Gattuso says he is reformed and ready to shine

Okoth Gattuso: Renown for his tenacity

Collins Okoth ‘Gattuso’ who is returning to Gor Mahia after a four year hiatus has indicated that he has learned his lessons,  put the past behind him and is reformed and ready to perform.

“I have never had disciplinary issues but want to admit that my temper has not been the best.  While away, I received a lot of counseling on how to deal with it and I am now ready to settle down and play football.” said Okoth to goal.com.

Okoth also says he is fit and ready to go. “It is great to be back in KPL. I was away in Norway for one month where I underwent intensive training. It has helped me stay fit and I am warning our opponents to watch out,” ‘Gattuso’  said to goal.com

He has signed a one year contract at Gor Mahia. A fit and focused Okoth is a perfect fit in defensive midfield. He earned the nickname “Gattuso” because of his tenacity and fighting spirit similar to Italian defensive midfielder Gennaro Gatuso. When in form back in 2010, he was good enough to earn several call ups to the national team. It remains to be seen whether he has sufficiently dealt with his demons.

Gattuso has to prove it. Promises mean nothing.

Jakoyo wacha hiyo upuzi yako I doubt that you are a Gor supporter.Welcome home Gatusso. On the trip to Brazil I think it’s absolutely unnecessary and is a time waster.Look that very weekend our under seventeen were withdrawn from a tournament for lack of money and we keep yapping about developing the youth? TZ is setting camp in Botswana for second round of AFCON qualifiers and here we are, soon players will be crying for their allowances and being kicked out of hotels.FKF, Nyamweya need to check on their priorities well, I doubt that they informed the President about the under seventeen fiasco.

  • @ jathur gi ji, in as much as we are all die hard fans, you are a blind fanatic…..you simply do not want to see the other side of the coin, no matter how glaring it is!

Players are judged by their current performances not historical performances.

Gor Mahia is broke and that would explain why they are recruiting players out of contract, no singing fee required, there are plenty of players out of contract at the moment, am keen admirer of Kenneth Wendo, can kogallo consider? The boy is free agent…hmmnn!!, the infamous knee jerk reactions……..i guess and pray really hard that it won’t come back to haunt us this time round !

  • Jakoyo, for once I agree with you. We dont have money because this office is doing nothing about it. Money does not come to you…you look for it. We dont have an office save for Rachier whom to me should be accorded the highest order for life. Surely this has been the worst office ever. You elected your friends so eat your pie.
Mieno has now joined leopards, we’v brought in Gattuso!!

Gattusso is a brilliantly talented midfielder.he is my neighbour in the estate.we have spoken with him about his discipline and general conduct on and off the pitch, and we hope that we will see a reformed person going forward.Lets give him a second chance.who knows?he could be the new solution to our ,disoriented and porous midfield without any creativity upfront since Teddy went.

  • I don’t think Gatusso will come through at Gor. This mistake of indiscipline will always leave indelible mark in ones life. Let the other players learn from this grace to grass story.

he would have no place in a gor with money

  • Jakoyo, the other side of the coin does not mean scathing attacks against players. Even if BB has not scored doesnt mean he is a bad player. Rooney is a good player but has never scored in any world cup.

  • After all the world cups, he scored a maiden one the other day.
