Gor Mahia banned from CECAFA for 2 years

CECAFA has slapped a two year ban on Gor Mahia for what they consider gross insubordination.

Additional reporting from the Standard
Gor Mahia have been suspended from Cecafa competitions for two years over indiscipline issues and their Kagame Cup prize money withdrawn.

The decision was reached in yesterday night’s regional body executive committee meeting in Dar es Salaam after K’Ogalo players refused to take their Kagame Cup bronze medals at the National Stadium.

In addition, the Kenyan giants will not get the Sh 1M prize money that they were supposed to receive after they beat Zanzibar’s Jeshi la Kujenga 2-0 in the third place off.

Prior to snubbing the closing ceremony, Gor Mahia had refused the hotel initially allocated to them before declining to use the dressing room during their 2-0 semifinals defeat to eventual champions Azam over ‘witchcraft’ allegations.

“The executive committee have met and decided to suspend Gor Mahia from Cecafa competitions for two years for snubbing the medal ceremony,” said Cecafa Secretary General Nicholas Musonye during Saturday’s press briefing.

“Even if they qualify in 2019 and 2020, they will not play. We have gone through reports of Gor Mahia matches and seen a series of indiscipline issues.First they refused the hotel, then declined to use the dressing room and on Friday they failed to honour the medal ceremony.”

Gor coach Dylan Kerr was not spared either as Musonye gave the Briton a stern warning.

“Let this be the last warning to Gor Mahia coach who has repeatedly abused the match officials. We have directed FKF to take disciplinary actions against him. He got away with this for now, but for the next two years he will not be here,” he said.

“Gor Mahia is a big team and is representing us in Confederations Cup, but they cannot take law in their own hands. Clubs are used to holding their federations at ransom, this will not happen at Cecafa.
Gor are expected to face Yanga in their second Group D CAF Confederations Cup match at Kasarani Stadium on Wednesday.

  • Why did the players go to play in CECAFA? We all know what the players are going through with the EC but they should have taken the medals. The indiscipline is fast cropping into the playing unit and there is no where you can go as player when you are indiscipline. I will never waste my hard earned money to go and watch you in the stadium.

    • Everytime time we blame the EC. The problem is the players if they dont want to respect laws just because they are un beaten in Kenya, they should leave.

We have only dominated Kenyan premier league and won no other Cup, tunaanza maringo. I support Cecafa 100%

I have been a Gor Mahia supporter since 1981, a time when all the current players had not been born.

Let the current crop of players know that indiscipline will not take them anywhere. They are extremely indisciplined. Let all of them be released at the end of the year and a crop of players be recruited. Kenya and Africa does not have a shortage of players willing to join Gor Mahia. Gor Mahia is bigger than any individual.

    • I disagree, the problem is systemic in nature. The management must put in place systems that will accommodate all, players included.
Yes, you will dismiss these players and recruit others and place them in this current system that is not working and again end up with the same problem.
That’s why we’ve never made progress from that time, 1981, that you claim to have known Gor.

  • Gor is our heart & soul and must continue succeeding by any means necessary. EC sit down and honour players demands so we can move forward in harmony and unison. If seething with anger as a very senior EC official is currently doing owing to this debacle is how a solution is to be reached then we might loose our standing as Kenyan football giants and the only team that matters in this country. Players unrest is akin to students burning schools and dormitories currently in Kenya symbolizing an underlying problem that sober heads must solve. An EC and Playing Unit always at loggerheads is not good for GM. Finally Musonye leave Sir Kerr the Great alone those referee’s deserved a dressing down for dubious calls and being aloof to new Fifa Rules.

