Gor Mahia backs off second assistant

courtesy of futaa.com

Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia have backed off beefing up their technical bench with a second assistant coach.

Club deputy secretary general Ronald Ngala said they reconsidered the earlier thought for a later moment.

-We decided to drop the idea, Ngala confirmed in an interview with futaa.com

-We thought it wise to back off till the time we shall see it necessary.

The move to bring back Zico is reminiscent of 2010 when Gor Mahia already had Gideon Ochieng “Agido”  and Zico was brought in as Technical Advisor. Two months later Zico had replaced “Agido”. This time Williamson nixed the idea by saying he is okay working with Bobby Legend.

AFC Targetting Wanyonyi

The rumour mill has it that AFC Leopards are eying the services of Gor Mahia midfielder Joseph Wanyonyi.

Reports reaching our news desk reveal that Ingwe is ready to part with Kshs. 800 000 to rope in the Aspire Academy product.

Speaking to futaa.com, Wanyonyi downplayed the reports while insisting he is not ready to quit the Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions.

Cross over

-I am yet to be contacted by AFC, averred Wanyonyi.

-The fans want me but I am not ready to cross over as I want to go back to school.

When contacted, Gor Mahia deputy secretary general Ronald Ngala affirmed the talks while revealing the club will only let him go upon agreement.

Mid season

-We have also heard of the talk but to my knowledge, he (Wanyonyi) wants to go back to school but should they approach us, we can release him upon agreement as it was part of the terms while he was signing the contract.

All this comes after AFC did not have the good sense to sign Wanyonyi when they had a chance.

My prediction was this Zico ploy was a back up plan in case BW leaves the club. Since BW is not leaving and is comfortable working with JBO , then ZICO’s case has been laid to rest !!!!

My prediction on Wanyonyi is that we send this boy on loan, NOT selling HIM to a serious club in the TPL league. This boy’s value will definitely appreciate so lets not loose him on the cheap. It will be difficult for him to command a starting position at gor mahia in 2014 looking at the competition in the middle of the pack.

Now that lavatsa is gone, EC please offload wanyonyi on loan like I had suggested and back that up with a toweing central defender and possibly another top notch 20 goal target man -Kennedy wendo will be a good bargain.

    Asanteni sana !

Why would they send Wanyonyi on loan when Williamson has deemed him good enough to be in the starting line-up. My take is that Kogalo should hold onto this player with both hands because they will eventually be able to sell him to a big club for good money.

@Riaga with the kind of players we have at the center whether BW likes it or not Wanyonyi will warm the bench. Can you envision him coming ahead of Kenga and Blackberry. The left wing is even more packed with Kevo, oboya and Mutiso while in the middle will he come ahead of Akumu, Kizito, Eric and Rama. Please lets be realistic for me the ideal thing wld be to loan him to City stars or KCB but not AFC leopards. We have too many good players at the middle of the pack and am glad Lavatsa has gone to ease things up. Shld Wanyonyi be next?

interesting times at GM.anyonyi says he cannot go to AFC either because he has not been asked or that he wants to go to school. He can still go to school while at Ingwe though at Gor we can build him as a soccer player and academician as well. We have Kiongera persuing his campus studies and playing as well. I fear that at his age the same pressure (parents/clan/tribe) that messed Masika might overcome him. I hope it doesn’t happen but if it does then at 800k it will not be a bad bargain for GM. We can use the money to get Wendo, Kahata or Omino

wanyonyi is an excellent player that gor should hold on to , But Afc does not want to see any luyah player , playing for gor mahia , they will used all means to a quire his services, talk to his parents en dish out money , lets wake up en get kahata before things get worse , for sure he will go to ifusi , where is Masika Erick ? his name does not feature even in the National team ! yet while he was playing for Gor , he was among the players in the national team . i support Dan original .

  • Wanyonyi is an asset & shud not be sold to a local club at all cost.what the GM shud do is to send him out on loan but only if BW thinks so.

Bloggers, you can’t force a plan to remain in the team if his heart as well as tribe/parents/clan/community/sub tribe etc have decided for him. Am seeing Masika’s case being replicated here.

In case some of us don’t knw ths, when Wanyonyi first came frm Qatar his dad went and begged AFC to sign him even for free bt they turned down the offer. Now they av seen his worth they wnt him.So typical of them since they av ths misguided idea tht all players frm tht part of the world belong to them. The saddest news is tht Wanyonyi hs already admitted his love for the club he hs supported since childhood. It is only a matter of tym bet he decamps. After the Masika saga, thn Lavatsa’s flirtation wt them in 2012 n nw Wanyonyi, ditto Situma n Shikokoti am afraid we need to start cutting our losses through a pragmatic signing policy. Gor is a team 4 all Kenyans bt Keny is a big country with a national spread of talent. Rama, Kenga,Kariuki, K29,Omwenga,Musa et al.Only a self destructive man marries a bride he knows is gonna leave him for her high school sweetheart

I hope they also realize that KEVO belong to them through the Obwaka heritage.

But the sad thing is that all these people will end up like PPO who is now a Watchman with a scanner and not the PPO with a AK – when he was in GOR

Guys, as part of our preparations let’s vote for the team to participate in the Kenya Power Charity cup. Currently we are trailing Ingwe in votes, something which has never happened. So let’s play our part and vote for our beloved team else we be shocked like Ingwe was last year when they were left out

To me the sad thing is that GM looks eternally helpless to do the necessary in implementing the formulae of gaining from such transfers.

Truly speaking a player like Lavatsa could not have left without any tangible benefit to the club if we had the right people in GM management because the contract renewal procedures should have been initiated long time ago, but lo! What happened? Remember its only this year that we are fundraising maybe because of the elections, while revenue streams are forever mishandled.

It is not AFC or other teams that are the problem if anything they are willing to pay, Now that we have many Lavatsas, Ramas, Mosotis, Mapundas etc in our camp definately on other teams radder, why can’t we maximize on their commercial benefits.

Wishing you well Lavatsa in your new office.
