Homeboyz chairman reveals to Goal they have allowed the youngster to join Gor Mahia on a two year deal after both clubs agreed on contractual terms
Kakamega Homeboyz and Gor Mahia have finally agreed on defender Haron Shakava paving way for the youngster to pen a two year deal with the Kenyan Premier League champions.
Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula revealed to Goal on Wednesday that they have released the player after Gor Mahia agreed to pay an undisclosed fee.
“I am happy that finally we have agreed with Gor Mahia and they have paid us for the player. This is what we were asking for that any move be done officially.”
Two weeks ago, the player was at the center of controversy after his club complained that Gor Mahia wanted to sign him without going through the right procedure.
Homeboyz claimed that the player had a valid contract until 2018 even as reports emerged that Shakava had started training with the league champions.
Bandari set to release Kenga
Bandari FC are set to release fast-rising winger Shaban Kenga to join Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia.
Kenga, who has been Bandari’s mainstay in the attack, will link up with Gor Mahia at Loitoktok Wednesday where the team is holding high altitude training, K’Ogalo’s assistant coach, John ‘Bobby’ Ogolla said.
Bandari officials were on Tuesday expected to officially grant Kenga his release letter after agreeing terms with K’Ogalo paving the way for Kenga, one of the country’s brilliant dribblers, to join Gor Mahia.
DECISION
Bandari’s technical director, Edward Oduor, who had earlier said the team would not release Kenga, softened his stance Tuesday, saying they would respect the decision reached by Bandari chairman Abdullah Samtra and his Gor counterpart Ambrose Rachier who had a meeting earlier on Tuesday.
Now lets wait n see if it will materialize
Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia are looking to strengthen their technical bench ahead of the new season.
According to Secretary General George Bwana, the team wants to strengthen the backroom staff to ensure that they are strong enough for next season.
Gor Mahia will have a packed calendar next season; expected to defend their domestic title, represent Kenya in the Caf Champions League, Top 8 Cup, Gotv Shield and most likely Kenya Power Charity Cup.
“If you look at most teams who participate in Caf Champions League, they have a very rich technical bench with the coach having a huge list on his backroom staff. We are looking for two individuals, who will assist coach Bobby Williamson and assistant Bobby Ogolla. We are yet to settle on specifics but we will finish up soon,” Bwana told Goal.
Bwana refuted rumors that they are looking at hiring their former tactician Zedekiah Otieno, who is currently serving as Sony Sugar coach. On whether Williamson leaves for Tanzania as highly rumored;
“Williamson is very happy at Gor Mahia and those stories flying around are just rumors from the Tanzanian press. On Zedekiah, we have not talked to him and those again are rumors which are being pelted everywhere.”
How i wish everything could be done this way chair to chair, pen to paper, bank to bank, envelope to envelope not envelope to hand!
@ Erico jarae you did inquire on what “WE” shall do if one ZICO is forced down our throat on K’Ogalo TB.
The answer is simple and straight forward. We shall apply the same unorthodox actions we took the last time he was on the technical bench before he went sabbatical and disappeared into oblivion.
Let me remind you that ZICO was not fired by the EC since AR had a soft spot for his village-mate; But the good people of Gor Mahia fraternity sent him packing with his life at stake at Tok Komwanda. The rest is history.
You village-mates it is better you tread careful and understand that GM will never ever be a preserved property of JO-GEM. JUST BRING IT ON; TUKO TAYARI..!!
If it is true that Bandari have finally released Kenga then they have done the right thing. All that kengruok was totally unnecessary. However, is it true? Only the K’Ogalo jersey will tell.

Blow is the excerpt on Zico set for dramatic Gor return
Posted by ALEX ISABOKE on January 8, 2014
ZICO-GOR NAIROBI, Kenya, January 8 – 2014
Former Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars head coach, Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno, is set for a dramatic return to K’Ogalo as an assistant to Scotsman Bobby Williamson, club officials have stated.
Zico, currently at the helm of Sony Sugar, a team otherwise known as ‘Gor B’, left K’Ogalo in acrimony in 2011 having led them to second in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) the previous season behind Ulinzi Stars.
He is revered at the club as a no-nonsense defender who lifted the domestic league crown as captain in 1995, before the outfit reclaimed it last season after 18 years of hurt.
According to club Secretary General, George Bwana, K’Ogalo are in the process of bolstering the technical bench and prefer getting back their former tactician to share the designation with another former Gor legend player, John ‘Bobby’ Ogolla.
“A big team like Gor needs an elaborate, professional and experienced technical bench ahead of the new season that kicks-off in mid February.
“We are aware the 2014 KPL season will be tough, since we are set to participate in many competitions including the CAF Champions League. If you look at teams in the English Premier league, most of them have more that two assistant coaches, and that’s what we want to embrace at Gor,” Bwana told Capital Sport on Wednesday.
