Visiting Kawangware based Nairobi City Stars held host Gor Mahia to a 0-0 draw in a Kenyan Premier League encounter played at the City stadium on Saturday 18 May 2013.

After an eventful first half that saw either side get chances that they failed to utilise, the game turned over to the second half full of promise.

A run

Gor Mahia Coach Zdravko Logarusic pulled out Ali Abondo and brought in Rama Salim at the onset of the second half to add punch upfront.

Ten minutes into the restart central defender David Owino attempted something different; a long range shot from mid pitch but It just weaved off target.

In the 74th minute it looked all for City Stars when Silas Aluvisia, who had come in for George Mwangi, went on a run for goal but his final shot let him down as it went wide.

Shot straight

The minute after substitute Moses Otieno, who had come in for Joseph Njuguna, received a pass from Danny Sserunkuma but he shot straight to Frederick Majani in the City Stars goal.

Two minutes on, former Gor midfielder Dennis Wise Okoth shocking failed to tap in a through ball from a hard working Jimmy Bageya to leave the scores at 0-0.

Land at third

No further efforts in the remainder of the minutes to full time resulted in a goal leaving the scores at 0-0.

From the latest result, Gor Mahia moves off fifth spot to land at third with 18 points from nine games. Narobi City Stars on the other hand moved a position higher, from ninth to eight with 15 points from 12 games.

  • Very big No for my team, our players must be very agressive in each game we take or else we wont make it at last just like the other season. let them not think of the games at hand if they cannot wisely win them.To my coach, you must have atrick on opponents who are playing deffensive game coz thats the loop hole they have.
Last: players should be comping not the way it is pliz.

  • Another bad day in office for the boys. All the same we tried our best but it was not good enough.
On another note the news that there were skirmishes at Muthurwa and our fans were hurt as well as the bush getting stones is not good. I know some of our fans are fond of disturbing the members of the public after the games and this must stop. We all know that some of the guys who do their business at Muthurwa will not blink an eyelid before shedding blood yet Gor fans just want to enjoy their game and go home.
Some of the issues could be political in nature in that the hawker has realised that they will remain hawkers despite the poll outcome and some other fans/hawkers have also not move on the Kenyan style. Displaying photos of electoral candidates or singing polical songs should not be encouraged in the stadium since some fans are apolitical. So as the SG and VC are condemning the attacks they should also condemn our own fans who are misbehaving.

what is really happening with the midfield? they are not controlling the ball to our advantage. this is the time to amass points to be safe in the final leg, or else we may leave to cry like last season.

I think that there’s a problem in the TB bcos we’re not playing well at the moment.Even though we in a better position as compared to other teams, the matches we’re winning we’re not winning convincingly.Last season we had the best striking parnership of Danny & Rama, they’re still with us . R they still a sleep or they r in some kind of protest? I am looking forward to winnig 5 matches in a row. Not struggling to win 1 & drawing the next.Drawing will not make us champs.Loga is not prooving his worth.

  • My friends this league is tough this year and we are not just going to win because we are gor. We will need to struggle for all our wins just like any other team

  • Our weak link is the midfield. Why is that our mudfielders like going back to our own half to pick the ball. This happens alot with Akumu, Mose and Njuguna. By so doing we are always short upfront. To win they are the only ones to help us and they can if they change their tact.
