Gor Mahia confirms Aucho transfer fee

Gor Mahia organizing secretary Ronald Ngala has confirmed that the club has received Ksh 1.6 million (Rand 200,000) from South African side Baroka FC following the transfer of Khalid Aucho to the side.
“We received 200,000 rand (approximately Sh1.6million) for the transfer of Aucho to the club,” he said.

The figure is paltry compared to what Sofapaka got when they sold Burundian Razak Fiston: Ksh 24 million (3 million Rand. Sofapaka had previously purchased Fiston for Ksh 1.2 million from a Burundian academy. They turned a nice profit.

The low transfer fee of Aucho is due to the fact that Aucho only had six months left on his contract. However it is a welcome departure from recent cases where Gor Mahia gave players away for free. For example, when Ali Abondo left for South Africa, it was reported that the club got nothing even though Abondo had a year left on his contract.

The transfer fees also make the case for why Gor Mahia should invest more in youth structures unlike the current situation where the youth team is being treated shabbily.

First of all maestro Aucho is worth way more than that…

Secondly, 200,000 rands is not ksh 1.6m by any means…. it’s 2m… someone is out to rip from the exch rate… must we corrupt on every opportunity we get??????

    WHAT CAN KSHS.1.6M CAN DO!

That’s enough to pay 16 Gor Mahia players kshs.100,000 in a month.

or can easily be used to double the match winning bonuses at this crucial time to motivate players.

    What’s my point?

This is additional income and if proper managed GMFC can easily match the salaries paid other top clubs in East & Central Africa.
What we don’t need is the extra baggage e.g a 4th Goal Keeper, a non playing Brazilian, 2 assistant coaches a Brazilian and a Kenyan/Jaluo etc.

I sign off as usual- Its time for GMFC’s AGM to tie EC to yearly performance contracts with at least the following:

    1. Gor Mahia MUST qualify for a continental tournament,

    2. GMFC MUST reach at least the semi-final of CECAFA tournaments it participates in.

    3. GMFC MUST qualify for the group stages or 3rd round of CAF tournament
