Gor Mahia edge SoNy Sugar

Gor Mahia continued with their superb performance in the 2018 Kenya Premier League when they beat SoNy Sugar 1-0 at Moi stadium Kisumu on Friday

Additional reporting from futaa.com

Gor Mahia has defeated Sony Sugar 1-0 at Moi Stadium, Kisumu to go fifteen points clear at the top of the league table.

A good combination between Francis Kahata and Jacques Tuyisenge saw the later power Gor Mahia ahead in the 50th minute. Tuyisenge had missed a fabulous chance to score the first goal of the match in the 47th minute when he fumbled the ball from Walusimbi inside the box.

Enock Agwanda’s surge was stopped in the 35th minute when Shaban Odhoji left his line to intercept the former Gor forward. Sony felt that the keeper had handled the ball outside his box and demanded that Odhoji be penalized for that. He was only given a yellow card and that irked Sony’s bench. Patrick Odhiambo, Sony’s coach is allegedly said to have uttered unpleasant words to the fourth official. The center referee was notified and he reacted by sending Odhiambo to the stands. He reversed his judgment almost a minute later and the coach came down to the touchline once more.

Collins Netto was denied by the posts when he sent a fierce shot outside the box in the 46th minute. His ambitious long range was the first real chance inside the second stanza.

Sony looked rejuvenated inside the last five minutes of regular time and Odhoji denying Agwanda twice. Dylan Kerr responded to Sony’s pressure by introducing Humphrey Mieno in place of Philemon Oteino.

Tuyisenge’s goal has made him the club’s top scorer for now with ten goals, two more than Meddie Kagere who has left to join Simba of Tanzania.

Personal i think the league is now wrapped up and packed in the bag as clearly our wins continue unabated inspite of our internal shortcomings ! great work boys thats the 1980’s spirit.

Just out of curiosity, did the just signed burundi striker undergo any medicals ? and was he signed as a free agent or what was his situation………..as usual in Kogallo simple things look complex and complex things look simple !

His contract with kiyovu expired and that means he was a free agent. Also the coach said that he was impressed by his fitness level and technical skills. That means he is fit to play and what remains is transfer certificate from ferwafa so as to start the job of scoring goals.

Congratulations to the boys. They have shown that the team’s crest is more important than the issues they have struggled with the past few days. When did they travel back from Nairobi?Am just curious.

    • @Baba Travis , the team never travelled back from Nairobi bcoz they were never in Nairobi in the first place , that story of the team having packed
their bags , checked out of their kisumu hotel and travelled back to Nairobi was nothing but a sorry creation of The Rumourmongers branch out to milk a situation , not for the benefit of the players as they gleefully and enthusiastically presented but rather their insatiable thirst for blood, unfortunately the week ended badly for them , Gor won and to add insult to injury , never withdrew from cecafa games

Kudos to the players for professionalism, how old is Mustafa, what is injury history? If under 25 and not so prone to injury then Kerr will make him shine coz Gor is where players grow and attract suiters from far and wide.

Some say 20, others 21 while some others say 22 years. Whichever the case, he is below 25.

      • He is 22 but the moment he lives Gor, he will be 37… hehee that’s a joke yawa…
Otherwise congrats to Gor, i’m really looking forward to see the Burundian shine. Alot players come to Gor ordinary, up their game b4 doing the ‘European tantrum’.

On July 5th Kerr will be doing 1 year in Gor. But from the feeling is that under him we have played and won so many matches unlike the other coaches. He knows how to get the best from the players. i can see us having one of our best years. On CECAFA let’s not push too much and risk injuries. The TZ teams have something to prove and Gor is their main target and benchmark so we should know that we still have Yanga and Rayon to play

As fans, can we also appreciate players? If they feel unappreciated the its means everybody/stakeholders. we can contribute something via pay bill and let one of us hand over to the team captain direct. My suggestion.

A good idea. Anelka did itsome times back on behalf of the fans and it really motivated the players.

After all that has been said and done, the main actors here are the players and they must be appreciated and given what they are worth.

Granted, they are professionals and just doing their job..but for them to deliver you must give them a conducive environment to do that.

All the best in cecafa boys..you have done us proud so far!!

Much respect to all bloggers. After two years in the wilderness am now back to join all my comrades in this site. Good people working in IRAQ is stress, worse than Kamiti prisons. Yes you will make money but communication and movement is restricted.
