Giovanni Rodriguez Bissolli returns to haunt Gor Mahia

Giovanni Rodriguez Bissolli, the Brazilian who was recruited by Gor Mahia to much fanfare in January 0f 2013, has now reported Gor Mahia to FIFA citing wrongful dismissal.  This is according to a report posted by Capital FM.

His complaint is that  he was dismissed from the club despite having a running contract, signed by both parties; club and player.

At the time Bissolli would have been the highest paid player in the KPL with a monthly salary of 1,500 USD (Sh150,000 in the current exchange rate) and a monthly house allowance of 250 USD (Sh25,000 in the current exchange rate). He also had an agreement of a Sh5,000 win allowance as well as transport to and from training as well as medical cover.

Gor Mahia Secretary General Ronald Ngala has confirmed that the club has been served with the papers and says they will look at them and take appropriate action.

“I was called by the federation and told there is such a letter. I believe they have been taken to the chairman’s office and we will look at them then make a decision on what to be done,” Ngala told Capital Sport.

Ngala has admitted to Capital Sport that the club indeed had a valid contract with Bissolli.

“We had some agreement with him, that is true, but he was dismissed in quite a haphazard manner because the coach insisted he cannot use him. As at now, we can’t say much. Let’s just study the letter and the demands and make a decision,” Ngala added.

In FIFA’s letter to Gor, the players’ status committee has asked the club to explain with documented evidence why they released the player without both parties having an agreement.

Rodriguez’s arrival had been highly touted by the club. The deal was fronted by a local agent.

Fake Video

At the time Rachier explained why the club was interested in Bissolli.

“We have his detailed records of video and resume from the Brazilian federation. The player has been keen to join us for the past two years and when he came here for trials, at his own expense, we thought we should give him a chance,” said Rachier at the time.

However the purported video of the player that was posted online and is still available on youtube is clearly fake. The close up videos are indeed Bisolli but the player running with the ball is not him. The player shown running in the video below has greater speed, fluidity of movement and even appears to have much darker hair.

This is false adverting !

When Bisssolli however shocked everyone  when he arrived in poor shape and overweight. Zdravko Logarusic who was the coach at the time chided the player for his lack of fitness. Rodriguez would then be see jogging on his own to gain fitness.

Agent protests

Bernard Opondo, the agent who brought Rodriguez to Nairobi through a Brazillian contact, insisted at the time the player has a two-year contract, which must be honoured by Gor.

He also defended his client against claims that he is unfit to play for Gor.

“Rodriguez is a professional player. He had a season long lay-off and was only practicing in the gymnasium which saw him add weight. With proper practice he is going to go back to his normal weight,” said Opondo.

He claimed the player trained under respected Brazillian coach Gebran Araujo, who also handled famous Brazillian midfielder Ronaldinho Gaucho.
Opondo claimed Logarusic was being used by a section of officials in the club to discredit his player.
“I have seen his training with Gor and he is a fantastic dribbler and therefore I am convinced that the latest outburst by Logarusic can only be incitement from some officials in the club,” added agent.

Bissolli arrived out of shape prompting a local journalist to dub him “Waiganjuez” in reference to Waiganjo the fake policeman

Bisolli sent packing

Logarusic later toned down his rhetoric and said they have no space for the Brazillian team saying the player also has some personal issues to sort out back home.

“After watching the player in the last one week, it is our opinion as the technical bench that he will not fit in our system. He needs time to work on his fitness before we make any decision,” coach added.

Rodriguez’s online profiles suggest he has not played any professional football since he was dismissed by Gor Mahia.

However the manner in which Gor Mahia handles contracts of foreign players leaves a lot to be desired. Players are often signed before passing a medical or even passing trials. In some cases players are given significant amounts of money before they can even sign (remember Julius Situmbeko?).

I refuse to be distracted by this matter because I am focusing all my attention on preparations for our next match against Bandari.

