Gor Mahia disconnect Western Stima

Kogalo earned a hard fought 1-0 win over Western Stima in a match played at the Bukhungu stadium in Katch. It was an evenly contested match with Western Stima proving to be a tough nut to crack at home in large part due to experienced ex internationals, Mark Sirengo and Ramadhan Balala.

The all important goal came in the 64th minute via Andrew Ongwae when he headed home a corner kick taken by Julius Owino.

This venue has always been a difficult one for Gor Mahia since the 60s and 70s when they played against MoW  / Motcom. Matches here usually end in a hard fought draw. This time however, Kogalo benefited from a travelling band of fans coming from Nairobi, Kisumu and its environs.

The win puts Gor Mahia back in 3rd position.

Kogalo showed in Bukhungu that their upward trajectory is by no means a fluke. It was a tactical game played per Zedy’s instructions but we must work on starving the opposition of the ball next time. There were anxious moments when we let Stima run rings around us but we showed our mettle and were never threatened. Keep up boys, we have your back to the wire. The title is ours and the Champs League is beckoning. You go boys.
To the adoring Kogalo fans, i was impressed with your turn out, the singing, the prayers, the chanting…i didnt think many of us would brave the long journey to Kach. All over the world, the fans are the 12th player and we can do our boys alot of good if we travel. Carry your clande or impress the new chick. Let’s make it a plan.

And against all odds, they didn’t disappoint, as they plunged the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega into total darkness.

Very good is an understatement.Picking even a single point from Bukhungu has never been an easy task for any team, and also Kogalo of the past. This is another era and Stima didn’t know what hit them;the real “Mahia” is on show.Sofapaka and Mathare beware. Ulinzi is certainly a walk in the park.

Bogus KPL/FKL. Why push the Gor v Ulinzi match to Wednesday 18, that means we play on 11, 18 and 22. Anyway Gor is ready for anything.
