Gor Mahia 1 Bandari 2

courtesy of futaa.com

Bandari FC beat visiting Gor Mahia 2-1 in a Kenya Premier League (KPL) match played on Sunday 30 March 2014 at the Mombasa Municipal Stadium starting 1500 hours local time.

Alloyce Mangi opened the score lines in the 40th minute before Dan Sserunkuma equalized five minutes later as Victor Majid sent home the winning goal.

Second half

From an action packed first half, Gor Mahia resumed with the intention of taking the lead but Dan Sserunkuma’s shot hit the crossbar in the 48th minute.

Another chance for Gor Mahia but Shaban Kenga’s attempt is saved by Wilson Oburu who hurried to recover in the 51st minute.

Bandari who were being raided made changes, pulling out Ali Bhai for Aspire Academy product Victor Ndinya, that happening in the 53rd minute.

Back to the lead

Gor made their first substitution as Bobby Williamson introduced experienced Patrick Oboya for Shaban Kenga, a minute after the hour mark.

Victor Majid unleashed a hard shot from 20 yards in the 66th minute but a wasteful Kepha Aswani failed to connect home a Jerim Onyango rebound.

The former Thika United man then came off for Justus Anene two minutes later before Gor Mahia brought on George Blackberry Odhiambo for Kevin Omondi.

Bandari were back on the lead in the 75th minute. Victor Majid released a slice shot that beat Jerim in the Gor Mahia goal to the far post.

  • Off course , what do you expect against the same squad and the same technical bench that played for 20 minutes with a 8 man tusker and did not even have a shot on goal ?

nevertheless, classic excuse……” the boys played well but I blame the weather, it was too hot, last minute change of venue , fatigue in sme players and the fact that bandari had also secretly increased their budget significantly in the last few days in anticipation of the match ”

    Good Luck kogallo in 2014!

SIO HUJUMA walakini Tujuvunie na Tuvumilie kushabikia K’Ogalo. Well done Bobby Williamson and his boys and let us thank God for the good result we posted today by dishing the three points to Bandari. We live to fight another day just the same way we did it in Nakuru against TOP FRY. Those are the kind of result that will reclaim the championship.

-The league is still at infantry stage and as usual we will pickup progressively DONGE!!
    – One step forward and three step backwards and we are still advancing as CHAMPIONS.!!
-It was a bad day in office as we could see how the bumpy Mombasa municipal stadium
pitch was in a deplorable status, despite the heat and humid conditions in the coastal

And true to my WORDS , I have just read in futaa.com that Bobby Williamson has professionally excused the team poor performance on bumpy pitch. Bobby una ni jaz sana.

Is very easy to predict this guy’s professional excuse and that means he is yet to know how teams have studied his style and tactics. Bobby wake up! GOR fans are very unpredictable.

gor mahia fans can be quite deluded
the problem with your team is simply motivation-after two near misses they finally won the league and being the typical kenyan footballer mentality the players feel they’ve made it…likely even williamson cant fix it just like egypt always flops international club/country it needs a huge fixing
in my preview of the season i stated gor mahia’s issue would be motivation
you are the same fans who actually thought gor was anywhere near esperance because they played underpar and still won 3-2
what should have been done was buy good players(like AFC) to make your players fight for their positions because that is the only way to motivate them to stay tops
as it is evident the badge alone cant- you dont even feel the intensity of mashemeji derby
also gor mahia’s 3 man mid(4-3-3) has no creator(the trio is usually destroyer-passer-creator) and kevin omondi i watched him vs taraji-is not tactically disciplined
you also have very good forwards but instead of having them run rings you depend too much on you know who
and of course the management and the fans who also went quite vs taraji matchday
    kenyan football is still low