    • We need to leave these foreigners and develop our own. Masiga Kadenge, Mulamba, Dawo, motego, onyera were all home grown.

    • Who is “we”? Let the official who rushed the contract be surcharged though i think we can put in a good defense about the fakeness. I was at that AGM and this is Jakom’s “baby”. He really tried to convince the meeting to accept Rodriguez but was told to forget it, then there is the Nutall saga. Jakom has taken us out of Misri but will not take us to Canaan. Tumestagnate. Ze Maria is too soft too succeed at Ko’galo. How can you say players are not following your instruction especially playing long balls (his iko kwa DNA ya akina Jagoal, Musa) when you want tiki taka. Do a “Loga” on them, even the Ingwe Coach did this the other day.

Yes watu wamadraw isokei! That is 175k per month na medical so he would have been the only Gor player enjoying this perk. All this while Solomon Nasio was being ignored for an injury suffered while serving GMFC. YES WATU WAMADRAW HOW MUCH DO THE GUYS AT SONY, CITY STARS EARN? TALK TO US WATU WA “AT LEAST WE DREW WHAT IF WE LOST!” Don’t ignore this story the team’s performance inexplicibly nosedived with the arrival of Thiago and apparently he has a signed contract!

  • My attention is fixed upon the Bandari game. We need a win, not some folk tale that is 3-years dead. A win at Mbaraki will most likely sail us to the KPL table summit, albeit until the season ends. Do not tell us about Giovanni Rodrichieth, all that we need is a win at Mbaraki.

  • As much as Rachier can be an astute Lawyer but his management skills pathetic. The likes of Ngala and Co am wondering their value addition to the club apart from draining Gor coffers dry. This agent called Opondo l’m very sure he’s a broker whose main aim is to collude with some officials and then ran away with some money that will be surcharged to club as fine by Fifa. If a player can earn around 175 kshs then surely are we wrong to demand for results? Omera we don’t want lacklustre performance from the team coz we know their remuneration is far better than other teams and to those fans who feel comfortable with a draw poleni sana.

  • Tusker has opened a 5 point gap ahead of Kogallo. Ingwe has shown in its last 2 games how to break through a tough defence. Ulinzi and Tusker are sincere title contenders. Mathare and Ingwe are title pretenders despite their spirited displays. Kogallo is a title defender whose coach has gambled with the title prospects. The rest are there to add numbers to the 16 team league. Ze Maria and his gambled squad should understand that anything less than a win at Kisumu tomorrow will be tantamount to treason, mutiny and rebellion against natural norms.

Violence and chaos are the way to self-destruction. In Gor Mahia, we know the true cost of making emotional judgments. Jalweny I am a worried man, because I believe your sentiments and suggested solution to our win drought resonates with other Gor Mahia fans who will be in the stadium today. Jalweny, I plead with you and thousands of Gor Mahia fans not to lift a finger against Ze Maria. If you do that you will be playing in to the hands of the designers of this crisis. I believe this is a crisis man-made so as to kick out Ze Maria.

I appreciate Ze Maria for his attractive brand of football that was last seen in Gor Mahia in the days of Len Julians. He has done his best; it is the players who for some strange reason, are not delivering. The people to dialogue with are the players. They need to be told to stick to the coach’s instructions and game plan.

Let us desist from any thoughts of violence particularly when we don’t know the root cause of our current problem. The root cause of this poor run could be anything from player anxiety, loss of self belief to Passenger 27 tying the feet of our key strikers out of sibling rivalry. All this possibilities can only be sorted out through some talk with the players, but NOT attacking an innocent man.

As much as w all want to win let’s not exert undue pressure on the players. Recently I read about Katerega telling the ingwe fans not to mess them u afte the Posta fiasco. Lets all remember that ingwe and Gor were docked three points. Those three points are the ones partially making us not be ahead of Tusker. For today’s game I hope and pray for a win but knowing that in soccer any result is possible
