Gor Mahia beats Ulinzi 2-1

Scorer: Erisa Sekisambu

Kogalo have clearly put aside their Africa cup debacle. They continued their good run on Monday, beating Ulinzi Stars 2-1. It was a refreshing win for Gor Mahia given that this is the team that benefited from a dubious penalty just last week. The goals came from Erisa Sekisambu and Samuel Onyango.

Samuel Onyango came off the bench to notch what proved to be the winner as Gor Mahia registered a 2-1 win over hosts Ulinzi Stars in a Kenyan Premier League clash staged at the Nakuru’s Afraha Stadium on Monday 29 April.

Just as they did in the reverse fixture, Gor Mahia was the first to take the lead through Erissa Ssekisambu in less than 30 seconds. The Ugandan heading in a floated ball by Francis Mustafa past goalkeeper James Saruni.

In a rain-soaked pitch, Gor Mahia came raiding again in the tenth minute through Mustafa after a quick counter. The Burundian was to be stopped off his track by Boniface Okinyi who was to earn a yellow card for his troubles.

Miscommunication

Mustafa was to see his shot veer of the target narrowly in the 14th minute after being laid by Nicholas Kipkurui. On the other end, a confusion between Joakim Oluoch and keeper Shaban Odhoji almost gifted Ulinzi an equalizer after the duo misjudged a cut back by Brian Birgen but Joash Onyango was at the right place to clear the ball to safety with Omar Boorafya having arrived to make a tap.

The lively Kipkurui was to be fouled more than twice by defender Harun Mwale and with the referee having warned the latter enough, he was to pick his yellow card in the 43rd minute for another foul on the Gor Mahia winger; Ssekisambu goal separating the two teams heading into the break.

Second Half

Hashim Sempala was to come close for  Gor Mahia on the earlier proceedings of the socks half with Ulinzi throwing in John Njuguna and Ezekiel Okare for Omar Boraafya and Wamalwa respectively.

They were to get the equalizer in the 76th minute through Enosh Ochieng but Samuel Onyango who had started the match on the bench was to haunt his former employers four minutes from time.

Congrats to the playing unit TB and EC for this victory. Special appreciation goes to Mustafa, Ssekisambu and Sempala for troubling walinzi wa ulinzi up to the last minute. They played like true Kogallo warriors. So even in the absence of Shakava, BlackBerry, Muguna Tyuisenge, Kahata and Oluoch Gor still beats ulinzi stars! Honestly speaking there no more fringe players in Gor. Let’s clap for Wendo for playing 90 min without a yellow card and Shaban for that splendid performance. Next on the chopping board is moto sindwendwe of arocho, wembe ni ule ule. Keep it up.

This Ojomondi, you are operating on what fuels/weeds, you are difficult to understand. I think it’s really up to the other teams to pull up, not Gor to bend low so as to pull them up. Until they will be able to beat us, it’s really our time to dance and rejoice. I request for a thorough thrashing and shutting down of the noisy KCB, sindwendwe and Arocho

Congrats team. By the way is it only me who has seen that the comments are few in between and less-poisonous in this wall. Is it because we are winning? What do we promise these heros of ours ? I hope the fans and also the office has something in store for them.
It’s good to see that the rotation is working for us.
Meanwhile Mwalala says that Ingwe and Gor intimidate refs and that’s why he lost to both teams. He might just win the shield and go to play Zamalek or Esperance away from home. That’s when he will know what intimidation is

Mwalala, Mwalala ati AFC and Gor are average teams only assisted by their supporters and referees? What outrage!! Then Bandari is what, below average or nonquantity? This man was put an large budget to deliver the league this year and becoz that is slipping away he must find some stuff to tell his bosses. Bure kabisa

Mwalala has the freedom to express what he thinks is right or wrong. The most unfortunate thing however, is it is all in his mind and not on the ground. For example when he is criticizing Gor for having supportive supporters, and admitting that they are bringing results, why can’t he do the same for Bandari? He has all the advantage to woo the Coast Support. Considering that Bandari is the ONLY team from the whole Coast region. It is a high time that he realized that the race is not just for first and swift to take off the blocks, it is for the smart and tactful. Why didn’t he take advantage of Gor’s Continental assignments to widen the gap. Instead his team started back peddling. What I also find ironic, is when he brings Afc into this conversation on our table. May I encourage him to instead pay attention to what is making Bandari kudorora.

By beating Gor in the first leg mwalala thought he had won the league. His mouthy TM Oburu has also gone quiet, what an embarrassment! Mashemeji derby is on 19th unless rescheduled.

Sofa are the emerging new threat to our dominance. They have been grinding out results of late.

It therefore means we cannot afford to rest on our laurels…and cannot afford to ignore the chasing pack now that we are on the homestretch.

But as things are,we have nothing to be worried about..let’s just play our part as fans and push the team to retain the crown!!
