K’Ogalo squandered a chance to stretch lead at the top of Kenyan Premier League table as they managed a draw against struggling Nakuru All Stars

Gor Mahia were held to a 1-1 draw by Nakuru All Stars in a Kenyan Premier League match played at Nyayo Stadium on Wednesday.

Despite the draw, K’Ogalo still maintained their unbeaten record and also remained on top of the log and destined to another league title this season. Gor Mahia coach Frank Nuttall, who returned to the dug outs after missing the match against Nairobi City Stars, blamed his charges for a slow start.

“We started poorly in this match and despite going ahead…we never looked aggressive going forward. All Stars also gave their best and deserved a point in this fixture.”

Josephat Oyugi broke the deadlock in the first minute when his unsuccessful clearance attempt ended with the defender planting the ball into his own net by trying to thwart Michael Olunga’s efforts at the goal. Second half substitute , who had come in for Titus Achesa, scored leveller with a bicycle-kick in the 69th minute for a share of the spoils.

The on fire Olunga’s bid of doubling the score in the 23rd minute had his rasping shot deflected off for a corner after good tee up from George Odhiambo. Karim Nizigiyimana and Enock Agwanda were forced to see their chances go to waste late on in the half for Gor Mahia to lead 1-0 at the break.

the sinking Stars were at the end of a 5 goal hammering by Gor Mahia in the first leg and returned to the same venue where they threw away a three goal lead last Friday to draw 3-3 with Sofapaka. Cash strapped Nakuru All Stars borrowed a leaf from Muhoroni Youth, who have twice relocated their home matches to Nairobi in order to cash in on the diehard Gor Mahia city supporters.

The game was initially scheduled for Afraha Stadium in Nakuru, the home of Nakuru All Stars before maverick Nakuru chairman Robert Muthomi fell for the allure of six digit figures from gate collections.

Gor has found a combination and team for loosing a match or matches. Only Agwanda played well with his throws

That performance was dubious and lackluster
    .
Midfield dead without aucho defense dead without shakava forward dead without meddy.
    Afc next.
Let them not force abandonment is they soak 4
Let Gor also know unbeaten record can end.

Hope Gor will inflict max pain on omejo

Small Nakuru teams have always been a pain in Gor’s history. Always beating Gor when they are at their best.

Why am I so comfortable with the result? We have been winning for so long,it bores! Against Ingwe that’s a different story since since our shemejis will face us as Gor in the first half then meet Mahia in the second half!

Good result, that Nakuru something is serious, the sad thing is that they are getting their tune too late as they will still go down.
Can some one bring me that little master John Ndirangu to Kogalo.
Efusi shemeji, poleni sana you must answer for those two points lost yesterday.

  • I dont understand this mantra that gor mahia needs to win 3 more games and the league is over….what makes you think Ulinzi will win all the remaining 7 matches ! no team in the kenyan league has won seven consecutive matches.

Back to my point, if gor mahia beats AFC leopards this weekend, the league is AS GOOD AS OVER !!!

Ooh Laa la..!!! ” IT IS NOT YET OVER UNTIL IT IS OVER…11 POINTS TO GO AND WE ARE HOME AND DRY”

@jakoyo please be realistic like the previous season as we remain optimistic that Gor Mahia needs to attain 66 points at the moment to achieve an assailable position 1, so that even if ULINZI were to win the remaining seven matches the maximum they can gather is 44+21=65 points. By the time we play AFC and later on SoNy on Wednesday then ULINZI will have one match at hand and that is why good performance against the next three matches including BANDARI on the 29//08/2015 will determine the fate of KPL 2015 Championship.

  • @Jakoyo, its all abt the mathematical possibilities. If Ulinzi win all their remaining matches and that includes beating Gor they can amass a max of 65 pts. Gor currently need 10pts to surpass that mark which in essence is 3wins. Back to th log n fixtures Gors nxt 2 matches r against omejo n bandari hopefully we can get the max six pts. Ulinzis nxt matches r against w. Stima n sofapaka. They drop any pt in these matches n come 12:09:15 they will prepare a guard of honour to the champs. How beautiful to have a guard of honor prepared for us by the soldiers themselves.

@ayub, that is wishful thinking that ULINZI fighting spirit will just let the KPL 2015 title go in a freelance fashion without putting a brave fight.
As a matter of fact even GOR would wish to keep the unbeaten record intact while they derail the championship crowning moment till late in September or early October because they depend on gate collection; cause once the earn the title then expect gate collection from stadium attendance to be very low.

That is why NUTTAL is Ok with a draw against ALLSTARS as a HOME-TEAM as he aims his sword to AFC derby and wont mind a draw against BANDARI which will not be a walk in the park.

Expect ULINZI to close this gap to less than 10 points since GOR will still draw some matches due to burnout of first team players and then we have some dramatic end to our third consecutive title.
Whether UNBEATEN OR NOT I CAN NOT TELL. But KPL 2014 will be declared either end of SEP or early OCT. GOR VS SONY at CITY stadium will be the fateful day. BE PATIENT.

NOT SoNy on 23/09/205 but GOR Vs W/STIMA on 27/09/2015………….. THAT IS MY PREDICTION

looking at this table, if AFC beat Gor, our lead will be cut to 12 points. two draws after that lead can be down to only 8 points.

Who says we are champions 2015? be ready for anxious moments.

Won’t Ulinzi also experience burn-out? Remember they play a game after every other day. Then when they come back they will have a backlog and I can assure you that they will not win all of them, just like Gor won’t win al their matches. By the time we win the league we will have created a gap of between 8 and 11 points.
The problem is that after that the gap will reduce but we will already be champions

What I would like is a clean season without any loss. That would be something of a motivator to all team even is the title will have been won earlier. Lets not repeat that thing against KCB in 2013 when the beat us clean but after we had won the title.

Sunday lets come and set another record sh 10m plus. We are Kogalo, aren’t we? BY DEEDS.
