Gor Mahia still have a chance to defend their GOtv Shield after advancing to the quarter finals of the tournament with a 2-0 win over Thika United in a match played at the City Stadium.

Experienced Patrick Oboya pulled the trigger in the 50th minute with a neat left foot chip over Lucas Indeche in the Thika United goal before Ugandan Dan Sserunkuma added the second in the 58th minute.

First half

From an eventful first half, Gor Mahia continued with their tricks in front of goal with Patrick Oboya on a six month deal proving a thorn in the flesh for the Thika defenders.

The FISA Academy man slammed home a left footed shot from a Kevin Omondi pass, also from FISA to open the scoring for the Green Army as well as his account in Kogalo, that coming in the 50th minute.

Thika United operating on the back of hundreds  of Gor Mahia fans cheereing on pressed on for the leveler but it was Ugandan Dan Sserunkuma who sent their fans into a frenzy with a second goal.

It all started from Kevin Dadi Omondi combining well with Njuguna back to him to find Sserunkuma with the later again chipping home past a hopeless Indeche in the Thika goal.

Gud one, keep the fire burning, remember wednesday is only 2 days away.

  • Dan Original says:

We actually dominated the game but my problem is still why we lob long balls even when we are comfortably leading, The ball controls of the likes of Kahata and King’atua is still missing from our team. You could see them from comfortably receving the balls and taking on our defenders. We are wastefull at goal and the minimum number we should have left with today was four. Our two central defenders are also not comfortable starting the bals from their end but would rather lob it forward to our short strikers. I liked the confidence of Oboya of taking the defeenders head-on on one-on-one situations.
The bitter end to the game ws the unprofessional conduct of Daddy and Kiongera after the final whistle, This was playing out dressing room issues in front of the fans and the TV audience. I hope the TB will arrest this situation before it messes our concentration for the next matches. Otherwise Boys thanks for the win

  • Alego tat yien says:

I was not able to watch the match but i think this is good effort from our players.
    Congratulations boys!

  • ja gor says:

    Excellent result!!!!!!

  • Jakoyo says:

Daddy was man of the match, he created both goals. good to see him play in attacking midfield position, that is where he belongs. The beef between kiongera and daddy must be fixed…………..otherwise kiongera will have to leave the club because daddy is hitting top form this season and they are both fighting for the same position

  • osumba kosumba says:

lets repeat the same during the kpl match btw we and them, congrat that’s wonderful!

  • Dan Original says:

@Jakoyo that was not a good comment. Gor needs as many good players as possible. We have to think beyond winning the league. And dressing room tranquility is also important for all of us

  • nyakogalo says:

@jakoyo plz mind ur language,do u decide who leaves the team,i thought you normally contribute positively but on this one NO !

  • oluoch says:

********Jakoyo dont always talk of what you dont know, that is the work of technical bench to make sure there is discipline within the playing unit.dont just jump into conlusions man,let the bench do their work after all you dont know what the issue was.

  • Alego tat yien says:

kiongera we love you, Daddy we love you too and indeed all kogallo players. The feud that exists between players must be dealt with professionally. These are things that are bound to happen where competing interests excist. The most important thing is how and the speed within which they are addressed. So i urge the bench to move fast and contain the situation.

  • Jamigori says:

Daddy was wrong for confronting Kiongera. This indiscipline from Daddy must be stopped immediately as Gor Mahiabis bigger than all of us. This just shows lack of maturity and Daddy must learn to behave. This is more behavior of fans but not players and this act must be condemned in equal measure.

@jakoyo, this just shows what you are and people like you ought not to have been born at all. You are a disgrace to yourself and other fans that think like you.

  • Joe Riaga says:

The team must find a way to transfer this kind of form to the league. Every year we play well in the cup lakini league wapi.
Oboya ako juu. I hope he keeps his form in the league.

  • jathur gi ji says:

Congratulations boys and please apply the same will and strength in the league.Thika now know people. On the tiff between K14 and k29 if you are a keen watcher, this has been building up for sometime especially in matches where they are both fielded.I have seen it several times and why has the technical bench not addressed it this far? I hope they will asap but it was very bad picture for the cameras.

