Gor Mahia edge Chemelil 1-0

Scorer: Eliud Lokuwam

Gor Mahia moved closer to the 2018 Kenya Premier league title with a crucial 1-0 win over Chemelil Sugar at Afraha. The all important goal came in the 77th minute via Eliud Lokuwam.

Additional reporting from futaa.com
Both sides started the game in an unsettled rush. In the 7th minute, Chemelil won a throw-in after Karim Nzigiyimana sent the ball off the field of play. The throw in did not amount to much. Just a minute later, the game had to be halted as Gor Mahia stopper Shaban Odhoji had a bloody injury that forced the Gor Mahia medical team to get on the pitch and address the matter.

Chances

In the 12th minute, Lawrence Juma found Guikan with a neat pass but Guikan’s attempt was blocked by Aimo. Ondiek attempted to pounce back a rebound but his attempt was parried off for a corner. Gor Mahia won a free-kick in the 24th minute. Lawrence Juma took it but Chemelil’s keeper Aimo comfortably saved it. Gor found themselves in an uncomfortable pickle when Chemelil mounted a counter-attack led by Omondi. Chemelil’s gameplay appeared to be that of sitting back and attempting to punish Gor Mahia on the counter.

Solid Chemelil defense

Chemelil’s defense remained solid even as Gor Mahia continued to surge forward with evidently, more of the ball possession.

Lawrence Juma made a good cross to find Guikan in the area but the resultant header went wide for a free kick. The first yellow card of the game given to Gor Mahia’s Karim Nzigiyimana after fouling Kityo Bliss while attempting to make a clearance in 36th minute.

Game halted/Guikan injury

A mid-air collision between Guikan and Chemelil goalkeeper Richard Aimo in the 39th minute forced the game to be halted for both players to get treated. Ephrem Guikan’s injury proved match-ending as he had to be stretchered off the pitch and taken straight to the ambulance in the 43rd minute.

In the 56th minute, a free kick was given to Gor Mahia. It was taken by Kevin Omondi but he sent it wide.

Lokuwam goal

Gor Mahia’s lone goal came from super sub Eliud Lokuwam after a miscommunication from the Chemelil defenders. Lokuwam pounced on the loose ball and sent it in.

The win takes Gor Mahia to 65 points as they inch closer to the title.

  • What a team? And a very unlikely scorer. Thanks Kerr for conjuring victory without Oluoch, Shakava, Philemon, Joash, Kahata, Wendo, Tuyisenge, BlackBerry, Walusimbi, Mieno and Wellington. Let them rest for more crucial matches ahead of us like Rayon, Everton and Waarabu.
I’m not surprised to hear that it was a hard fought win, given the selection of the match day squad. Let’s hope Guikan’s injury is short term.

  • Congrats Mayienga. Sit Kerr dont complain of display now my good friend let us just grind hard fought routine wins with team c as we are tired and everyone plotting our downfall through fixture congestion. Better display preserve for Caf but locally let us employ powerplay for 3 points in each game kaka seche dhii

  • A hard fought win , in a scathing heat and a scrappy and bumpy pitch and for which the most important thing is the win no matter how it came about .
Secondly , I was very very impressed by the attitude and aptitude of Lokuwam and Asudi , these two youngsters are real football thinkers and I long to see how they would line up along another thinker like Kahata and a fully and mentally fit k14 .
Great result and a good decision to rest the Rayon game team , looking forward to a blissful sunday as we set our sights further to more glory on the continental scene .
    God Bless.

The entire first eleven was rested today and we still managed to get three points, congrats Kerr.

  • KPL did everything possible to derail Gor’s quest for the trophy but the plans are crumbling. Fixture congestion while knowing well enough that this team has international duties to attend to. Teams like Chemelil had a fortnight’s rest before meeting Kogallo team C but still got beaten.
Even with the rumours/realities of player tapping, the team is still grinding results.

Congrats to team kubwa. Its really sweet to win even with our team c, for today’s was not even our team b.

