Courtesy of futaa.com

After handing perennial rivals AFC Leopards a  2-1 defeat in their Saturday 17 November FKF Cup match, Gor Mahia have qualified for the finals of the tournament, where they are set to meet the winner in the match between Tusker and Sofapaka FC, set for play on Sunday 18.

The match kicked off with each side riding the ball towards the other’s dock. However, it was Gor who were first to score, after a fast break by Edwin Lavatsa, who had come in as a ninth minute substitute for Dan Sserunkuma ended with Kevin Omondi sending the ball into the back of the net.

The teams went into the half time break with the Gor Mahia leading 1-0, but with AFC bearing the better ball possession of 57% against 43%.

Second half

Seven minutes into the second half, Joseph Njuguna sent a brilliant shot into the box, finding captain Moses Odhiambo in a shooting position. Odhiambo then sent it into the net as AFC appealed for an offside call, which was not awarded.

Consolation

With ten minutes to the final whistle, Charles Okwemba, found a good ball in the box, which he aptly drove into the net

The match ended with Gor bearing a one-goal advantage over AFC.

En the semifinals, Gor edged out Borabu Chiefs, and Muhoroni Youth.

    3 thngs; odhis, logarusic, fans.
    1. i have often critised odhis for mannerisms i found to be negative to football, but the last two matches this guy has changed. against thika i mentioned he played well but ya jana you really showed class.
    2. logar: i now came to see what i have been waiting for. i saw the football sparkle yesterday. gor played one of the most mature games. the passing was finally clicking and the pattern was clearly evident. the goals were defence splitters(including the other ‘two’)afc seemed more interested in breaking legs. this rough tactic has been employed by other teams especially ulinzi and tusker. but tusker evedently dropped this ‘lets provoke gor football’. gor was just in too good a form to fall into such traps. i hope afc u learned ur lesson, concentrate on scoring. i hope tusker wins tomorrow coz i am now finally seeing the gor i wanted to c. can’t wait.
    3. fans: gor fans(hooligans branch) had really made me feel repulsive to the club. i know the club (players) are innocent but coz of hooligans i was wishing gor would be thrushed. but i saw something interesting yesterday.(i was on sofa-set channel) a branch of fans had a banner clearly warning the hooligan branch. somethng like ‘…hooligans if we catch you…u have been warned’. it warn me over again, but EC pls wake up and do smthng about this issue. merely claiming these are not gor fans in front of the press yet their pictures are all over the press does not hold for me. these ppl come in gor shirts, if they r not true fans then they have to be snuffed out.many branches come to gor matches in groups, these mayhem squad(s) is clearly a group. look at it this way, if everytime u hold a party in ur hse, there is always a fight in the estate(not in ur hse) then r u responsible for the mayhem? so if gor was not responsible for the hooligans, why accept the order by fkf to play in kasarani. EC why did u accept yet ur ‘innocent’?

Ooh La laaa…….!!! Dinga why are u still so yesterday regarding hooliganism. You seem to be very interesting my friend. Anyway in this blogpost every body is entitled to his own opinion.
@ Dinga GOR MAHIA belong to people from all walks of life including the “FLY OVER” branch along JOGOO RD and the “TEN PERCENT” crew over the top of LUSAKA RD over pass.
@ Dinga “TOK KOMWANDA” is just nothing but a butcher in KALOLENI that belongs to OMWANDA just like K’Ogalo is the grandson of OGALO. That is what GOR is in simple words my friend. GOR wuod OGADA; OGADA wuod OGALO.

You can not hold the GOR MAHIA fraternity to be responsible for skirmishes that take place in Eastlands 2 hours after the final whistle. When GOR causes skirmishes it is always
a spontaneous reaction that takes place unanimously while being driven with the zeal and zest to stop at nothing while demanding for fair play.

We are entering the final stretch for next electioneering period and at any given moment be informed my friend that you are yet see real politics being played in a bare knuckle style.

But GOR MAHIA traverses the land mines in human nature and as such there is no barrier with respect to tribe, colour, racial,political,social,gender,demographic,geo-political affiliation,
or originality. We as truly GOR fans we care much for property and sanctity of human life.

Hooliganism is a creation of the media owners and the existing political establishments at the moment depending on the prevailing socio- political circumstances and challenges.

And that is why Barry was handed another four more years despite harsh political environment. So @Dinga keep GOR away from political theatric that you no very little about my friend. This is SIASA ya “NAIROBI” and to be precise EASTLANDS.