While no one has come out to set the records straight, it pains me to watch the story unraveling before our own eyes. Gor Mahia is a brand that has taken eons of years to build. We will therefore not let a few selfish men and women to destroy this storied club. The EC MUST urgently and switly furnish the THE OWNERS of the Club (SISI) with a detailed report on the total amount of monies PAID to Gor Mahia and how the same has been used. (Income and Expenditure Account) 2.SISI KAMA WENYE CLUB, we must gather in record numbers and forcefuly remove Aduda from the Club. 3. We MUST demand for the termination of the contracts of the OS and the Treasurer. These three people MUST be removed from Gor Mahia as soon as possible. 4. Aduda should not e allowed anywhere near the team as from now. 5. AR MUST be called to stand up and to give clarification on the procedures followed when paying:- (a) Salaries (b) Bonuses (c) Allowances. 5. Players MUST be made aware of the DOS and DONT’S. This MUST be clearly spelt in their contractual letters. 6. Players should made aware of the laid down procedures to follow when seeking redress. 7. Whoever has caused the Club to lose revenue ( CECAFA) MUST must be called out to make good the amount lost. If the players are solely responsible for this loss then the same amount should be deducted from their salaries to make good the amount. They must be FINED! FINALLY, if the EC is responsible for this debacle in TZ, then we have no choice but to call for it’s immediate disbandment. Rachier and his people will have to be forced out if they can’t peacefully resign. We have the will and means to force them out as soon as next week.

  • It sometimes helps to go beyond blinding momentary emotions to apprecoate the effect of our simplistic solutions to matters that are otherwise not so simplistic .
E.g when even in the heat of the moment , some are brave enough to go beyond the mobs calls for blood and instead call for contracts to adhered to , it is seen by some as an attempt to side with the EC , but is that really so .
A contract stipulates all that is required of you and what to expect as rewards and punishment and this will if advised properly and with foresight will include the salaries and bonuses etc , but on one condition , that you perform and I repeat , when you perform , the rewards are as stipulated in the contract and hence this nonsensical notion that when you perform you must be rewarded outside the contractual stipulations is the cause of what we are now witnessing and if this is what Aduda was putting his foot down for , unpopular as it may sound , I stand with him , and I will even go further to say that , whatever gentleman’s agreement they had with the players but was outside the contract be whittled down by 1million loss of cecafa money , if you burn the school , your parents will pay , no matter how poor they are and no matter what “justification” you had , saying this does not mean absolving the management , in the relevant case here being the EC .
This nonsense that the players have performed so that we should be emotional over their unseeming demands must be revisited bcoz is it not a
fact that they were hired to perform and win trophies .
Contracts may sometimes be re negotiated but not on the basis of blackmail .
Let everybody stick and do the right thing in their lanes .
My direct and unconditional support is reserved not for the EC or the players but the club , Players including those who swear their “love” will come and go , no matter what love we shower on them , Kagere went and we have all heard what Nzigimana’s wishes are – to join Yanga

Is GM account number unknown to the two senior officials or who were they consulting first and for what reason?Players then said 70% be given to them right on the spot and be re-couped from the money when wired as even previous promises had been broken and they were whipped into line by being read for the Riot Act. Relations btn Aduda and John Pesa acting for AR on one side and Players on the other is becoming very toxic to a point that the good run we enjoy is at stake and Sir Kerr is becoming sad and depressed. I have advised that these players are what we have Now and as such must be first and number one priority for the club. • FACT : EC has running contracts with players that stipulates payments of salaries and match allowances by 5th of every month.

FACT : Players and TB have signed the contract and are aware of the rules of the games and the same contract is copied to sponsors – sportpesa.

FACT: Participating in tournaments is at the jurisdication of the EC , they decide which tournaments the club should engage in

FACT : Winning any tournament and therefore susequent prize monies is not a guarantee

FACT : EC’s salaries and allowances have increased by 20% over the last 2 years, infact since the last elections. This is factored into their contracts since it is at their discretion – they are judged by the overall performance of the club – trophies won.

FACT: Existing players contracts does not talk about bonus and prize money for competitions.

FACT: Bonuses and prize money for competitions is at the discretion of EC to decide how to spend the money. Remember EC is not funded by sponsor – sportpesa so how do they sustain the day to day office operations and recurrent expenditure

FACT : Alll our clubs income streams – gate collections, water, bread, tv, gor mahia SACCO etc etc are run by private companies/individuals, exploiting our existing constituion and riding on kogallo fanbase and are therefor keen to line their private pockets and not the pockets of the club

SO BEFORE YOU TAKE SIDES ! PLEASE GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT BUT IT IS VERY CLEAR, WHERE THE PROBLEM LIES – THE ARCHAIC AND PRIMITIVE CLUB CONSTITUTION.

