Rama Salim header in the 58th minute was all that Gor Mahia needed to end Chemelil’s unbeaten run in a Kenyan Premierq League (KPL) match played at the Mumias Sports Complex on Thursday 22 May.
The match started on a high note and Gor won a free kick outside the box after Chemelil’s James Omino fouled Dan Sserenkuma just outside the box in the 2nd minute. Rama Salim took it but it hit the wall and was eventually cleared off

At the quarter hour mark the game was settling down well with both teams trying to build down from behind. Eric Ochieng almost opened the scoring for the visitors in the 17th minute but Chemelil custodian Jairus Adira did well to deny him.

Innocent Wafula missed a glorious opportunity to give the home side the lead in the 25th minute, receiving a long ball from the right flank and racing into the Gor box but placed his too wide for the on running Jonathan Mwaniki to tap in.

Second Half
Rama Salim broke the deadlock in the 58th minute, heading in Walusimbi’s cross past Jairus Adira to hand Gor Mahia the crucial three points

Chemelil worked hard in search of the equalizer but Gor Mahia did well to defend their lead despite the rains, match ending 1-0 in favour of the reigning champions.

After the match, Gor Mahia is at the helm of the log with 29 points from 13 matches while Chemelil is fourth with 22 points having played the same number of matches.

  • Comgratulations to team K’ogalo for the hard fought win.
I watched the 1st half on SS9E and and afew minutes of 2nd half due to heavy downpour. I loved the way the team played apart from giving that Wafula guy a lot of space to run to.

Humility will keep us going. Just as the players have their heads in the air and feet on the ground we should emulate them. They never underate any team nor talk ill of any of the opponents.

Congrats boys. Meanwhile let’s keep the paybill number 350100 busy.

  • gud show by chemelil. they can play and have gud passing rate. i liked gor display, there was urgency in the passes and were more dangerous with the ball. that was a professional display and i did not see any ‘kucheza na chakula’. that was gud football… keep it up.
congrats to chemelil for not showing fear.

  • tamu sana, by the way chemelil came into the game with an attitude, now at least they have realized that we can beat them anywhere, even in their very own homes. so next time they would rather go for gate collection by taking the match to afraha where the turn up is always good and save mashemeji the pain of seeing kogalo winning

  • I knew it was going to be a tough match, but I predicted that kogalo was going to win 1 nil.I cant just understand the pattern they have brought in but nonetheless let him carry on so long as musa, calabar, walusimbi and shakava are in the defence!please, please defenders make sure you give your opponents especially when playing with ingwe, sofapaka and tusker both POLICE AND MABUS MARK!Otherwise kogalo juu zaidi.

  • @Mboya, we were all making noise at BW when we lost to Top Fry and Bandari. The system has now changed. We are now playing 3-5-1-1 and this system is giving opponents a lot of headache. Remember how Mourinho won the first EPL with Chelsea using wingbacks. Hii ndio system sasa. Walusimbi and Musa are now playing upfield with Calabar slightly in-front of them. This system is however very risky when you play Ingwe with very speedy wingers. They can hit you on the break

  • Sorry, Calabar is infront of Shakava and Emuge

Our heartfelt condolences to BW. Let’s win the Sunday game as an appreciation for his efforts. Without him the and JBO the TM or goalkeeper trainer will stand in for them. As much as the two will be missing the motivation should be high to win the game for the sake of the two gentlemen.
I have the belief that we will make it past Tusker though they are fond of playing a physical in order to physically harm our players
