Western Stima beat Gor Mahia 2-1 in a Tusker Premier League match played at the Mumias Sports Complex on Sunday 26 May.

Gor Mahia showed intent early in the match, Dan Ssrenkuma hitting the bar in the third minute with a left-foot volley after a neat pass from David Owino.

David Owino headed in a Moses Odhiambo cross a minute later but the goal was disallowed. The hardworking Harambee Stars defender’s effort paid off when he rose high to head in Moses Odhiambo’s free kick in the 14th minute.

Western Stima equalised two minutes later after Jerim Onyango punched Hedmond Mauda’s cross into his own net.

Wesley Kemboi made matters 2-1 pouncing on a loose ball after a Musa Mohammed and Ivan Anguyo hesitated in clearing a ball in the box.

Gor’s Kevin Ade Omondi almost equalised in the 44th minute but his shot went inches wide after an inviting pass from Musa Mohammed.

Second Half

Gor made an immediate change in the second half bringing in Anthony Akumu for Moses Njunguna.  Dan Sserenkuma found Rama Salim with a good pass but the latter hesitated while in a good position to shoot and the ball was picked by Western Stima custodian Ben Roberts.

Rama Salim tapped in to score in the 53rd minute after another good pass from Dan Sserenkuma but the goal was ruled out to be offside.

Anthony Akumu sustained an injury in the 64th minute and was replaced by Moses Otieno. The former Kakamega High School made an immediate impact as his hard shot from outside the box went just inches over the bar.

Gor Mahia’s best chance came in the 81st minute after Western Stima’s George Wesa handled the ball just outside the box. Kevin Omondi’s resultant free kick hit the side bar, match ending 2-1 in favour of the homeside.

For the loss we can’t blame the Team, can’t blame the Tech. Bench, can’t blame the EC, can’t blame the fans. Yote ni “amri ya Mungu”.

Scoring remains to be very dodgy. King David seems to have brought the needed expertise in the midfield. I still appeal to the coach to review the videos of Egypian national team campaign of AFCON 2006. That is where the solution to our scoring famine lies. Amr Zaki the Egyptian bionic man single-handedly delivered the AFCON trophy to Egypt after tearing defences at will with ambushes that were laid deep in the Egyptian half. Atletico Madrid applied the same approach and it gave them the UEFA cup in 2012. Let us try it and trust me the goals will start raining. We have very good players. Players who are as strong and fast like the Amr Zakis and the Falcaos. Think of King David, Dani, Rama, K14, Odhis Dube, Besigye, Ed Lavatsa, Musa and even Chris Wekesa. May we move with God speed for if things continue like this then Bandari, Karuturi, Thika, Tusker and Chemelil are sure to win big when we face them.

mimi kama shabik ninaumia moyoni. It is painfull to spend over 10k, take time and energy to travel then we are beaten. Hii ni hujuma. As much as i blame the ref and linesman, we should learn to play and play and play. Please coach, midfield, High balls from defense to strike force haitusaidii. Stima were comfortable and relaxed on the ball. If things continue like this, then i am worried. Maybe we need to visit Kanyamwa soon coz Kogalo anakufa mimi roho.

  • Midfield is our weakness period. We going no where if they change their attitude. They like spine and they have this attitude ” sitaki lawama”. What the team lacks is that kind of special player like Blackberry. Its really unfortunate Kiongera and Mutiso are out injured.

I blame the centre ref. and the linesmen for our lose today.

  • We cannot berate the team when around 3 goals were disallowed. The strikers are really trying their best but looks like things are not still working for them.
I still have this belief that we will carry the league thiss year. In the previous year’s leagues by this time we would be having running battles with the EC and TB yet as things stand we are technically up there with the rest.
Once Wiper and Kiongera are healed and we add in a few more players in the midfield then we will be there at the top

  • like i said before, gor has to go to the pitch knowing that it is playing 11 guys plus the ref. gor habit of scoring one goal then relaxing is it’s main undoing. i did not watch the match but i am happy that alot of effort was put by the strikers. having to goals denied tells alot. the thng to do is two make sure that these goals are not denied nxt time. ur doing somthng right but with a small mistakel, congrats. the VC should not condemn the ref wholesale, watch the video and correct ur mistakes. gor should discard the habit that we only loose coz of the ref. officials have for a long time encouraged this view and that is why the ref never feel safe on gor matches. becoz of this pressure both players and officials will attribute their failure to score on the ref. the problem shows when gor plays in continental matches. there is no team not complaining about bad referring in this world. gor should just lick it’s wounds and come out better the nxt time. the gor problem now is not so much about the coach or TB, but the fan on a green shirt beating ppl and stealing in the name of gor, whom the EC pretends do not exist. these are the guys who take them to office anyway… but one day the repercussions will be shake gor.