He was however, categorical that Williamson, is going nowhere and urged the Green Army to treat the swirling reports as speculation.
“We are working on a longer contract with Williamson. He is our head coach since we have a deal with him. That information from a Tanzanian Website is not true, they just want to intimidate Gor and see how we will react.”
The former Uganda Cranes tactician who guided K’Ogalo to the league title last season has been linked with Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC, after the Vodacom Premier League champions sacked the entire technical bench including Dutch born head coach Ernie Brandt.
Gor who are on a retreat in Oloitoktok at a high altitude training camp and will be involved in four major competitions next season namely, GOtv Shield, KPL Top 8, KPL and Champions League besides featuring in the DSTV Super Cup and probably Kenya Power Charity Cup.
Zico was sacked from Gor and his place taken by Cameroonian national Anaba Awono after an eight game winless run, the last straw coming after a 2-1 defeat to relegated Congo United at Nyayo National Stadium in September 2011.
The coach was also in charge of national team Harambee Stars at the time and the two responsibilities were blamed for the slump in his team’s fortunes. He was soon replaced by Francis Kimanzi at the beginning of October when the current Football Kenya Federation office led by Sam Nyamweya was elected into office on October 28.
Efforts to reach him on phone to comment on the matter proved futile by time of going to press.
@OGANGO TRAILER do you know that we can go further by applying reasoning than unorthodox actions? All these unothodox actions have resulted in the club being fined and our brand name remaining tarnished. Unfortunately you might not know the lose in terms of opportunities gor has lost due to this. At times the only goodwill we get after these actions are from Nyamweya. Do you know that Mourinho was axed from Chelsea but is now back?
We must learn to express our displeasure in a civilised way. Someone wrote in this site that as the main supporters of Gor the community must learn to protest in a non-violent way and was almost crucified. I believe he was both right and wrong. We have Gor fans who will never harm a fly and then there are those who cannot wait for the chaos to start. It’s our duty to educate these fans and we have to start doing it on this blog
@ Dan Original choices have consequences.. PERIOD..!
Are you not the same guy who referred to MOYES mediocre performance at Man U and OLD TRAFFORD patience as a good learning platform to the over zealous and ever demanding K’ogalo fan base?
Look at what happened last night after Swansea match.
Please swallow your word and accept that we are not leaving in an Utopian world.
FA is now investigating the same MOYES and the fireballs that led deaths. ZICO is a STIGMA in K’Ogalo.
GM’s executive community has been diagnosed 2 b suffering from a severe trait/case of directional confusion (dyslexia) & bloatism.
Bloatism is rare disease that seems affected the long serving (mistakenly referred 2 as most successful) chair AR who expanded the EC 2 bloated 11 officials, playing unit (b4 Loga stem the trend) & has now targetted the TB.
Dyslexia has been noted in the procedure used to sign players. EC would rather negotiate & pay players without confirming their contractual….
Mr .TRAILER you have confirmed it i said it here yesterday, but i can confirm that zico was called by my friend who is also his close friend and i can confirm zico is coming back.the guy is my friend and in fact he turned loud speaker on while speaking with zico and i heard everything zico said.the guy is coming back may be it is just this pressure we are pilling here that has made the club officials not to announce him as club assistant coach.
status which leaves them with no option bt 2 go & plead with the EC/chairs of the prospective player’s clubs 2 release the said players. U can bet the EC’s of Bandari, Hboyz r laughing all the way 2 the bank while that of P.Dynamo have named their price.
As 4 AR & his thurmate its pure arrogance by AR. Perhaps he is beefing up his security 4 the elections & requires the sevices of Ziko goons. Anyway as OT has said remember Ziko was forcefully ejected despite prolonged/stiff resistence frm AR.
In-as-much as George Bwana would want to engage in double speak or try to delay the impact of pain on Gor Mahia fans regarding this Zico matter, the truth is that this move is in the offing and it will come to pass.
The fairest thing the EC could do for Zico is not to recall him back to Gor Mahia. The intentions may be quite noble, but the timing is wrong. I get very very afraid for Zico’s personal safety. I think Zico is better off coaching SoNy. Indeed he is a remarkable tactician, no doubt about that. I still remember how he steered Kenya to a thriller of a match in Luanda where we were robbed of a clean goal by Kevin Master. The problem is “Jo-Gor” will not want to hear any of that. “Jo-Gor” are not very good people. Not after the beatings by his security goons alluded to herein and the Awendo chaos last season. The death of the former team physiotherapist is still very fresh in our memories. “Jo-Gor” are not very good people. Zedi please it is not worth the risk. Better eat the little that SoNy is giving you and enjoy your peace and live long. Zico it is not worth it. The EC members know this very well yet I don’t know why they are downplaying it. The risk is very obvious. No, it is not worth it.
