sympathizer of Rachier’s and voted for him because in my OPINION no credible alternative has shown up but I will never spew all that gibberish in defending him. Just as i am rabidly anti-Ze Maria and expect his ‘wives’ to respect that opinion, is as I will respect Rachier’s detractors to hold theirs. Rachier or Ze Maria is never gonna bat for anyone when your house is on fire. And to my fellow bloggers, I don’t mean to lecturer any one coz i don’t have that authority but it would be a good idea if we remained civilised even as we air our contrary views. This whole issue of name calling and abuses is uncouth and belongs to the stone age. So now if you criticize GM leadership you are brainless, and if you support Zemaria then you are his wife?