  • It’s always sad to see Gor go down and it has become a team that is unpredictable. You can’t be sure how they will play in the next match. it is really sad and heart-breaking. Gor lack serious mid field players. I must say Akumu hurts me most. Each time we lose, we reduce our chances of going to summit. Gor begins as is there is nothing serious and starts to put pressure at the last minute. It pains me so much folks.

Gor tuwache kujienjoy. How can we travel on saturday and expect to win on sunday.
To be honest i believe, the TB plus the Office are not focused. If we keep on dropping points against lower and mid table teams..then lets just say bye bye to the league or else we shall cry again.
Both the office and TB must act and act fast.Games at hand hazijawahi saidia Gor…coz we have never been serious about them.

Gor’s mainstay has always been the midfield, which is no longer the case. That is why you can’t compare this squad with the Gor Mahia of years gone by. Does anyone remember the likes of Abbas Magongo, Nyangi Odembo, Charles Otieno, Onyango Fundi? These guys used to marshall the midfield by reading the game and changing the tempo of the game where necessary. It was a joy to watch them I tell you. We also no longer play the “carpet ball” that Gor used to known for, which was comparable to the tiki-taka style of Barcelona.

In short, let’s get a midfield dynamo, play our usual passing game, always keep possession, and we’ll be scoring an average of three goals per game. The way things are going, this year’s title might be determined by goal difference!!

Can someone tell me when we expect to have Mungai Kiongera back in the team? He just might be our saviour because he plays like the legendary Abbas Magongo.

Ooo Laaa la..!!! ” FOCUS ON THE NEXT MATCH. PERIOD.!!!”

We played and lost; period and that is the bottom line. The rest of our imagination are as simple as wishful thinking. As much as i will also denounce poor officiating, it is high time that we also notice that it happens to both side of the divide “The Big boys and the Minors”.
Mosoti escaped a clean red card during Top 8 due to biased officiating when Gor played Tusker and so GOR should be prepared for the same dose especially when playing away matches.
When the Big Boys namely GM & AFC are affected the issue is taken a notch higher by thugs who impersonate as their passionate fans and this will kill local football.

    1. AFC vs CHEMELIL Top 8 Fan invades pitch and nothing happens. The issue at stake was biased decision from the referee and what happened next we all know.

    2. AFC Vs GOR: Thugs from both sides stopped the match for 10 minutes enjoying themselves in some stone throwing competition, while Police does nothing to stop the incident until the scenario turns ugly. After the match GOR “thugs” invade the city centre singing abusive and politically connected songs and the rest we all know what took place.

    3. GOR vs SoNy: police lobs unnecessary tear gas to fans and their is no crowd trouble to merit his action.Eventually GOR “thugs” invade Muthurwa market and destroy innocent hawkers properties. This behavior is uncalled for and must stop.

    4. GOR Vs CITY STAR matches ends peacefully but Muthurwa hawkers had planned for revenge and as such their is bad blood between this two groups and no body knows what is in stock.

    5. AFC Vs Mathare police lobs tear gas to AFC fans who were leaving the stadium very peaceful thus resulting into anger and reactions that lead to burning of innocent hawkers properties along jogoo rd /city stadium.

    6. Gor Vs W/ Stima: Referee ambushed in Kisumu and beaten seriously while 33 gor fans are way laid and car jacked along Eldoret / Nakuru junction and robbed of their valuables in the bush

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN GOR PLAY THIKA AWAY AND WITH THE KIND OF POLITICALLY BAD BLOOD BETWEEN OUR “GOONS” AND THEIR “HAWKERS”. FOOD FOR THOUGHT AND DO NOT LET FOOTBALL TO MESS UP WITH YOUR LIFE DUE SOME “QUACKS” IN THE GREEN JERSEY.

OGANGO TRALLER —- Am very much afraid chief and you are extremely right, for sure am very much afraid and I can see we are heading to the worst and sometimes I do avoid the beautiful geen army jersey. Goons are taking over and this is very real.

