Gor Mahia inched closer to winning the 2013 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title by beating Thika United 2-1 in a match played at the Thika Municipal Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Former Kakamega Homeboyz and Red Berets midfielder Eric Ochieng opened the scores for the league leaders in the 18th minute after a neat exchange of passes between Edwin Lavatsa and Kevin Omondi, released the ball to the on running OchiengĀ  who beat Thika United custodian Luca Indeche with a low shot.

Sserenkuma

Diminutive Ugandan Striker Dan Sserenkuma doubled their lead in the 36th minute after a nice pass from the impressive Joseph Wanyonyi.

Thika United skipper Dennis Odhiambo pulled one back for Thika United from the spot in the 84th minute after Donald Mosoti fouled David Kingatua inside the box.

Gor is at the helm of the log with 50 points from 25 matches, 7 points more than second-placed Sofapaka who beat Chemelil Sugar by the same scoreline in a match played at the City Stadium this afternoon.

That’s was a BIG win, considering the high stakes, and the fact that its the same Thika that denied us championship last year!
    Go K’Ogallo!!!

Champions elect! Who’s gonna stop us? I say nobody! Right in their backyard! Can’t wait to return home this weekend and watch Kogalo match to a double. I said last year that the pain of losing the trophy on the last day last season would steer as to victory this year. I can’t forget Akumu slumped into a heap in the middle of the pitch at City,in tears alongside his fellow soldiers. Those tears are fueling our match to victory. 18 yrs have been long, it’ll be a sweet and memorable league trophy in Nov. Cant wait!!!

I want 2 ACKNOWLEDGE that Dan”Flava” is now no.4 in the top scorers chart with 7 goals. Attaboy Danny.
Those claiming that bloated EC is doing a good job surely must have 4gotten that this “golden boy”was actually on his way out of GM until GM diehards(wrongly misconstrued as hooligans) chased&beat sense into AR & Bwana, unfortunately damaging some seats.
IF FANS DIDN’T TAKE THAT CORRECTIVE ACTION WOULD WE B CELEBRATING NOW?

Radio stations in Lagos are going mad with the on goings at KPL. A few weeks ago, 99.3 Nigeria Info FM announced that “Go Mahaya” beat “Matare United” 2-0. They just announced a few minutes ago that “Go Mahaya” has beaten “Tika United” 2-1 to inch closer to lifting the Kenyan PL after 18 year wait. It was so refreshing listening to the guys in the studio urguing and debating and praising KPL and describing it as “the most talked about and promising League in Africa”. They all rooted for “Go Mahaya”

  • Its 6pts if Sofapaka n AFC win all their matches, n that include Sofapaka beating Gor. As at now sofa can amass a max of 55pts AFC can tally 53pts. We beat sofa which is my prayer n we take lock them out of the race. we will have 53pts n at that pt sofa will only be able to amasse 52pts. that leaves only AFC who can equal but not surpass our tally. So from all the possibilities a max of 6pts if we lose to sofa any result against them reduces the pts needed. 54 pts can win the league provided we dont lose to sofapaka. GO GO GOR. I pray for a win vs sofapaka

Congratulations boys for job well done. The big one is on 23rd against Sofapaka, that is potentially the deciding fixture. The arithmetic is that if we beat Sofapaka on 23rd the game is over as they will be left with a possible 52 points only and we will be resting on 53. Then only Efusi can reach 53 if they win all their remaining matches, but will they?If we lose to SOFA we will still need 4 points but better 5 and we can take these from Homeboyz and KCB( the abandoned Sony game is not in my mind as I would like us to win without it to make it sweeter). But that is if Sofa will win all their remaining matches.

  • congrats… that u beat thika was just too good. i am now interested in seeing gor beat sofapaka. it’s not about the league but about returning to east and central. mind u, do not take ur eyes of the next match. just the way u have handled thika, stay focused. my deduction is that there was good concentration and some good level of maturity to achieve this. a drub gor would have merely played for a draw. for williamson, i thnk ur just the perfect coach gor needed. can see why ug soccer went on a high during his term. congrats guys, i thnk am on a high mode paka wednesday. and with this steamroller gear gor is unstoppable… and for the sony points, i propose one point for Oguda, one for AFC and one to sony. that oguda can now turn around and claim that the decision is not his to make leaves alot to desire on his administration capability. afc shame on u on claiming points were being awarded to help gor yet u guys were fifty miles behind. and sony for using hooliganism just to escape defeat.

  • That was a sweet victory! Congrats.

Nyamweya, Oguda and company, please award Gor the 3 points. Better still, let us play the GoTV Shield and League game in one match. Winner takes all.

This is just my suggestion and can save the corrupt officers face.

    Great performance!
Special mention to wanyonyi, huyu kijana hachoki, he runs and runs and runs all through the 90 minutes, without reducing the tempo!
My only concern for yesterday’s match was erick ochiengs’ unnecessary yellow card for ‘overcelebration’,we understand that it was his first goal for kogallo, and it was such an emotional moment, but honestly did he have to do that in the 20th minute?
Not to take anything away from the teams’ great performance, I think I am happy and satisfied with the teams’ performance and results.
Am not so sure about thats omwenos’ call on kahata. From where I was, it looked like a dive and maybe kahata should have been booked.
Am also not so sure about our third goal which was disallowed, it looked genuine.
Bobby williamson seems to have come with a winning formula, score goals early and then play ur game, so far so good. This seems to be workinng
@ joe riaga, three points might be enough to win us the league, that is if we win our next match (which is againts sofapaka), and ingwe drop points on the same day.
Otherwise thank u everybody, and we are sooooo happy.
    Ni hayo tu!

Mit Karumo. We can as well donate the three points to Sony since we need them next year. Remember Sony, Chemelil and Muhoroni are our cousins and with them in the league we are sure of 18 points next year. Can we the bloggers think of a better way to motivate the team. Giniwasakawo but have you contributed towards GINIWASEKAWO

@ Ochigah & Ogada Oyamo instead of one off contributions (or even erratic omba omba & personality driven contributions being encouraged by Dan Orig.) why don’t we agitate for a contributory better organized membership structure of 50bob/month i.e 600/year. Let this be payable in advance even 3 times in a year. All payments should be allocated to members 2 b converted into shares whenever GM bcoms a cooperative/company.
In return members shld DEMAND EC b transparent & publish audited a/c.

  • ODUOR12

I believe GM has many fans who would readily contribute if the right structures of transparency & accountability were in place.
    At 50/Month 2,000 members will contribute shs.1.2M/year, 5,000 members shs.3M, & if we get 2 a consistent 20,000 members thats a gauranteed sh.12M/year FROM A BASE OF 50BOB ONLY.
1.HOW MUCH CAN WE RAISE FROM “OMBA OMBA”?
2.Y DOES EC PREFER CHAOTIC 100BOB ELECTION DRIVEN MEMBERSHIP?
LETS USE THIS CHANCE 2 SET UP STRUCTURES 4 PROSPERITY.
