Gor Mahia FC send packing promoted Nairobi Provincial League (NPL) side Superloaf FC by a 5-0 whipping in a friendly match played on Saturday 18 January 2014 at the City Stadium starting 1430hrs local time.

David Calabar Owino scored a sparkling brace in the 23rd and 33rd minutes before new signings Jared Obwoge, Herbert Kopany and Shaban Kenga netted a debut goal each in the 71st, 74th and 82nd minutes respectively.

David Owino

Gor were offensive from the opening whistle and could have broken the deadlock in 22nd minute when a Dan Sserunkuma curling shot was parried off by Superloaf keeper Charles Otieno for a fruitless corner.

A minute later, Gor were on the lead. Returning Rama Salim found David Owino from a free kick on the right flank with the latter squeezing between Superloaf defenders to open the score lines.

Ten minutes later, the Kenyan international claimed a brace from another header after latching on a Rama Salim back heel pass coming from an Eric Ochieng’ corner kick as the match went for a break with the Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions leading.

Resumption

On resumption, the champions made changes bringing on Shaban Touchscreen Kenga for Kevin Omondi, Joel Bataro for David Juma in goal, Jared Obwoge for Rama Salim, Daniel Onyango for Eric Ochieng, Haron Shakava for Israel Emuge, Solomon Nasio for Calabar and Herbert Kopany for Dan Sserunkuma.

The rioting began with Jared Obwoge tripling the lead on the 72nd minute after a lone effort inside the box.

Kenga’s pile driver

Three minutes later, Herbert Kopany, a Kanga High School alumnus tapped in a racing Solomon Nasio clear cut pass from the right channel but it was Kenga’s pile driver that arose jubilation from the stands with the Ingwe chantings renting the air from Kogalo fans.

Superloaf who looked inexperienced created minimum chances with few minutes to fulltime but former Western Stima custodian David Juma ensured he produces top drawer saves to keep a clean sheet on his debut.

Blackberry did not feature in the match as he followed matters from the stands together with Innocent Mutiso and experienced Patrick Oboya.

Amin Agik

Top tier referee Amin Agik was at the centre of the proceedings with the assistance of John Alando and Japheth Juma as the first and second assistants respectively.

Good warm up and convincing win…..starting with 4-3-3 formation and then reverting to 4-2-4 looks like what kogallo will be playing throughout the season!

    Good luck mboys.

  • @Elvis, going by the friendly, the guy must train harder and loose some pounds to be assured of a place. I thought Walusimbi looked strong and ready. The other guys who impressed me were Bataro and Kariuki. Kariuki is my bet for star of the season. He has wonderful vision.

Blogers obwoge is a player the guy really knows how to make moves, kariuki is also a good player, i cant say anything negative on the new signings the guys were fantastic even kopany will be avery good striker if he is groomed well, another guy is shakava i love the guy height and his tackles, generally we have made very good signings i cant underate any of them.what i saw there is stiff competition in gormahia nowender kiongera flew away ,the guy could not make it.shaban kenga goal was just waw!the goal of the match..it was fantastic.Kizito is a good midfielder it is just a mater of reducing slight body weight.otherwise we can retain the league with the quality of players in kogalo.

by the time we play the UG team in a friendly we will be ready but I have realized is that we have a huge task in CAF. The Gabon National team is doing well in CHAN and obviously most of the players to face GM are in SA. What we need is some psychological boost for our players to have that belief. As for the TPL I believe we can retain our title. All we need is to be consistent like we were last year. We can even lose to the Tuskers, Sofapaka, Ulinzi but make sure we beat the other teams afterll that how ManUnited took the title last year and same for us. Consistency will be the key. We have to ensure that the matches we are to ‘lose’ we get a draw.
Let me wish you PEACEFUL AND FRUITFUL elections

@Dan Original, we need a proper strategy for both Caf and Tpl to win..! Do not prepare the team to loose to the likes of Tusker, Ulinzi ……….!We are in these competitions as cup contenders, not as participants. We have the means and capabilities to achive those objectives. All our players are professionals and what they require is focused leadership. With the battery of assorted talents in the team, we require real Managers/Mentors for each key departments to complement the work of the head coach and for the team to realise the power of their full potential. Each game be taken in its entity with proper preparations. This is the only way forward. Remember, thre are certain critical games that fans reserve their bragging rights!!!

PUT FOOTBALL 1ST WHEN VOTING TOMORROW.

SOME BLOGGERS HAVE EVEN DEFENDED EC’S GATE COLLECTION FIGURES 4 2013 BUT LOOK @ THE FOLLOWING FACTS AS REGARDS OUR HOME GAMES:
    1. Aug13 vs AFC- 3.9M
    2. 30/7/13 vs Karuturi-1,297,500
    3. 23/7/13 vs W.Stima-1,430,000
Total collections from only these 3 matches is already 6,627,500!
These r actual figures released by EC (sources Ngala/GB/Faiz thru futaa.com/michezoafrika) though understated prove GM’s gate collections can’t b 9.1M however creative ua maths.

Remember the club also gets 40% of the gate collections from the GoTv matches & GM went all the way 2 the final.

As regards Kiongera however much u may berate him (& even Lavasta) remember again it was EC’s of its own collective wisdom/foolishness (11 of them) that decided 2 submit the name of an UNCONTRACTED player 2 CAF.

ALL SAID & DONE AFTER TOMORROW’S VOTE LET’S RECOGNIZE WHOEVER WINS AS OUR EC & GIVE THEM SPACE SAY 5/6 MONTHS 2 IMPLEMENT THEIR STRUCTURES BUT VIGILANT WE SHOULD/WILL REMAIN.

tom @12,whats wrong with igwe chants??i see absolutely nothing wrong in that!fans the world over do it in support of their teams…so why not us??afterall its not abusive or provocative!move with the times!!

@Tom Ochieng the chant is not Ingwe but Igwe (from Nigerian movies) and that’s why we bow when we say igwe. We all know that some Kenyans have problem saying goat and will say ngoat just like some will also say sip instear of ship. Football facts is that a team will always lose some matches (points) especially to their ‘equals’ but the difference is always how they recoup this by beating the ‘lower’ teams. It’s true no team prepares to lose but it is inevitable. The year we lost the title to Tusker at the last minute is an example. We beat Ingwe, Tusker, Ulinzi etc but lost some valuable points to Muhoroni and City stars and this attributed to the failure to win the league.

Guys this is our season, us as fans lets give our technical bench some peace and EC should and must give them space to implement their ideas, generally i am comfortable and waiting for the season. To the two Bobbys’ remember 1987, we want to be there, Africa here we come, that is the most important cup. We are Kogallo and hakuna Kungoja ngoja, this is my Kogalo and my ancestors Kogalo, let MAHONO reign.

@Benomondi, unfortunately some of us are not based in Nbi and thereabouts and the logistics of coming to vote then travel back with the ban on night travel would not work for us. Now that you are there can you update me and the thousands of GM supporters who cannot make it there. Don’t forget that we have fans all over the world and it would not make economic sense for some of them to travel just for the election though they still love GM

    Congrats GM fans.
Now that AR is back I hope he will concentrate on the issues he campaigned for:- the reclaiming of the club land at Embakasi, players welfare (insurance and coperative) as well as sponsorship.
We also hope Dr. Adede will not ‘disappear’ but push for the new constitution aka new structures for the club. For the new team we want to see a difference from the way the club was being ran. They now have a chance to right all the wrongs they pointed out in the old team.
We can now make preparations for the year without looking over our shoulders as the ghost of elections is behind us.

congrats all new office bearers once again
