Gor Mahia, AFC question KPL over gate collection

Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards are questioning highly suspicious gate collection figures released by FKF

Additional reporting from goal.com
According to KPL records, only Sh3, 267 fans turned up to watch the match, bringing total gate collection to Sh1, 033, 900

Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards refused to pocket 50% of the money raised during the Super Cup final on Sunday.

Both teams were entitled to a share of the gate collection but Goal now understands that they did not pick the same at the final whistle.

“It is true we never picked our share from gate collection. We have requested KPL to table a breakdown of how the money collected was shared before we pick our share,” K’Ogalo CEO Omondi Aduda told Goal.

According to a breakdown obtained by Goal, each player was to walk home with Sh850 had they taken the Sh150, 000 from KPL.

According to KPL records, only Sh3, 267 fans (269 VIP and 2, 998 terraces) turned up to watch the Super Cup deby. With each VIP ticket retailing at Sh500 and a seat at ‘Russia’ going for Sh300, the total gate collection came to Sh1, 033, 900.

After all deductions, that included among others, Sh5, 000 for ball boys, Sh50, 000 for models and Sh6, 000 for Public Address System, KPL were left with Sh774, 595.

Interestingly, still with Sh774, 595 on the balance after total deduction (Sh259, 305), KPL still handed Gor Mahia and Ingwe Sh300, 000 to be shared among the two clubs.

With Sh265, 000 for each club, each player was set to receive Sh850 for taking part in the KPL curtain raiser.

There is no way you can convince me that that huge crowd raised only 1 million!!it’s pretty obvious what has happened!!

Ati 50k for the models and they were not more than 4,that’s kshs.12,500 each but only kshs.850 per player. Kweli ni “Animal Farm”. Only 3,200 fans for the biggest game in Kenyan football yawa and people talk about mobilizing 1 million members, Yanga and Simba must be laughing their heads off. Let’s be realistic and target 5,000 members and grow it with CAF success. Also perhaps its time to reduce entry charges to even 50bob, 100bob maximum for us Russians.