  • dinga says:

congrats gor. that was good display. i am impressed on how gor dominated thika. i also pray that u do the same to tusker et sofapaka in future matches. Oboya was a class act. he made the other players play good. kevin is a good player but a show-off. even if he gave good passes the guy is basically imature and probably thinks he is the star of gor. confronting kiongera like that is not the way he should do things. otherwise to the gor squad in general, keep it up. and Oboya if that was a taste of things to come, i’m sure we are in for better times.

  • papamiky says:

My fellow Colleagues in Spirit, may I first give all our fans a round of applause by the continuous growth and maturity by day. Yesterday, pier winyo was sober!!!!!keep it up Bro but you’d rather drink, you looked scaringly Ugly. But we love you. You showed that… “mwanaume ni Kusota sikuzingine!!!!”
Great contribution from all players. kudos!!!!
Dan,Jamigori and Dinga, I salute your soberness when blogging. the truth is Daddy needs to grow up. I could not believe my eyes when his silly small tempers flew to a point that He even snubbed the coach. this is a big shame to the technical bench and one would wonder if at all their is a disciplinary committee at all.
my advice to the young lad is to mature up as fast as possible lest he follows Gattusso’s Path.
no footballer makes it without discipline.
I would love to see the two and him shaking hands.
Daddy, surely you owe yourself an apology.
    over to you EC.

  • nyakogalo says:

When i saw daddy refuse to shake capt:odhis hand it reminded me of anguyo in mumias and from that point he has never performed well.discipline and team work should be paramount ,where is loga to show him some sense,i was disappointed with K14.

  • Albert Kosero - Sofaset Branch Kampala says:

That was a good show. Congrats. At least we have a calm blog this week. I am happy no one is asking where Teddy Akumu, Jagoal, or so and so not having been fielded. Now we shall appreciate, that task is purely TB’s responsibility. A lot of noise has been made about Patrick Oboya. I am not hearing those loud voices any more. My plea to all who mean well for Kogallo, let us support the team unconditionally. Today we win, tommorow we lose. That is the whole idea about competition.
Chemelil is next and the focus should be directed there. I watched them play Ingwe twice and I must admit, they are very good team.
Discipline is paramount, no matter how good a player is. Action should be taken immediately to stop infighting in the team. Soon we shall have other players taking sides on K14/K29 war. EC/TB sort out this problem ASAP.

For God and my beloved club – Kogallo

  • fred odhiambo says:

just an observation away from the pitch….i thought this was a GoTv tournament, how come Gor Vs Tusker tickets for last weekend were being used for entry?or are we the beneficiaries of the gate collection here??

  • Dan Original says:

All, I hope the message has been received by all party. Leadership (captaincy, in this case) was for K14 after Dube was subbed and looks like K14 failed the leadership test no matter whether he was provoked or not. Why couldn’t Mapunda be given the captaincy in theis case. He looks sober

  • oswozo moziek says:

Captaincy or not…all professional footballers must uphold discipline regardless of status in the team. Whatever transpired between the 2 should not have been done in front of the crowd at the stadium but inside the dressing room…if it must happen!!!

Fred@18….thats my concern too.Is there some sort of collabo between FKL and Gor concerning ticketing or is this a well oiled scheme to line some peoples pockets?

  • My hats off for the convincing win. I salute all the fans who made it to watch the game as some of us( like me) we were held up somewhere else. Kudos.

Discipline works magic in football and this plain truth should be drilled into those boys’ heads. Let us not say who and who to respect who, but we should encourage these boys to love one another and be friends: it is easier to work with a friend as opposed to a perceived competitor, hence the relationship between those boys must be patched up immediately: remember the coach is the leader and his say is final: akisema Oboya ndo anaanza nay, then be it:

    Next game tunacheza na nani?!

  • OGANGO TRAILER says:

Ooh Laaa laa a a “VERY HEALTHY & STIFF COMPETITION FOR PLAYERS”

For K14 & K29 it is always evident during training and most occasionally ON /OFF the ball actions, attitude and behavior. But for those who are castigating K14, i personally do not see the difference between JAKOYO’s post and your comments. You have taken sides without internalizing the issue at stake. That is even being more STUPID than JAKOYO..!!

There is no dressing room BAD blood or serious inter personal CONFLICT between K14 & K29; But rather some mutual friendly FIRES and bitter HATRED at the same time based on the healthy competitive environment and playing time opportunities availed to them to show-case their soccer artistry and skills in GM.