I watched the game on SS and at no time were we overwhelmed. How comes the Ugandan trio is playing very good football? From the match today you can tell that our major problem is the quality upfront. All our midfieders are defensive. We need a Mieno/Kahata upront to offer the offensive option. For strikers what is in their CV if they cannot account for even a single goal for two years? When the partnership between Rama and Danny died we are now left clueless.
As some of us blame the coach does he have the right material for a team of gor’s calibre? A player like Olunga and Oduor of Sony are the right ones to assist Danny. One thing I have realized is that if you leave gor and come back you will never be the same. By the way is Jerry the gatekeeper he was last year? I have my doubts

  • @ Dan original, @ ogango trailer, I pleaded over and over on this site and even pleaded to gor Mahia officials to sign Michael olunga, look at where the boy is now, top scorer for thika and at gor Mahia , we are struggling to score more than a goal in a match! Sserenkuma syndrome continues, he scores we win, he doesn’t score , we loose., DONGE ?

we said as bloggers when the season started, gor Mahia need to recruit a central defender, look at where we are today, relying on rookie haron shakava to shield mighty gor Mahia from conceding goals! DONGE? , thooooooo………

So who do you blame, the technical bench off course. With all due respect to the current team, the 2 games ultimatum we gave them is over and it time th pack up and leave in peace, ideas have simply run out and it is beginning to show!

After watching the game, Gor Mahia played disjointed game with one am leader at all. We played poorly and if these are what KPL team are showcasing in this country, the standards are surely too low. I do not understand what pattern Gor Mahia is playing. The team has no pattern at all during the 90 minutes time of play. Are these boys really serious with their football careers? As Mwakio, they cannot copy me due to my office career as my job as a fan is very clear to frequent all stadiums to give them moral support.

Players football is your career and seize this golden opportunity to show your football case in order to ply your trade in professional outfits outside the country. If this is the kind of football our team is playing, it is my fear that the fans attendance in stadium is going to go down significantly. We want watch good football but not mediocre performance. Do not expect fans to come and watch such mediocre performance.

Bobby Williamson and Gor Mahia officials led by Ambrose Rachier must wake up now. I know Gor Mahia fans are not going to accept such kind of mediocre performance.

We have been hearing from some quarters that players are on a go slow. This is a very bad picture and players too have to style up and play for the team. If these players are being paid salary on monthly basis, why are they sabotaging the team because of allowance. The players instead should have a go slow during the training sessions but not when they gave been fielded to play for the team. Gor Mahia is in a bad spell as you cannot drop points like a team with no fan base.

Wakili Ambrose Rachier, your house is burning but you are busy celebrating the yesteryear performance. Initiate investigation immediately on the playing unit and any player found culpable should be suspended and possible should be expelled from the team. Players have to remain discipline no matter the circumstances around them. There are proper channels to be followed when things are not working. The team has team manager, team captain and deputy team captain where players grievances can be channelled but not being saboteurs in the pitch while playing.

Players you are disappointing us as your fans.

With Bobby Gor is going nowhere, he is a fella who is used to National team coaching not a day day management of a club. You can see he is clueless on his lineup and his tactical subs are wanting. Gor lacks tactical approach to any game, ANY GAME. Their mode of play is predictable. Gor is a flat and plain team that plays with no intelligence at all.

The stress has just began and I saw it coming. Gor struggle all the time for a goal or a draw and it’s a team that you can’t rate. All their matches begins as warm up and it’s hard to tell at times whether they are playing with an intention to win any game at all.

On the ultimatum can you tell us who are your partners in this.
With the same coach why is Kizito, Shakava and Kizito playing so well? Do the rest still have the passion to win? If I was the EC I would have some SERIOUS talk with the players with an aim to recruit an offensive midfielder and some strikers to assist Danny.

Though I know it is the coach’s job to field players according to their form and state of mind as well as fitness tests, I do not understand why other new players are not being fielded. Where are Kariuki, Obwoge, Onyango, Rama, etc? We signed many players but we are not seeing them. If they were not quality players, why did we sign them?

If it is not working for current crop of players, replace them with these unused players. Kariuki Onyango and Rama can play very well in the midfield while Obwoge can be great asset in the striking force.

