LOOK AT THE NUMBER OF POST ON OFFER ,DO WE NEED TO SATISFY ALL THESE EGOS TO RUN DOWN THE CLUB? WE CLAIM TO BE LEARNED BUT OUR ACTION AND WORDS PLAINLY SHOW THAT WE ARE INDEED SCHOOLED BUT NOT YET EDUCATED.

    Sir/Madam,

I take great exception from the manner in which you updates fans on this blog.

I am never sure whether this is the official site of our great club or not since it is not indicated in the Home page. Another site, gorfc.com is up and running, so which is which?
You must offer an explanation to us since we are the ones servicing this site.

My biggest bone of contention with you is when you report such crucial information courtesy of another site. Shame on you! Infact I want none other than the chairman to respond to this issue. Who should we trust, you or just journalist who were working faithfully for supersport? This is not the first time you are breaking a news item to us coursesy of another site. I expected the Home page to be very simple with only our logo and perhaps a byline to indicate it is the official club.

This great cannot entertain complacent guys like you who only copy and paste just everything. I now see why my comrades are are agitating for a complete overhaul odour structures. Men or woman like you must be thrown to the dustbin of history.

Make no mistake admin. This is business unusual. Nothing will stand of our way when the the interest of K’Ogalo is at stake!

@ pareyio ole lelerue…Kindly be humble and use dignified language and terms to the admin…it does not help when you tell the admin “shame on you”…this is wrong. Search your heart because you have all the characteristics of throwing stones.

Well good people…i am afraid that from the above guidelines it means AR is determined to win the elections…he’ll bring goons and whoever will panga mlolongo behind any other candidate will be ejected…then he wins…HOW SAD.
I give up coz change is not coming on 27th…Too sad!

@Pundit, those are excusses that do not wash at all. For as long as I can remember GM elections have been conducted through mlolongo. I dont see anything wrong in that this time round. We have made noise all season concerning change. Here we go. Let men and women who think managing GM is a childs play, throw thier hats on the ring. I am almost certain that no one is willing to take the hot seat. If you know that AR will hire goons why dont your candidate also hire his/her goons. Thats a useless argument to say the least. For God and my club Kogallo.

@Kosero…respect my argument…again i say mlolongo is old way of democracy because it’s prone to intimidation and am sure you agree with that…i am not for goons at all!!
Well Mr. Kosero…i said that i’ll support whoever wins even if it’s AR..i only have reservations on the mode of voting….well @ Kosero..you dont have monopoly over knowledge neither do you know everything on earth.. i bet you love the current status quo hence you opt to brand other people’s view useless.
Again initially you came out as the reasonable voice on this blog but not anymore…please go back to your old ways and be an example to bloggers. Air your views freely, correct bloggers where necessary but at all times remain respectful lest we conclude that you are a potential stone thrower…this is free advise….this is not to say that am perfect.

  • Pundit, i see it differently. The ‘mlolongo’ may just kick out AR. From past experience, our club supporters have shown they act on euphoria and later start questioning credentials of those they elect. The ‘mlolongo’ method can easily remove a better manager and replace him with an unknown character only for us to start regretting.

The method as u say can be used to intimidate people but in Gor’s case, i think it’s the most democratic method at the moment because it is the current office that is organizing the polls. What would happen if it was secret ballot? People will cry about double voting, hidden ballots, wrong counting, bribery, unknown delegates and all manner of issues.

Let people queue so that whoever is elected can be accepted by the members. In fact i propose that they open all gates and allow anyone who has a Kenyan ID to enter, pay 200/-, queue and vote. Later they should cancel all registered branches, launch county branches and in cities estate branches, order a new recruitment drive for all members with club IDs and raise fresh funds.

Let us build our club from there and agree that from 28th we as bloggers will support the new office fully and bring new ideas into our club.

Ambrose Rachier has done very well in turning Gor Mahia around. However, the problems in Gor Mahia have been other officials that have been voted with the chairman in euphoria. These officials later become major liabilities to the club. These officials do not care about the welfare of the club, players and fans’ ambition. For example during most of our home matches, these greedy officials have been busy with manning entry gates, responsible for gate collections, printing of fake replica jerseys, printing of fake entry tickets etc.

The officials I’m pointing out are Ataro, Mwalimu, Ngala, Wamugo and Colonel. Maybe Ominde and Kilo could be voted as fair officials. The rest apart from the Chairman, Ambrose Rachier should be replaced come 27 Nov 2011.