    Reply
    • Jakoyo all this you have enumerated above is of no help since who is at the Helm of the club and rode to the position of chairman with a pledge to review the Club Constitution as a matter of urgency? Is it not your demi-god His Majesty Right Reverend Jakwoo who is maintaining the status quo by not having the constitution reviewed since it favors their fleecing of club funds and opaqueness that they thrive in?

    • @jakoyo , while I agree with you that the Gor constitution is a problem , I beg to disagree with u when you try to insinuate that AR is not the problem bcoz he is the overall problem as the head of this rudderless , clueless and visionless EC .
It is a fact as has been said on this wall over and over again , that the club’s hierachy is needlessly bloated and chaotic , disfunctional and deliberately so , that being enabled to allow the ravenous feasting on the club’s meagre resources to the detriment of the club’s core priorities , the consequence of all these sheninigans being what we are now witnessing .
When AR talked about changing the club’s constitution before the elections to usher in systems and structures , was it not in appreciation that the lack of the same was a hindrance , and while doing so , who did he have in mind to change it if not himself ?.
For the last few weeks as these grievances were boiling over , did we , even once hear AR pronounce himself on the same ? , No , yet what could be more important a priority than this ?
Did it have to reach this far ?, is the world cup more of a priority than dealing with this situation , and a time like this .
Going on a tangent about Aduda is just another case of dealing with the symptons in a situation where radical surgery is needed since the same Aduda is a direct consequence of Rachier where ultimately the buck should be and must stop .
Whatever has happened is unfortunate , we have a game in the week against Simba in the week and something must be done , however short term it is , but in the mid and long term , something drastic must happen , irrelevant heads must roll , the gravy train must stop and discipline must be restored in all entities and all that love the club must get involved , each and all with their Arsenals , bcoz diplomacy may fail and if it does , then plan B and C must be engaged bcoz sometimes things must get bad , very bad before they get better , so let the ones who hold the stakes /steaks decide how they want
It , we cant always be making a step forward then through sheer ineptness , incompetence and gluttony , we make two steps backward only to start afresh from way back than where we
      had long passed .

    3. Gor Mahia players to offer apology to fans whom they have no problem with. Mark you some fans died because they support these players.
    4. Gor mahia office to agree on cease fire with players.
    5. After our CAF match players can select five them to meet with Chairman and openly tell him their frustration. They should all agree on the way forward.

Gor as a club knows what to do when. Note that you don’t suspend players before hearing their side of the story. And if you dare read widely AR insinuates that there are EC members who are not working for the good of the club and those will be weeded out , not by the EC but the club members.
We are meeting a weakened Yanga and hence we need our house in order, we also meet a wounded leopard/cat this weekend.
On the CCAFA medals and cash, is there a law that says that you forfeit your medals and cash once the match ends peacefully. Is picking the medals physically a requirement. Courtouis and Kane never picked their medals yesterday because they already left with their teams. I hear Musonye says that he will nt allow us to appeal the ban, medal and cash withholding. We have the Court of Arbitration here in Kenya and CECAFA is also a sports org in Kenya, so they are not above the law

Musa Mohamed maiden date against Zesco ends in chaotic fashion
    14 JUL 2018, 10:05 SANG KIPLAGAT
Musa Mohamed’s Nkana debut ended in a chaotic fashion as their match against Zesco had to be abandoned.

Mohamed who was lining up against his compatriots: David Owino, Anthony Akumu, and Jesse Were at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium for the FAZ matchday 24, came across what he might not have wanted to happen in his first league match for Nkana.

The match had to be stopped twice as both sets of fans wrecked havoc following two legitimate decisions by referee Wiseman Musako. Nkana striker idris Mbombo was cautioned for simulation in the 79th minute. The visiting fans raided the stadium with beer glasses in a demonstration against the decision. The match was halted for four minutes and began again in the 85th minute.

In the 90th minute, Zesco defender Marcel Kalonda handled the ball inside the box and that led to Musako give Nkana a justified penalty. Zesco fans invaded the pitch with beer bottles too demanding then referee rescind the penalty decision.

The match was halted again. Zesco was on the verge of losing their first match in thirteen encounters. The fate of the derby lies with the fAZ disciplinary committee now.

The score at the time of second drama was 1-1. Nkana scoring through Ronald Kampamba and Zesco getting the equalizer by Lazarus Kambole.