Gor mahia players don’t take their fan base seriously like the way AFC players do to their fans. You’ve noticed that whenever AFC needs to win a game badly they put away their team problems and play for the fans once they enter the pitch. That’s why it’s hard to beat AFC in Mumias and if they want to beat you they will take you to Mumias Complex. Just a mere yell and Isikuti beat will make an AFC players go crazy and that’s why it will be a near miracle for a foreign team to beat AFC at home and more so if they take you to Mumias or Bukhungu. How many times have we been beaten by mediocre teams at Tok Kommwanda? Our current players simply don’t care about the fans plight. they are indifferent that’s why they are whelping like dogs about the bonuses. How come Ssere is giving all he can without the same bonus? There was a time Rachier insisted that things were okay in the camp when things were not until Coach Loga told the office to pay the players in press release that’s when things came to the open.

And please Rachier is there is something your team promised the players see to it that it’s paid. Don’t play “The Malaysian Plane” with the team. This team is our life, our culture and the only thing we can be proud of. This team is a movement.

  • I have a different opinion. From the goal look atthe number of time Jerry has been hit, its on his right side (against Esperence, Top fry and now Bandari). For sure this guy is slow off the blocks and should give way to other keepers. I think the guy has an injury on his right shoulder.
The midfield is another area where we are doing badly. I think Eric/Kizito pairing made too many errors and this also contributed to our dismall performance. My wife asked me a strange question today. Why did we sign players we cannot use. Me thinks the TC is afraid of experimenting. They need to start thinking dangerously and field some of this players.
Finally its really shamefull that in the present age such a pitch could be allowed to host a KPLC match. It was too bumpy and i wish the match had been played at Machakos.

@ voltage you are right the guy has not healed completely and we will soak very many goals if he cant accept and seat on the bench for Bataro to be within the sticks.I also don’t like how jerry is starting the play why kick long balls to the strikers while the midfielders are there…? The guy must learn to start the game from behind as we develop it through the midfield to the strikers. To jakoyo guy you should not expose to us your low level of thinking by calling logarusics name here, you should know that currently he is in Tanzania and he is going to achieve nothing there, infact simba is tired with him and wants to release him, secondly you should also know that logarusic can achieve nothing currently in kenyan soccer and that is why he pretended and moved away after realizing that the kenyan coaches had known his few tricks.Another guy is Daddy am just tired with the guy ,why hold the ball for along time and by the end of it it is taken by opponents and we don’t see results.

@Voltage so the pitch was bumpy to GOR and not BANDARI after the last whistle was blown. And why did the team train and not train and have a feel of the match venue yesterday. And how comes a GOR player scored a goal on the same pitch once while Bandari scored twice. Just hit the nail on the head.,! Gor players did not take their chances PERIOD!

Ssere did hit the woodwork and i hope this time round it was not bad luck but lack of accuracy and precision in the final FINISHING touch. And how about KENGA rebound and open goal that he could not convert. Winning football matches is about taking your chances and utilizing them appropriately. We were lucky to escape with a draw last week on wednesday when 8 tusker players against 10 Gor Mahia was-almost humiliating us in the last minute. Before that we had wasted numerous scoring opportunities by failing to convert them. When you fail to do so you will be punished and beaten. Bandari just punished us for being wasteful. PERIOD!!.. BW must fix the playing chemistry and FINISHING deficiency.

Please @Voltage tell your “WIFE” to stop Whining or sulking the way you always referred to some of us whenever we posted our reservations with regard to the teams performance. How I wish it was @Jamigori’s “SWEETHEART” I could advice him to dispatch her to “KAMITI” prison since she is a hooligan and thug to question TB’s decisions.

