In their bid to raise as much as they can to ensure comfortable participation in the CAF Confederations cup, Gor Mahia have been organising events to ensure they realize the Kshs 60 million target and the latest move is to open a mobile account.

According to the club’s Secretary General Mr. George Bwana, the move is in line to ensure even the far-flung fans of the team are given a chance to make their input in the team’s development.

Final stages

Speaking to futaa.com, Mr. Bwana assured that the club is in the final stages of getting the Mpesa account through which the fans can contribute to the team’s financial well being and gave it up to the end of this week.

-The process of acquiring the Mpesa account is a bit tedious but according to our programme, we intend to finalise everything in the course of this week, though that also depends on how fast things will be handled by the service providers.

-We are currently working on the registration and as it is the entire documentation is not a very simple process, he said.

Fundraiser

The club is also scheduled to hold a fundraiser at the Nairobi City Stadium on Friday 3 February and Mr. Bwana has already confirmed that the Nairobi Mayor Mr. George Aladwa will be the chief guest.

  • Oti Oluoch, when the Admin tried to be original we ended up having the same story for over three weeks. This meant that we blogged until we ran out of points. We therefore asked for GM news form whichever site so that we could be informed and also comment on the same. But that does not absolve the Admin from getting original. Admin, give us more stories including the CSR done by the Divas. Once the Sec Gen comes out with the official site we will then have the official mouthpiece info, though the unofficial ones have more juicy news.

Great move. Best thing about it is the audit trail (available from Safaricom)hence we will know when money is embezzled. We needed some sort of accountability and this was long overdue. Now, to take it a little further, can gate collections go through this account? Ticket Masters can then get a list from the Sec General or whoever will be managing this account then issue tickets based on the list? They can then print tickets based on the list and fans will merely queue to pick tickets without exchanging noney. This can be centralized in some office/stadium a couple of days before the match. Ticket Masters are then paid a percentage of the collections. Sounds remote but this will in a big way eliminate gate collections fraud, which i believe is still rampant. You will be surprised how much we usually actually collect. Late comers can get their tickets at the entrance but this will not happen once everyone get’s the a/c (nobody wants to queue). Just an idea bloggers, you can refine it.
