Gor Mahia adds second jersey sponsor

After closing a sponsorship deal with betting company Sportpesa, Gor Mahia have netted a second jersey sponsor. The new sponsor is Crown beverages. The deal is worth Ksh 50 million between now and 2019.

Announcing the  deal, Chairman Ambrose Rachier mentioned his commitment to take the club to greater heights.

“We have another new sponsor on board and this shows our commitment to helping Gor Mahia reach their targets for the 2016 season. As the office, we are committed to make Gor Mahia a branch and that is where we are headed to.”  said Rachier to goal.com

Crown Beverages is aiming to increase their market share in Kenya. Rachier has urged the fans to rally behind the team and this sponsor. Which means next time you buy beer, buy a crown beverages product.

Having two sponsors, while uncommon in the major European leagues like England and Italy, is very common in lesser leagues including France and Sweden.

Now its up to fans to pressure for structural changes that will how this team is run. Rather than have an EC whose roles are not clearly defined, Rachier should hire competent professionals to run the non-football aspects of the team.

One of the first things Rachier should do is to get the team its own training ground. He has been promising a stadium since 2008 yet a more realistic goal is to get a simple training ground as a starting point.

Nice to hear that. I hope we will not conflict with the first sponsor and lose but rather we should maintain both sponsors to the end. Congrats…

There is someonehere kknown as Blogger, I say stop your vulgarity.Where were you when AR was struggling with the team almost single handedly from 2008? We were then headed to the lower leagues and for sure we would still be struggling down there. Let our memories not fail so fast.

  • Congrats to Rachier, you have done well. But do not fear elections, just set a date at a gud time n get over with it. I hardly believe you will face any serious challenge. All the best.

  • Thank you for coming on board Crown Beverages;
I categorically think its because of the Gor Brand/Market that you are targeting hence the sponsorship.
My friends Mighty Gor Mahia brand sells with or without AR who is just riding the wave.
Let’s remember that Sepp Blatter and Sam Nyamweya Dinosaurs No.1 and No.2 also did “great things” or claimed credit whilst just riding on the football wave but eventually the lack of accountability and structures in the organizations they led determined their downfall.
Dinosaur No.3 is using the same dismissive statements that there is no corruption in GM hence denying the obvious.
I once asked are Meggie, Kagere and FN mad to ask EC those “big” signing fees. These are insiders more than you and me so they must know something we don’t.

AR there’s nothing to worry about your records speaks for itself, for one chairmanship there’s no serious contender your there an opposed two the number of EC must be reduced as it was 10yrs ago, chair, vice chair.sec general, asst, sec org, then treassure and asst tosha there and then members will replace them kwa hayo machache itisha uchaguzi for tension to reduce, meanwhile the future looks promising,on stadium plse dont dream big start with training ground as FKF PRESDA said, chap chap start it even with gate collection.but on club bus being taken by bank for unpaid loan of amillion hapo kuna ukora from your office, harambee raised 6m same amount raised by ingwe and looking at ingwe bus its abus with no loan while ours ni matatu with pendind loan.since there’s sponsor why charge gate collection 300/ and 600/ where total collection is never publiced ukora ndani ya offisi, kuna this guz whats there job,3vice chairs,kilo.ngala,ken.orowe.ferari,okuku.

The biggest threats (in order of severity) to our performance and sponsors are:-
    1) Hooliganism – fans have to behave
    2) Corruption/lack of transparency in the office
    3) Poor performance in the pitch

So let’s guard the brand as much as we can and be our brothers’ keepers. Those saying that Gor as a brand will naturally attract sponsors should ask themselves what happened in the last three years. The truth is that the person at the helm determines a lot on how the potential sponsors view the brand

@Bob, are you serious? The dynamics since the days of Okudo have changed. The players are no longer employees of Kenya Railways, KQ, Posta, GoK etc

Thank you Mr. Rachier for four tireless efforts in seeing that Gor keeps moving. You have come with this club from very far. if you were a person to give up easily, you would have done that long time ago after all you have your own profession. Do not worry about persons who may see the fruits hanging on the tree. There was a cost paid. Thank you for mentioning that when there was no money, it is only you who knows where you were able to get it for the sake of the club. May the Lord reward you. You have a big battalion behind you.

On Ogweno appointment of assistant coach, I personally do not agree with this appointment. We could have gone for any of our formers players such as Ocholla Jua Kali or Austi Oduor. These were the players with Gor Mahia ethos and ethics.