  • @Ogango trailer whinning is part of life but then again it depends with your level of maturity as an individual. I can decide to pick the positive from the same sentiments or become negative. Being the mature guy she had a point. Pierre was given an opportunitg yesterday and he played pretty well so has Shakava.Lets give these fringe players an opportunity to play even if its 15 minutes they might prove themselves.
About the pitch unless you were watching another game it is bad period. Fact remains the pitch plays a big role in improving the quality of play in a country and thats why Kinoru and Thika were banned. They should do the same to Mombasa.
The midfield did not click and made many miss pass. Probably the commentators should start analysing the number of completed pass a player makes against his total to gauge their performance on the pitch.
Finally just like the game against Top fry we failed to defend as a team. Against Tusker we defended well untill they equalised and their body language just changed (a defeatist attitude creeped in). We lack the chemistry and the fire to work as a team. This crop lacks fire and something needs to be done pronto.

@OT there‘s no need to throw insult @ each other instead we should stick to issues raised cause honestly there‘s has been luckluster performance from the team. Players must realise that fans sacrifice alot for them to attend matches and therefore they should reciprocate by giving good results. It‘s a challenge to Bobby to atleast give fringe players opportunity to play why buy them and not use them. Kariuki is a very good creative midfielder why not try him out what about Onyango n Obwoge . Stop fielding names, accord each player equal opportunity to present his skills.

  • I have been a supporter of BW but after yesterday, i feel we should give BO the team. I’m not seeing a difference worth the money he is earning in the team. I feel there is politics he is unable to deal with in the playing unit.

Another observation is that we are doing the same thing of kicking balls upfront the whole game and expecting different results. When Juma was in goal, there was unpredictability on our build up and tactics. With Jerry, anyone can guess what he will do when he has the ball. BW, are you so blind not to see this? Is he playing to instruction? Yesterday i counted more than 10 balls given to opponents freely with this style. Against Tusker’s 9 men, we played the same thing for the final few minutes and almost got punished.

On another note, i can’t believe that Rama, Kariuki and Dan Onyango are too poor to get space in our current midfield even if it’s for 30 minutes. The three were midfield kingpins of their previous teams and could change games before we bought them. Let us not do things the same and expect different results.

Finally, tomorrow being our last day with Tuzo, word on the street is that Bamburi has come on board as our new sponsor. If it’s not one of the many rumors, karibuni sana.

For the first time I will agree with @OT and @ODUOR12 on the usage of the fringe players. I would not mind us losing when we have Kariuki, Obwoge, Pierre and co. playing. We need them to play so that we can judge them. As said does the current crop have the fre in the belly to fight. I can say a big NO to a good number of them. Maybe Kopany will be our next BB. And how comes Obwoge was lethat at Chemelil and now not being used. We seem to be a team of 18 players and not the 27 in the roster. On Jagoal he has been our pillar in the past but looks like he is no longer the ‘wall’ behind the defence. And by the way he doesn’t have a good kick but insists on hoofing the ball forward to a short Danny being marked by the giant Okello. At least Juma used to start the ball from the right/left full backs. Jagoal even when these two are free he will hoof the ball upfront. Either he doesn’t trust the fullbacks or they themselves have no confidence in themselves. Bataro was good when HS trvelled to Senegal/Ivory Coast. Can’t we give him a chance?
All the same I feel not all is lost. Even the leading teams none of them won but that should not exempt us from exerting pressure on the EC and TB.
I pity those calling for BO to take charge, maybe they don’t know Gor when it comes to the EC and fans undermining a local coach. What did we do to Siang’a, Pamzo, Awono, Zeddy, Auka etc ? the list is endless