  • This season will only get worse from the goons. We have a ‘Waiganjo’ we are refusing to see and yet frustration is building up.

One needs to look at the faces of the thousands of the fans when we leave the stadium. Not everyone is capable of self control and that’s why we are likely to have more incidents like we are witnessing. Performance on the pitch will always be tied to these acts of hooliganism.

We are busy marketing the club to attract even thousands more but we are not doing enough to police or even educate the same people we attract. Get someone arrested and charged and this matter will be past tense.

  • Guys, Gor losing should not be much of a problem. Even ManU won the league but was beaten by some of the relegated teams. What we need is consistency knowing that we will lose some but we make sure we win most. We don’t have to wait ot beat Tusker, AFC, Sofapaka and other top clubs. The key is to collect the points from Muhoronis, SONY, City stars etc. Man U lost to Man City both legs but still won the league with games to spare.
On GOONS I would like to see the SG and VC offering leadership. For the sake of brand Gor they can meet the hawkers together with the fans who abore this behaviour so that we live amicably. After all some hawkers are ven Gor fans. We can let soneone like Jaro Soldier be the ambassador for the fans. The guy in his love for Gor will never do anything to damage the team’s name , however big the lose is. Otherwise the Gor merchandise will end end being something you only wear in your house and that’s not what ay sponsor would go for. By the way what do we stand to lose if we meet the hawkers and any other members of the public aggrieved by these Gor GOONS? It pains me when the VC and SG deny that Gor has no goons in terms of fans. I wish this duo one day sit at the Russia stands and see how much bang and all the ‘bad’ things that happen in the name of Gor

  • Let’s not bury our heads in the sand.Something is very wrong @ K’galo especially when

1.a gentleman like Sir Bob starts mentioning names of players “who just don’t want to play yet are fielded instead of being quietly sacked”.
2.An executive community of 14 members who do not provide any policy or direction for the club.
3.K’galo is not a soccer club but just a cash cow for vested interest i.e greedy officials, thugs masquerading as fans by wearing GMFC jerseys. I.e the same old stories

  • Fellow bloggers ! I believe that most of u didn’t attend the match from ur comments above.despite the results being the way they were something to be noted which is the way officiating was done.at times we should learn to appreciate the teams efforts in the game.I felt it forour players as the struggled only for the ref to do who he did.
Another issue was the balls mara hakuna pressure ,no pump etc etc.

For the one mentioning akumu plz if u saw the match u cud have noticed that he had done his duty well before he got the injury which made him to be substituted.

On issue of players welfare can someone tell me why the team can maintain momentum after travelling a day to the match as fans do,why can’t the office pay for the players airtickets to fly to the venue and the officials come with the team bus?
For those who were there peace was maintained despite machungu.

Can the officials stand out to be counted !

  • @Nyakogalo, thnks for the insight. Some of us have formed the habit of criticizing eveything and everybody with very little info on their end. The boys are really trying but either bad luck or the chemistry has gone low.
I still believe that the break given the teams and the mid transfer season that starts on 1st June will help us seal the gaps. The moment we accept that the league is tougher than ever before and that there are no more weak teams the better for us.
On another note I say pole sana for our fans who were carjacked and robbed after the game. Also thanks for maintaining the peace even after biased officiating. The problem is how long can this continue? Something needs to be done before it’s too late

  • THE LEAGUE RACE

We returned to Mumias Sports Complex hoping to bag the 3 maximum points against Western Stima but it was a double tragedy for when we lost the match and thereafter a section of our fans robbed by a gun brandishing gang on the way.

The parastatal team has once again proved their mettle by beating K’Ogalo two goals to one in a match heavely criticised for poor officiating.

I can also attribute the loss to fatigue due to the long safari by our players by road. The injuries too had taken a great toll with the technical bench with a skeleton team. I don’t know what goals the bench has set during the first leg of the Tusker Premier League but have no doubt their eyes is fixed on the prize.

The TPL trophy has eluded us for many years. We want to match the record held by our decades long rivals, AFC Leopards. In 2013, we want to lift the cup for 13th time!

If your committed like me and if you like K’Ogalo like, then let us cheer the team more than ever before in order to give our boys the moral strength and courage for the task ahead. I wish once more to say sorry to our fans for the unfortunate incident and hope our officials will seek ways of securing our travelling fans, officials and players.