How on earth can GOR Fans be ferried by Mini buses back to the “TOK MWANDA” two hours after the final whistle. since I started associating myself with K’Ogalo I have
witnessed close to all fracas involving GOR including the very famous one like when it was GOR Vs Kahawa canons( soldiers) GOR Vs ABALUHYA, later on GOR Vs ULINZI and
GOR Vs AFC and on all occasions it is either before, during or immediately after the match.

@Dinga on this particular one you do not rocket science intelligence to determine the truth.

Thanks O’trailer. These people have crowded my ears with this hooli nonsense even when facts speak for themselves. True fans know there ‘s bhangi which we’re brainstorming over and spontaneous riots occassioned by perceived dishonest, these will be stampted out with enforcement of kenyan laws and fan education. But organised crime like that of the 10th nov is for the state! Only a pathetic ec would take responsibility for such treachery for whatever reason peace or otherwise its wrong. Someone tell me where are playing the final and at what time?

Can the FKF be fair please. Gor played yesterday. Tusker/SofaPaka are playing today. Final is on Tuesday. One day after Tusker/Sofa game and two days after Gor/AFC game. Players are exhausted. A good bulk have been selected to join Harambee Stars for the CECAFA which begins on Saturday. Our players need time with family and friends too.

A sugeestion, why cant the final be played after the CECAFA?

    FKF–Over to you!!!

Fellow bloggers, what is your point?

Efusi players lost the match the moment they decided to focus on Ivo Mapunda’s towel. I didn’t know that such backward ideas can still find a place in modern day football. Two Efusi players were notable for this repeated assault on Mapunda’s towel…and you know them: the ever temperamental Jimmy Bageya and Victor Ochieng’. Shame. The third one even went as far as wiping his face with the same towel soon after Mapunda had done the same! If that was meant to sharpen his vision and read into Mapunda’s mind then it failed miserably.

@ogango; what do you know about the hooligans branch that some of us are ignorant about. merely claiming that there are thngs happening does not make you knowledgable. i have said that the bigger part of gor fans are innocent but there is a grp of ppl(in gor shirts) making mayhem. so ppl like you know so much yet gor is still suffering! my agrument is that gor will suffer st the end of the day wether these hooligans are genuine gor supporters or not. so far apart from claims there is no proof that they are not gor supporters. why don’t you enlighten us about this EASTLANDS politics.
gor mahia needs money and the more fans go to the stadia the better. decisions affecting gor home matches will affect the club financialy. clearly evident that the sato match was not well attended. talk about this problem and end this hooligans life NOW! which media houses have created this, nation, standard,BBC??
NB:there was a shark attack(tourists) on egyptian waters and the governor concerned blamed the israeli mossad for sending the sharks.

  • Guys, Now we face Sofapaka on Tuesday and not Tusker. That means we are not guaranteed of a slot in CAF cup next year unless we win which would have been automatic had Tusker won this match.
This means it’s going to be tough , what with all the injuries during the AF game.

Anyway, let’s hope for the best

@Dinga before i can respond to your post please i want you to tell me if a cattle rustler happen to be spoted wearing a K’Ogalo jersey and labeled TUZO the official sponsors brand in the now famous Baragoi in suguta’s valley of death will GOR MAHIA take responsibility for the security lapses that led to the killings or the government of Kenya?

What you are being ignorant about my friend is that GOR MAHIA as a brand of it’s own has enemies within and without the club. Did you not witness the miguna debacle with the “DESTROYER” gentleman in Mombasa being aired and published continuously for three days. Is K’Ogalo responsible for those barbaric acts?

@Dinga some of this issue’s requires analytical approach and some thorough scrutiny of the issue at stake , instead of engaging GOR MAHIA with unfounded and controversial debate that will only end up taking us in a vicious circle. @ Dinga please sober up and recall that before we played THIKA , our EC was under pressure to change the venue to KASARANI due to “Intelligence report” that TOK KOMWANDA was a huge risk.

To everybody’s surprise the turn out was great and there was no security issue that even be it SS,FKF or TUZO can attest that our EC failed to provide before, during and immediately after the match. Everybody was peaceful although sad be it the ADIDAS or LEGEA branded jerseys and it does not matter which brand you subscribe to as still GOR MAHIA remains the subject.matter.

@Dinga read my post a fresh and note that I talked about media owners and not media house. So jog your mind a bit to know who owns which media house and anyze the way GOR MAHIA stories are done in bad taste. Am in the fourth estate and I know what am talking about.

