Gor Mahia edge Finlays

Gor Mahia sailed past Finlays of Naivasha in an FKL match played at the Karuturi sports ground at Naivasha. The team played without a number of regulars who are away with the national team. How they agreed to do this is amazing as the results could easily have gone south.

Finlays had taken the lead in the 1st minute but the goal was disallowed for offside. It was a second half strike by defender Chris Wekesa that gave Kogalo the win. The goal came from a Moses Odhiambo assist. The match saw the happy return of Duncan Owiti Macheda who came on in the second half to replace Demonde Selenga.

Kogalo are now in the semis where they will face either Congo United or arch rivals AFC Leopards. In normal circumstances, fans would see an encounter with Ingwe as a chance for revenge. But with the club in dissaray and no concrete steps being taken to right the ship, most fans might not be looking forrward to another encounter unless they start to see some improvements. Still, the FKL cup now represents the only chance Kogalo has to play continental football so fans will be hoping for the best.

I congratulate the boys for the win against Finlay of Naivasha.

This sweet victory comes hot on the heels of a dissapointing defeat of GM by our perennial rivals, the AFC Leopards. The sole goal is enough to secure K’Ogalo a birthe in the last 8 of the FKL cup.

This cup is again likely to ignite the rivalry between the two club when they meet in the semis.

Finally , the prerogative to hire or fire the coach rests with the EC. I thank the officials and the players standing with the coach. The last minute can save a man, they say. Let us therefore not squander this crucial moment by engaging ourselvesi sideshows. Leave Zico alone.

good for motivating the players and bringing back the much-needed self-belief which has been missing.lets focus on this fkl cup, atleast this is our only hope of silverware and a chance to play continental soccer and also to attract the best players.

Am old enough in football and i have never heard of a sconerio where a coach goes on leave when the season is on, for heavens sake, zico should leave the club alone and follow his heart, i know his heart is with the national team, please leave.
