Gor Mahia aiming for a miracle

Having watched Gor Mahia play international football for a long time now, I have never seen a match where they faced such tall odds to win away.

To begin with, the team barely made it to Brazzaville and probably would not have made it had it not been for the bailout from the KPL. The coach has been away for a few days now and the team missed several days of training this past week due to a player strike.

AC Leopards for their part warmed up for the match with a 2-0 league over rivals Inter club de Brazzaville in a Congo league match. Gor Mahia will not be at full strength. Aside from missing the Rwandese trio of Sibomana, Nizigiyimana and Kagere who are ineligible for this tournament, they will also be missing the services of Khalid Aucho who is suspended due to multiple yellow cards.

Still coach Frank Nuttall is confident that the team will be able to pull through despite the missed training sessions.

“I don’t think the situation will affect us at all. At the end of the day, they only missed one training session but they are back on track and should no have be affected when get to the pitch on Sunday,” Nuttall told goal.com.

Gor Mahia will be attempting to improve from their performance in 2014 when they exited at teh same stage. They will also be trying to exorcise the ghosts of of 1988 when Gor Mahia lost to Inter Club of Brazzaville after enduring harsh treatment at the hands of their hosts.

To advance, Gor Mahia will be hoping to win by a score of 2-1. Any type of draw will eliminate them. And Nuttall thinks Gor Mahia are capable of scoring in Brazzaville.

“They scored one goal in Nairobi. We can do the same away. If we are able to score a goal then we will have the match back on track and this is what we intend to do.”said Nutall to goal.com

  • Gor Mahono.
This one I leave for the spirit of Gor Mahia and the players.
Everyone else has failed, EC, fans and even Nutall who took off only to return late in the day.
I think we as Gor Mahia fraternity we can’t expect / demand results if players/TB’s payments are in arrears.
Over to you Jotugo remember the famous victories e.g the CECAFA win in the Sudan.

All the best Mighty Gor Mahia try and beat the odds.

  • Under the previous post “Congo trip now in doubt” The Villager asked for an extrapolation of what his budgeted amount of kshs.10,000 can contribute towards GMFC’s financial stability.

In my response I had explained how GMFC can harness kshs.8,600 of this kshs.10,000 by EC offering discounted, privileged, gauranteed and secured entry and sitting to members.
On reflection the tickets for non-members should be actually kshs.300 for terraces and kshs.600 for VIP or even more expensive to make it more economical for one to be a member.

    Back to the main topic.

    1. If GMFC attracts only 2.500 members then we will raise 2,500 x 8,600=kshs.21,500,000/year payable of which kshs.3,750,000 is payable 1/4ly in advance as membership/sacco fees.

    2. If GMFC attracts 5,000 members then we will raise 5,000 x 8,600=kshs.43,000,000,000/year payable of which kshs.7,500,000 is payable 1/4ly in advance as membership/sacco fees.

    3. If GMFC attracts 7.500 members then we will raise 7,500 x 8,600=kshs.64,500,000/year payable of which kshs.11,250,000 is payable 1/4ly in advance as membership/sacco fees.

Am looking at the crowds at GMFC matches and what is practicable in terms of what is affordable to the fans and manageable to the management.

However such monies cannot be entrusted to the EC under the current weak Society structure. The Sacco is a more accountable structure with legal enforceable regulations regarding management of members funds. GMFC the society must dissolve and be replaced by the Sacco.

Maybe the monthly membership can be made more affordable to say kshs.300 monthly or encourage a bigger uptake of membership.

Another most important thing is that members must avoid disruptive behaviour to make the club more attract- don’t disrupt traffic. BE COLOURFUL BUT NOT DISRUPTIVE.
EC mine is just a proposal even if you kick off with 200 members THIS THING WILL GROW.

To our team in Congo draw inspiration from the great victories of “Mighty Gor Mahia” e.g Mandela Cup 1987.
Please qualify and let EC sweat looking for money.

    • P.S I FORGOT AN IMPORTANT POINT FOR THIS MODEL TO WORK THE MEMBER MUST BE GIVEN PRIVILEGED TREATMENT COMPARED TO THE ORDINARY FAN.
EC MUST ENFORCE THESE SPECIAL TREATMENT.