@Jambitatiny, I beg to defer with you on blaming KPL for fixture congestion alluding that it was KPL’s plan to derail Kogalo’s quest for the title. The last time I checked, the fixtures were compressed to pave way for a change of calender in line with a directive from CAF. This season has to end by early October and the new season 2018/2019 must begin in November this year and end by June next year. All KPL teams had their fixtures reviewed and compressed. We are feeling it more at kogallo because we are also participating in the other competitions. Now that’s not because someone hates us but its simply because we were the champions in the previous season. So if you ask me…..WE ARE A VICTIM OF OUR OWN SUCCESS.

Who is Frederick Onyango? Is Jerry Jagoal back?
And I never heard of Rapheal Asudi

    Reply
    • Fredrick Odhiambo a.k.a Peter Odhiambo NOT Onyango is a goalkeeper we signed from Mathare. Must be a typo by the admin. Asudi is one of the three youngsters signed at the beginning of the season alongside Okiro and Lokuwam. I think i read once he is from our Youth Team

@Joe Riaga, Raphael Asudi is a left footed player who joined in January. He features more in FKF cup matches, but could be better with regular fielding.

I differ with Ker when he says that the Chemical GK was good. That guy should be rotting in jail for maliciously driving his flexed knee into Guikan’ ribs. Because of his malice we are now short of firepower against Rayon Sports on Sunday.

@ BB, this is Africa, we thrirve on kickbacks and side deals, thats how the game is unfortunately……….meanwhile, news breaking is that Amakhosi have provincially accepted the kshs 10 million offer for walusimbi. EC has been pushing for the deal to be closed by latest sunday so that the downpayment can cater for CAF CC match on sunday.

    More to follow………….

    • Jakoyo…. Walusimbi’s illegal transfer cash to cater for what which you keep repeating here?We have 27M Caf qualification money which Aduda confirmed having used 50% for the games played so far. So where is 13.5M?Or if Walusimbi tapping didn’t take place we would not honour the remaining two fixtures remaining? Why are you psychologically preparing people for the looming inadvertent stealing of Walusimbi’s transfer cash by EC through alluding to it being urgently required for the remaining games so we don’t ask where it went when we are demanding accountability?Jakoyo what motive does EC have in selling Walusimbi instead of rejecting that disrespectful Amakhosi offer and reporting them to Fifa for player tapping?

      • The corrupt will tell you anything to justify their actions. Well it seems that this theft occured so that Gor could honor their remaining CC Caf matches.

Gor Mahia and Kaizer Chiefs reach deal for the signature of Godfrey Walusimbi
    Dennis Mabuka
    Goal Kenya.

The Ugandan star has been a key player for Gor Mahia especially this season, where they are taking part in Caf Confederation Cup

Gor Mahia defender Godfrey Walusimbi has played his last match for the club.

This is after the Kenyan champions confirmed on Friday that they have reached an agreement with South African side Kaizer Chiefs to sale the player.

Chiefs are said to have picked on the impressive Walusimbi to help strengthen their leaking defence. Walusimbi has been a key player for Gor Mahia especially this campaign, where K’Ogalo are taking part in the Caf Confederation Cup.

And K’Ogalo have confirmed on their twitter account that an agreement has been struck between the two teams that will see Walusimbi join Kaizer Chiefs. Walusimbi was still having a one and half year contract, but Chiefs have paid off the same.

His last game for the Kenyan champions was the 2-1 defeat to Bandari…

  • I just watched less than two hours ago an interview between Dylan kerr and the corporate affairs manager of KC on soccer africa-dstv and until then their was no agreement in place and that talks would continue with an agreement hopefully reached in the next few days I.e according to the KC man and yet here at home the EC is waxing lyrical about an agreement -and you will notice that the “official” statements talks about an agreement but
figures are omitted , instead the floating of figures is left to shadowy sychophants and like I said before , to prepare the fraternity for an impending ripoff .
Why is Gor, after being raped , negotiating with the rapist on the rapist’s terms , and why is Gor behaving like a hostage falling in love with his kidnapper/rapist ?, what is this mad ans urgent rush to conclude what is in essense an illegality , is somebody trying to conclude before something embarrasing leaks out ? , Aren’t we the ones holding the aces on this ? .
Finally that issue of 10m is fake news , the breakdowns of a ati a fine of 3million is fak e news ( who imposed the fine when caf have not been notified of any illegality) , somebody is merely conjuring up fake figures in order to arrive at 10million and the whole script from the EC and/with their online bootlickers is plain rubbish and as a club we have simply lost it .
As a club, our growth as an institution is being crippled and like dwarfs , the level we are seems to be our destiny .
Next year it will be more of the same , andthe year after that and after that-this EC have reached the end of their Intelligence