OBOYA has just sounded the warning bells and am sure ,some one is going to give way as soon as yesterday match against THIKA was over. This the healthy competition am talking about and it will make others “BUST UP” to be heard loud and clear.

K14 is a creative and tricky attacking midfielder and the TB has realized that he is useful playing the role of an “IMPOSED STRIKER” thus automatically sending K 29 to the bench. His role is slowly taking shape in the play and OBOYA is part and parcel of the plan; “SIMPLY THE “FISA”ACADEMY HOME GROWN SOCCER TALENT”

When playing MUHORONI K14 did not celebrate his goal, simply because K29 failed to provide the clinical assist the same way he did to him during KARUTURI. He just pounced on the rebound off his thwarted header in the D-area.. K 29 is warming the bench because of failing to adhere to the philosophy of collective assault.

Yesterday issue originated from the initial free kick K 14 and Sserekuma played, while K29 really wanted to bang it in. But the “TWO – MASTEKERS” had their day especially after their clinical “ONE -TWO” that send the stadium in to frenzy mood.

Yesterday K 14 provided more than five killer passes but when he did expect one from K29 , he was denied in an open day-light and instead the ball was intentionally played wide to LAVATSA on the flanks..K 29 must learn and adopt to K14 new role since that is Bobby williamson Philosophy and JAKOYO has just gotten it right apart from his STUPID conclusion of asking K 29 to ship out.

Bobby Williamson has identified K14 as the engine and brain that ALL players must adjust to his style of play. Bobby williamson is not relying on LOGA ‘S wish list of players and as such for him whether your are part and parcel of AMROUCHE plans does not automatically earn you a starting line-up. The more you give Bobby Williamson room to explore the talents and skills available the more the so called former LOGA’s “UNTOUCHABLE SUPERSTARS” are finding breaking into first 11 a nightmare.

  • nyakogalo says:

@OGANGO TRAILER WHY SAY THAT SOME BLOGGERS ARE TAKING SIDES, THE FACT REMAINS THAT I SAW HIM WALK AWAY FROM HIS ASSISTANT CAPT AS THE SAME K29 LISTENED TO THE SAME ASSISTANT CAPT ODHIS,PLZ NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE, TEAM WORK IS VERY IMPORTANT,AFTERALL WE ALL WANT A WIN PERIOD, OTHERWISE TUNGEKUWA TUNALIA SANA, I USED TO HEAR FANS HALL INSULT TO THE SAME K14 AND I WOULD JUST SYMPATHIZE WITH HIM AND I BELIEVED THAT HE WOULD GAIN BACK HIS FORM AND FOR SURE HE HAS BUT IF HE CONTINUES WITH THE SHOW THEN IT WILL BE HIS DOWNFALL,LETS CALL A SPADE A SPADE NOT A BIG SPOON.

  • papa says:

Ogango. I appriciate Kevos brilliance but that will fade away if he does not develop a positive character.

  • Barefoot Bandit says:

I don’t support K14’s action, but I urge K’Ogallo fans and bloggers in particular not to rush into castigating either of the players unless they have the benefit of getting to know the grievances from both sides. Thank you The Trailer for shedding a lot of light on this simmering ‘sibling rivalry’.

  • BLOGGER says:

INGO the engineer, am not seeing your comment. Where are you?

  • ODUOR12 says:

I echo the game analysis by @2 Dan Orig. This time its quite balanced & not apologetic. We must really work on our ball control & style of play.
Y high balls 2 short strikers?
As regards K14 & K29 tiff surely these 2 should be following a GAME PLAN from the TB. There’s no room 4 personality clashes otherwise fans will be forced 2 believe that “inability 2 string even 3 passes” is deliberate.
GROW UP BOTH OF U OR SHIP OUT. HOPE TWAS A SURPRISE ON THE TB SINCE I CANT FANTHOM A WEAK TB.

  • Jamigori says:

Barefoot, your comments are regrettable. It appears hat you are supporting indiscipline which will soon mess up the career of K14. Watch this space and very soon you are going to regret of such bad behaviors after the beautiful match.

I have kept long silence due to what I perceive to be mor negative. It is tim or me to move on.

    K14 has to grow up.

  • BERNHARD BINDAR says:

Discipline and Focus is the road to success . All team players have to be respected and to respect one another .
Our roles as fans is to share positively and NOT TO ATTACK.

May our lord GOD BLESS GOR MAHIA FC.