Jerry u must be lucky Juma got an injury coz honestly he would have become keeper No1 given his composure between the post . Your body language and positioning between the post is poor n that‘s why you concede easy goals. Bobby is very slow in reading the game n that‘s why in most cases he makes poor substitution with no or little effect on the pitch or could it be that he doesn‘t understand KPL teams??? Why do we see only the negatives? Not sure if it’s one of the many romours but Nation online has a story of Bamburi sponsoring us.
On the results we are all feeling it as Gor but having supported Gor for long I have witnessed worse only for us to rise and win, and we shall. The only thing that can stop us winning is financial handicaps as well fan agitation/pressure/trouble on the TB and players. So far I don’t see anything worth us pulling our hair about. Does someone remember when we were in relegation zone almost halfway through the league and ended up a close second? The players are there though some have to pull up and with the goodwill of us fans we will still make it. Liverpool was dead and buried where are they now.
With four points behind the leaders and only a quarter of the matches played only a team like Gor, Sofapaka, Tusker and Ingwe will manage the marathon. Now that the backlog of games are over and we have like 10 days rest before we take on KCB who are aso in a precarious position we have to win that match and when the leaders start playing against each other I will not be surprised to see us at the summit. Nobody loves long balls unless you are ManUnited with Beckam and Giggs on the wings or Van Nestroy in the box but I guess we try to utilise the speed of our wingers Wiper and Kenga and striker Danny but it’s not working. The UG cranes never used that Technic but used to beat us hands down. Maybe a change in tactic would do. The only coach in Kenya I saw introduce a whole new football concept is Luc Emayel while at Ingwe and I believe BW can still itroduce the cranes game to Gor. Or is it that the material he has is not sufficient? The UG imports are so far very good but we want the locals to emulate them also.

Every time Gor Mahia is trailing, they try to play long balls. Considering the height of our strikers it is difficult and impossible for them to get hold of the high balls and do something reasonable them. I do not know if this is instruction from the coach but it stinks. Balls should flow from back to midfield and may be to wings and then crosses. This can cost even the defence to score in their own goal. Williamson, please teach soccer. We want to watch nice football even if we loose.

I for long have been calling for fans on this blog to give BW time to turn around our fortunes but after yesterday’s display i too have run out of patience.I will play the devils advocate until things improve. on that note i wish to address three issues.1.the midfield.2.possession and style of play and 3.fielding.
on the midfield we have seen that the Kizito/Akumu combination was not working since they are both too defensive. One of us had been clamoring for Cantona and in the two games he has played the guy is not clicking at all.In fact his game has been below par right from preseason. This will explain my second point .We cannot possess the ball without a good midfield. If you have watched our matches this season we have been ‘out-possessed’ in almost all of them.Against Bandari Kizito and Ochieng could not string a single pass between them while Tevelu and Majid were having a field day for Bandari. This is the explanation for my last point. With a dead midfield our back five resort to punting the ball up-field to our forwards who are all short .How do you expect them to win the ball against the opponent’s tall defenders? That is a sure way of gifting possession to the adversary. On fielding, i once expressed my misgivings about Oluoch and almost had my head chopped off by a fellow blogger. But the lad and Nasio will just cause us more trouble.Even the coach talked about our’defensive frailties’.But will he bench them? i doubt that with his obstinacy. You will remember the guy refusing to use Danny for the Cranes only to come to Gor and say he wished he had. I think he has put Emuge in his blacklist too.Dan Onyango and Kariuki are very good and skillful ball players. Why not give them a run in the midfield and see their output? Pierre got his debut yesterday and impressed beyond expectations! Why is the coach not seeing this? When we complain sometimes other bloggers say we are not the coach. But we all know it doesn’t take only a doctor to see that somebody is ailing. We may not know exactly what is ailing our beloved Kogallo but we know he needs urgent treatment.BW is the doctor paid to give the remedy. We are waiting and time is of the essence.

and ooh how i wish i had Dan Original’s optimism.Life would b a shoo-in.Dan, kindly share the secret of being so positive in the face of all the gloom! As for Erico Jarae @45, please, if Arsenal are not making changes despite the trophy drought does that mean we do the same? What is the logic behind your reasoning?

I will only add to positive remarks. Any goalkeeper fielded, no long balls. Its never been our style. Start the game from flanks. All teams lose. Look at recent weeks in EPL. Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool. How nany times have those teams lost in the season. In Gor we are special. We never think how to make our team financially stable. Few people do yet Ma en club mar Oganda.
The team will pick up. I am never disappointed when you see people giving thier best.
Who is this who wants to lose.