Eastlands is for Eastlanders and they call themselves “WA SA GWENYA” this is the sheng name for “Political gangs for hire” the hotbed for goon and they are plenty starting from
KALOLENI,makongeni, shaurimoyo, majengo, mbotela, bahati,Jericho, makadara, maringo and Jerusalem all estates within Eastlanders of NAIROBI city.

If your guess is as good as mine. Then you need to add one plus to get two buy simply analyzing the timings of the skirmishes on the very day , slow response from security personnel within the “TOK KOMWANDA” percints and conclude that it was a case of bare knuckle political and thuggery approach to intertwine and drug the name of the greatest of all time in the history of a certain community and a certain political aspirant in bad faith.

@ O. Trailer that is well put and I think this Dinga sholud just relax and pray, since EC will not just police everybody donning our brand even in the own domestic homes yawa!

@Dan I hate people who look for freebies and then celebrate like winners. Is it not this very same SOFAPAKA that we beat last year to lift the trophy. Which injuries are you worried about and we have enough depth to cover for them. Stop sounding defeatist as if we were relying on TUSKER to get the slot on a silver plate. This is our chance to prove that we are champions ready for anybody locally, regionally and continental. Go go GOR MAHIA.!!!M

theories shud make sense. are they gor haters or is it politics? is gor contesting in 2012? EC can only educate it’s fans against hooliganism, nobody is asking ec to be the police and wearing an arsenal shirt does not mean arsenal is responsible… but then, as being suggested, the sharks were truly sent by the mossad.

1.On my previous post I had mentioned that Rasta,Kevin, Love-A-Star and Abondo should step up their game if K’galo was to move to the next level.I am elated that against Efusi- Kevin and Rasta scored and Lavasta provided a killer pass.We need this diversity/ creativity more often.
2.Best Example of RUNNING AND THINKING AT THE SAME TIME- Njuguna’s combination with Rasta for the 2nd goal. Efusi were totally bewildered.
3.James Nandwa taking Harambee stars to CECAFA while Michel earning a cool 4m per sits back.Since its a 2week tournament will Nandwa be paid 2M. FKF/ Nyamweya where’s the logic. Sorry wrong question!!!!

Whoever is supporting a case for hooligans in this blog is simply giving us another side of his. I support @dinga on his views and I maintain my call to price these people out of the stadium. Once outside the stadium, they can cause all the mayhem they wish but it will be so easy to delink them from the true fans in the stadium. And all authorities will find it easy to lift all potential bans on Kogalo, just as FKF, SS lifted bans on Kogalo earlier in the week. We must push hooligans out of the sport if we are to realise the true value of football as a source of employment. Cities like Manchester and Liverpool, previously coal mining cities, would struggle without football in modern times. That’s why the FA and the British Government will do anything to support football in those parts of England. The number of people directly or indirectly employed through football here is mind boggling. We can realise the same right here in Kenya. Can you imagine football employing circa 300k people, including some of those hooligans directly or indirectly? We can achieve it. Lets stamp away hooligans by whatever means!!

Pod Antie you are so right infact 200% right by your statement “That’s why the FA and the British Government will do anything to support football in those parts of England.” And thats what fellow bloggers are telling u the same applies for Kenya. Even if the EC has not come out strongly against it, even if you charge 1m for a K’galo game nothing will change until arrests, prosecutions and convictions are done! And those are state functions but then again maybe those in Gova 4get that GOR SIRKAL is only football oriented.

  • we need to prepare well due to the short rest period before the finals:
    1) the players should have light training tomorrow mostly on tactics
    2) paka are a bit physical so we must play more of possession( watch the video between them and KCB)
    3) we should not put undue pressure on the players to win let them know we shall respect the results whatever the out come ! the pressure against thika united was too much for the players coupled with an incompetent and partisan referee ! all the best KOGALLO

  • KEEP POLITICS OUT OF THIS SITE

There is no denying the fact RAO enjoys near fanatical following amongst Gor Mahia supporters. Reason? Your guess is as good as mine.

The main objective of this site is to act as forum where fans meet and exchange ideas, make brief comments about their team and above all chart the future of their beloved club by participating in the Annual General Meeting.

RAO is also an ardent football fan. I have seen him several times on the stadium watching teams in the TPL. I have also seen him making personal contributions to several clubs and the national team, Harambee Stars. RAO understands the challenging the youth and is why he has appointed a youthful MP to head the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

I know Kenyans like politics. Gor Mahia is not RAO and vice versa. The recent violent activities after the GM vs Thika United cannot be used in anyway to tarnish the good name of the Hon. Prime Minister of the republic of Kenya.