  • I have watched on this forum as bloggers cursed Walusimbi and Kaiser Chiefs management for poaching their player. So what were you cursing?
To start with, does someone here still believe that Walu “sneaked” out of Kenya as was earlier alleged?
Does someone believe that the EC will report the issue to FIFA as was being advised by some fans here who were kept in the dark concerning the entire Tom and Jerry episode?
Never come out bare knuckles against this corrupt Kogalo EC who have pocketed millions in bribes and are now reporting that Walu will be sold at 7m.
All around us the corrupt go unpunished while fake news get circulated to the public ears. Who got jailed for NYS, MoH, KPC, illegal sale of Mau land, contraband sugar, grabbed riparians and Eurobond?
This Kogallo EC has used us as dogs who bark on this site while casting out demons which the EC themselves are nourishing.
It’s the last time my brain is being used as a toy on this forum, mosuru.

We never seem to learn from the rider that cheap is expensive. Our penchant for freebies or cheap things is what makes members of Gor Mahia EC openly fall over each other to now apeace or please Kaizer Chiefs. Why else would the EC sell Walusimbi in the black market? As has been correctly pointed out by other bloggers, these guys have smelt a windfall. Another opportunity to reap through corrupt deals has presented itself and one would be daft to let it go.

Were people thinking right, then Gor Mahia has three morally acceptable, ethical and legal options out of this Walusimbi saga:
    1. Avoid selling Walusimbi at black market price, get the talks done transparently and earn the KES 21 million he is worth.
    2. Report Walusimbi to FIFA and let him face a ban so as to teach others a lesson.
    3. Report Kaizer Chiefs and Walusimbi’s agent to FIFA, and let justice take its course.

It really saddens me when I see ardent fighters like Jambitatiny despairing and throwing in the towel. In a way it says that bad has prevailed over good; we have lost the morality, transparency and ethics fight to the milkmen and with that ‘Jo-blek’ will continue looting without looking behind their shoulders.

    Breaking News:
    KENNETH MUGUNA BACK IN GM

However, Goal understands that after the player went through tough times that included lack of salary, the former Western Stima midfielder has decided to end his stay in Albania.

Gor Mahia official Judith Nyangi has told Goal that the club has handed Muguna a four-year deal. “Muguna has signed a four-year contract and is back at Gor Mahia. He returned home and since he is unattached, we have decided to give him another chance to play for us.”

  • Gor Mahia EC needs to be get it’s act together. You cannot succeed in Africa if one of you tactics is corruption. This club is mistreating players by delay payments and outright milking of players.
As match as I bashed players like Collins Okoth for indiscipline one thing stood out in him, ‘you do not mess with my money attitude.’ This got him in bad books with officials. One is when he missed breakfast during a foreign trip. Gor players are a silent lot but all has not been ok. Kagere et Walusimbi quit bcause of poor money relationship with EC. The patron continues to support this EC but purely out of politics agenda. The player grievances have continually been wiped under the carpet. It is now evident how this leadership has extended it’s tentacles. We have seen in this page those we now know as the EC Homeguards, come out strongly in support of these corrupt practices. They have tried to present the Walumsimbi scum as a clean deal.
Gor EC has to choose between Africa and Kenya. In Kenya these corrupt practices can continue unabated but in the Africa scene forget!! It will never work. So EC and your homeguards, continue to line your pockets with the players sweat but surely your days are numbered.
