FKF Shield: Gor Mahia start against Langata Gremio

For the second succesive year, Gor Mahia will start their FKF cup campaign against relative minnows. Last year it was Eldoret based GFC 105. This year Gor Mahia once again start against an unknown quantity in Langata Gremio.

Last year GFC 105 pulled off perhaps the biggest shock of the season when they eliminated Gor Mahia on penalties at Moi stadium Kisumu. Simon Mburu had given Gor Mahia the lead before GFC 105 equalized in injury time and went on ti win 4-2 on penalties.

It must be said however that during this period, morale was low at Gor Mahia, many players had recently departed and for this particular game , Gor Mahia fielded a second string side because some players were on international duty.

Its a different story this year as Gor Mahia have been in no mood to compromise or under-rate anyone. Still it should be a good opportunity for players who haven’t featured in the starting line-up or who haven’t played at all like Jerim Onyango, Eric Ochieng, Blackberry, Timothy Otieno and others who have a point to prove.

In other matches, Sofapaka FC will launch their defence against Kenya Premier League (KPL) strugglers, Nakuru All Stars. AFC Leopards and UIinzi Stars will face Ligi Ndogo and Shabana FC. The winners will play in the 2016 CAF Confederations cup.

Meanwhile coach Frank Nuttall has taken a well deserved break and returned home to Scotland on holiday.

“He left immediately after our game in Kisumu on Saturday, he went home for holiday and we expect him back 25 June to prepare the team for the second leg” said Ronald Ngala to futaa. com

  • Frank Nuttal, you frankly deserve the leave. See you soon………you make us proud. more proud than we naturally are. And others hate us more because of you. But we care less and less. Don’t be duped into taking Harambee stars Job, believe you are coaching a national team but the name.

Ooh Laa la..!! “KUDOS TO GOR JUNIOR TEAM PERFORMANCE”

The JUNIOR beats the SENIOR team in all statistics and that is the naked truth. I bet they can beat this Langata Gremio FC.

How i wish the GOR MAHIA junior team was incorporated to participate in this SHIELD cup and hopeful pooled to play against GOR MAHIA senior , AFC , TUSKER or SOFAPAKA; For those who have not watched this lads MUNGE SHANGAA SANA.

This boys made NAKUMATT an FKF team sweat before securing a 2-2 draw. It is not easy even for high riding Gor senior to beat this lads. I think the management feared the unexpected if the junior were to face the senior with unbeaten record at stake.

Ooh Laa la..” F.O.C stars must be signed with sticked conditions”.

Gor Mahia junior team currently top Nairobi County Zone D with a total of 33 points after 11 matches and an infinity goal difference. That is 100% success rate compared to senior who finished first leg at 86.7% success rate.

And now that they have 500K sponsorship annually the executive management should look for a long term project that will automatically loan out this juniors into KPL teams for premier league exposure before again re-acquiring them to do duty for the senior team.

This far much beneficial to both parties [Players/ club], instead of this recycling of players who come to Gor Mahia as a stop gap to show case their talent before they eventually quit Free Of Charge [F.O.C]. The so called F.O.C stars in Gor Mahia of which we hear. the likes of WERE,SSERE,AGWANDA…… For What i ask myself. Where will they get the playing time…. And can they warm the bench ……and for how long before we hear of the playing unit politics.

If any F.O.C stars want to join Gor Mahia then the minimum duration of stay should be tied two years contract. Come end of the year both OLUNGA and KAGERE will be free agent ready to negotiate with potential suitors with Gor as club that provided that platform to show case their soccer skills given a blackout. Soccer is business and our EC should up their game. Fiston has just earned SOFAPAKA 24 M and that is why presida is smart in soccer business.

  • Thanx EC for agreeing to take gor match to kisumu ,in past ve advocated the following issues which ve worked out. a. When other were saying gor hire a local coach I supported foreign coach. b. I suggested musa Mohammed be a gor captain n not Jerry. c
I suggested gor to relocate matches to kisumu. See now huge amount they got from gate collection .tusker vs gor match d. I suggested gor not to stage its matches at city stadium coz fans enter freely ,compare this with kisumu. e. On wenye gor not performing as opposed to foreign players, I think this players who belief gor is theirs are thick headed they don’t want to learn new football tactics they think they know it all in football matters, look at timothy otieno n blackberry even if Jesus be their teacher they can’t learn. the way forward EC should ignore players who think gor Is theirs. i request EC to sign two local indigenous coast/mombasa players to reward huge coast fan base, one somali player, one sudanese player, one kalenjin player and one meru player. Gor mahia Is a National/International team. What kind of football Will agwanda bring to gor apart from netball. GOr EC wacha ukanila

    • If the Luo players you mentioned don’t want to improve their performance, don’t put Agwanda on their list, he has been working very hard at Sopapaka and its up him Agwanda to do better, he can not denied his wish because Luos on the Team are not performing. To prove my point Olouch and Gattuso just move from Tusker to GM are they not performing and they are Luos. I prefere Agwanda than Were.My plea to the Chaiman if Were can’t sign one year and above then there’s no need for signing him GM also need Money like other Club when their player’s move to another Clubs.FULLSTOP!!!

  • @ Ogango trailer You may have a point …while the senior team is setting unprecedented record after record, the junior team is matching them in equal if not better measures.

My question is simple, the junior team has been intact for 2 years now, why cant we promote some of them to the senior team and expose them to the GOTV shield cup, resting some of the senior players ? over to you EC !!!!