It is not a secret. I am a great fan of PM, RAO. Infact and perhaps I have one of the biggest collections of his speeches and newpaper cuttings of life and times. I admire his style of politics. I envy his business acumen ( read Spectre international ), I am proud of his private and public life, his personal and professional intergrity notwithstanding. I appreciate the role he played during Kenya’s second liberation and now, the third and final liberation. I believe he is the only one who is courageous enough to implement fully the provisions in the constitution.

Having said all these, politics should not obscure us from meeting the objectives set out on this site. gormahia.net should be free from politics and urge bloggers to adhere to the objects of the site.

  • @Okoth Jabilo, I hope you watched the derby. If you did you will notice that most of our players were limping due to Ingwe’s physical game. In fact Musa finished the game on the touchline. And players being human and after such a physical game they need at least a week to recover from soft tissue injuries. On depth even the tech bench knows that we are ot well covered there.
The issue is that Sofapaka has more experienced players than us but as Gor we have something that drives us and makes us win even where we were written off. Ingwe can testify to that.
Our coach also has a way of bringing the best out of our players.
Daddy should be included in one of those HS squads. The boy has just become too good.
All the same I can’t wait for us to bag that FKF trophy and see us proceed next year in the CAF cup.
We said O.G.A.T. Now it is that last game of the year 2012 and we should sign off with a win so that the boys can earn that well-deserved rest.

@pod Antie et @oduor12: good understanding of the situation.
so back to gor futi; i was hoping tusker would win. lakini sofapaka won and thats still ok. the refs also disppointed, playing without checking the nets. that goes to the sato refs too, wake up! i thnk sofapaka will get a proper hiding if what i saw happen to leopards is anythng to go by. i was really impressed by the team. gor needs to guard against two things.
    1. physical play: this is mostly the ulinzi, tusker et afc mode of play. it is done to provoke the gor players or fans.
    2. the THIKA et others play. gor should avoid falling behind. i have commented before that loga needs to come with a style to open up defences after falling behind. these teams after scoring a goal will perfect their frastration play. knowing very well that some ‘fans’ become very impatient and start calling the gor players names, which in turn stresses the players and brings in wasiwasi mode play.

Anguyo on the right ringing crosses ceaselessly; Wekesa was upfront as Dube covered for him, Akumu was sterling at the back, all alone as Owino added force infront. They were swarmed all over from all corners, it is only unfortunate that the goals didn’t come. Thats all water under the bridge but thats the way an intelligent coach can change a game.

My only worry is the injuries to Dan,Nasio, Wekesa and Musa

History will repeat itself tomorrow when Gor Mahia meet again Sofapaka during the final of the president’s cup.

The defending champions, Gor Mahia obviously will be under immense pressure from the seemingly overzealous supporters. It is upto the coach to counsel the boys to go into the relaxed and enjoy the game just like all the other past league matches.

Comrade Jb on his post above is suggesting to be more Gor Mahia than the rest of us. And no one is even labelling him a hooligan. Let us all learn to cultivate a spiritof inclusiveness regardless of tribe, religion or social status.

What you’re feeling, i am feeling it too. The chaotic scenes witnessed during the Gor Mahia vs Thika united league match final is a stain on collective conscience. It is agonising to continue loosing fans through senseless acts of hooliganism.

Finally may i take this early opportunity to K’Ogallo all the best of luck. You have done it last year and no one can stop you tomorrow. Go go go Gor !

@Pareyio I beg to support comrade JB post above. It is human to accept that we had higher expectations that turned out to be pain and sorrow and so is the feeling of @Jb or jabbes. It is like an expectant lady losing her infant at labour ward prior to maternity.

And yes this blanket condemnation of K’Ogalo as hooligans is there to stay because the few of us who are so myopic in reasoning and can not evaluate the truth behind the hired goons that were causing havoc along jogoo road was a smart and well orchestrated political thuggery.

Some of us are behaving on this blogpost like some angels from the utopian universe , and they are suffering from K’Ogalo phobia. Asking EC to do the impossible. Let police arrest hooligans. Since when did hooliganism take two hours break after the final whistle if it involves GOR MAHIA. You have eyes and ears , but K’Ogalo phobia has turned people blind and deaf. Yes Hooligans go fill up the stadium and sing louder at TJ monument.