Bring it on MR CHAIRMAN AMROSE RACHIER…BRING IT ON AND IT IS NOT A THREAT WE WILL SEE…IF YOU WILL SUCCEED WITH YOUR WAYS OF BULLDOZING US WITH ZICO…AM REALLY HAPPY WITH THE WORK YOU HAVE DONE IN SIGNING PLAYERS AND MY VOTE IS YOURS IN THE UPCOMING ELECTIONS.BUT ZICO OR WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A DIFFERENT ZICO IN THIS BLOG…?I HOPE IT IS NOT THE ONE AND THE ONLY ZEDEKIA OTIENO THE CURRENT SONY COACH ,THE BHANG SMOKER FROM KARIOBANGI…IF HE IS THE ONE WE ARE TALKING ABOUT….MR CHAIRMAN BRING HIM ON WE ARE HERE TO DEAL WITH HIM.WE CAN NOT ACCEPT TO GO BACK TO THE DARK DAYS WE WERE BEING BEATEN BY ZICO GOONS…NOOOOOOO…AND IT IS ABIG NOOOOO.
AGREED @ O. TRAILER / ODUOR 12 , ZICO issue seems to be about “thur-mate” and AR strategy on pending elections.
Man U is a house on fire. Am also a die-hard red devil and really feel it for Moyes. Those flare lit and thrown at Sunderland fans was a clear a sign of frustration.
zedekiah otieno zico , NO ! NO !! NO ! nooooooooooooooooo!!! NOT AGAIN !
Let zico continue coaching sony,we have had enough of him.
What’s Zico coming to do that he didn’t do when he had a chance of doing it? How are they going to work with The Six Million Dollar Man besides The Scortish on the right hand? Nooooooooo way let him stay at
Sony.
ziko will coach after some generations but not know .admin if you can contact gor mahia officials tell them that we dont want to make history in football as the first team who killed assistant coach in the pitch.please please please the guy should not appear any closer to gor mahia it is zico who wanted to attack bob williamson at sony and he was beaten coz of that how will they work in the first place.I see this thing like as if zico just want to end his life in this world ,zico you will be killed go your way…and to his friends who are reading this blog tell him not to even step in gor mahia touchline that is it,am very bitter and i mean it, since i have confirmed that the guy has signed two years in gor mahia.
It is JACK OMOLLO again,Know again bloggers put the one for zico aside i leaked it in this blog yesterday and seemingly it is true,Again there is the issue of this player from uganda kizito baba little did you know that the player came from uganda yesterday to negotiate with gor mahia officials and they never agreed on terms and conditions that the player wanted…?we are being told that the player has been signed by gor mahia while they never agreed on signing fee and the guy was told to go back and think about it…so in short it is as if the player has not been signed….what i dont know is whether he is thinking about it in uganda or kenya.these gor mahia officials are taking us round and round…..can someone investigate what i know is that there is no way the player has been signed and yet they were negotiating about the signing fee yesterday and was told to go and think about it after disagreement, so it is P.R as usual.
@ Jack Omollo/fellow esteemed bloggers I had advised (& I repeat it again) that we kindly wait 4 the CAF list, that’s when u will know who GM has/hasn’t signed & know which international signing has an ITC or is in a Emuge situation.
Also b very wary of GB the fellow has opted out of GM office so its not strange that his dealings & utterances r detriment-“13players 2 leave, Situmbeko, Ziko”
Its time EC APPOINTS AN IDEPENDANT ELECTION BOARD.
LET’S PUT FOOTBALL(ERS) FIRST AT GM NOT OFFICIALS
Kizito asked for a signing-signing fee alone-of Kshs:1.2M.This is way too high.As Jack says no agreement was reached. The tower of Babel that is EC is double speaking. They could have gone for Kahata, a home grown talent who has been tested and tried.Wherever Kizito is(Kenya or Uganda)I know he will not get a better offer what Gor was, presumably, ready to give him.He will still be a Gor player next season.
From the way people are blogging here now i know the hooligans and trouble maker at are, asanteni sana
ziko again why? I think the current TB has not failed & I don’t see the reason of bringing ziko. The best he will do is sabotage the two Bobby’ s. please please EC don’t bring this guy.on the issue of Kizito, GB talks a lot even before the deal is done he is always in public talking. kwani, ichieni omera. AR can you please come in & save the situation coz we really need an experienced central midfielder. Akumu & Eric will not manage it @ the continental level. Gor have always struggled in this department please! please! ATT: AR. To my fellow bloggers please assist in addressing this issue.
AR iam happy with the type of signing this season. You have done well and we are competitive again. BUT DONT ABUSE THE GOOD WORK YOU HAVE DONE BY BRINGING BACK ZICO plz understated.