@jb apart from abusing everybody and everything what did you intend to say?
@Simplicity my optimism stems from having seen gor perform even worse but in the end we are always at the top or with the top dogs. Having played competitive footy some times back when my age allowed I know that teams undergo bad patches but the comeback depends on how soberly issues are resolved. I also know the pressure that builds for a team like gor with some fans who think that the moment we don’t win then we are done. Playing after every three days for local players is also very energy-sapping considering our diet, the type of surfaces as well as the physical well-being of the players. But all these dosn’t mean that i wouldn’t want a reversal of our fortunes the earliest. Prezda spent even more money than we did and is struggling against teams we easily beat. But all that’s the strange thing about football. Do we expect to always win because we are gor, or have the most fans, the best sponsor , EC, TB etc? Crystal City beat a championship-favourite Chelsea over the weekend and all accepted. By the way for the lower teams the best team to play is Gor ’cause you have nothing to lose and frastruting them is quite rewarding as it motivates you. Once we become an ‘ordinary’ team and not former champs we will begin winning and the good thing is that we are not far off from the leaders

@ Comrade Erico Jarae, please control your emotions and reduce anxiety. Alternatively get in touch with a Psychologist consultant for an immediate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Counselling session. At this rate where you are blogging your own self very frequently with a lot of anger, confusion, depression, emotions and stress related phobia; I really do fear for your wellbeing. Just think about “GOR” only and forget the EPL. WE WILL DEFINITELY GET THE ANTIDOTE.

Smart guys like comrade@ODUOR12 saw it coming in good time and posted yester-night that :[I”ve bought myself some “kaluma ointment” just as a precaution against anticipated neck pains.]

GOR MAHIA fraternity as a whole is currently under crisis and “WE” are all suffering from a situation known as “Performance Related Anxiety” which can negatively affect our self-esteem and self-confidence if not handled professionally. “GOR OSIKO TO OK SIKIE” GUYS.!!

I agree with Wuod Ramogi Ajwang who said this earlier on

“Gor omany yawuot luo manyalo goyo adhula mondo obedi kaka cornerstone mar klab. Kik wasiki ka wategemea jomoko ma kia gima Gor ofulo ne joluo”.
That’s on the playing unit what about the EC and the TB?

  • Eric Yuko, I wont be too far off if I said you support one of either Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City. It would be a shame especially if you support the last three because I have seen on a number of occasions when they fielded a whole starting line up without an English born player. Now you are telling us GM should apply the opposite. Football has become too global. It is becoming boundryless. Kenya is trying to integrate with Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan so that these colonial territories are done away with while you are still trying to preserve your Luo Nyanza boundary that was created by same colonialists. Naona umeachwa nyuma sana. Think big my friend. You will soon see a Brazilian playing in KPL.

For any team to win,it must do post match analysis, this should be done openly with players shown where they have gone wrong,we have seen mistakes repeated by players.i think be does not do post match analysis.we all make mistakes but when repeated it can really irritate fans.take daddy for instance on tusker match he had an opportunity to score many goals to be specific 4 goals, one after display nice ball, hits the bar when goalkeeper was already displace.the last to his substitution plays outside when goalie was already down.players must learn to think simple balls you need no energy.

by now coach knows anyone, the boy is good Bt will hardly score, let him bring those nice simply passes to serekuma.

Avoid long high balls Jerry ,we are deficient of night n ground ball works well for the team,if can avoid them well n good.

Kenga is a good player n should move in the box,his urgency for goals has never paid any price.

Having learnt shakava he is a guy who can be like Peter dawo all his goals have been through his head, that a bright player he know he may not score easyly by leg n has resorted to the head.bravo shakava, let wanyonyi know where your head is n puts it there.l liked the Esperance one.

calabar is a very fast n firm player who can play any number, can we try him in midfield?or number 9,the guy may be good.we only learn by trying.

Other teams have learnt that we only have ssre,if he is blocked like in mombasa we r left with no options, sometimes its just honorable to bench him to confuse the opponent the bring him at one hour mark,he may be very dangerous.

    I rest my case.