The destiny of GM is in the hands of fans and I propose that we fans should elect credible official with high level of integrity and transparency.

If officials like Ataro, Colonel, Wamugo, Ngala etc are re-elected into this fourth coming election, I can bet that these hungry-for-money officials will again let the chairman down and Gor Mahia will win nothing come next year KPL season.

To Chairman, if you are re-elected, please open your ears to listen to concerns raised by fans. Provide leadership to the club and do not over-delegate club function. Please borrow a leaf from Leslie Okudo whose presence was felt everywhere in the team. Be on top of the happenings in the club. Do not re-hire mediocre coach like Zico bring a professional coach that will not victimise players. When we criticise ZD, it is not because that we were against him as individual but on his coaching tactics that have been wrong.

Chairman, we need a professional coach that will identify and unearth talents just like Blackberry because there are very many Blackberries are outside there in the country.

A section of fans should also be blamed in the performance of the office and club in general. These fans have been responsible for perpetuating the stealing of hard earned money of the club by participating in stealing of gate collections and printing of fake replicas.

I’m appealing to fans to watch out on people/outgoing officials that are campaigning using money collected from politicians. Yes, it is not bad to use money for campaing purpose but it is wrong to solicit money from politicians because this action is not sustainable at all in the wrong run.

Mr. Mwakio should be voted with Ambrose Rachier as either Vice Chairman or Assistant Secretary General for another 2 years.

Brother Jagem, i beg to differ with the AR stance on the following grounds.

    1. Which Kipimo meter have you used to arrive with accuracy that AR was very good and let down by others.
2.Which kipimo meter have you applied to arrive at your sentiment that others were elected euphorically.
3.Which fans have been eating GM gate collections when we buy tickets religiously at Kenya Cinema and show it at the gate as a confirmation.

For me and many others, we shall vote and accept who ever is declared a winner without branding any body as euphorically elected or so. I stand to appreciate those who elected the current office as these were the people better placed to manage GM in the immediate past.

I will repeat my earlier sentiment based on a Luo saying literally put’ when cattle happens to give birth during your shepherding it shall be credited to you’ therefore the good that we enjoyed under AR’s reign must all be credited and he be remembered for that…The bad like rampant gate collections disparities, Confusion at GM, lack of professionalism, The black berry saga, persistent hooliganism etc must also be inscribed against his name.

However if GM family decides to elect him back i will accept the people’s verdict but soon embark on positive criticism just like with anybody elected.

  • @Agwa Kassam, I agree with Jagem Achiel on some points but beg to differ on others. On euphoria, fans are to be blamed to some extent due to some fans hawking from office to office looking for who and who to be the chairman, secretary and treasurer.

  • ASK NOT WHAT K’OGALO WILL DO FOR YOU BUT ASK WHAT YOU WILL DO FOR K’OGALO

Today I choose to be philosophical. The above quote is attributed to a famous American president and I have substituted the word American with K’ogalo to bring my point closer home.

The much awaited K’ogalo AGM is fast approaching and is already generating alot of heat. In their typical way, a section of our members are alredy floating new names to fill the positions that are up for grabs.

Let me declare my interest. I will vote for AR for chairman and the reasons are obvious and already canvassed by one comrade. While I know I might be holding the minority view, we must be given our say. Let us not forget that our club is bigger than any of us. Inspite of our differences, our resolve remain the same. And that is to promote the interest of K’ogalo.

K’ogalo is richly endowed with men and women with the finest brains . For instance, computer wizards should volunteer to overhaul this site and help itmatch with the current needs. A time to ask the club to do this and that is long gone. Let us take charge of our club destiny.

Once again, the forthcoming AGM must beused to bring about desired changes in our club. Let us not squander the opportunity.. Exercise your civic duty as a fan to elect men and women of substance. Cast your vote wiesly.

    Tukutane kesho Nyayo!

Are there any teams/line ups or is everyone going for the positions solo?

Bro JB i think we all say the same things in different words..
    1. Election made and the way things are conducted must and will always be directed by the leadership..when we say AR to continue then we are saying- Mlolongo system of voting will continue and other good and bad things characterizing his leadership period!
    2. We may also say we want change but again how..though still the change we want must be directed and led by the people we put in the office..there is no short cut out of this..leadership.
3.Be it ownership mode that we wish to alter, guys it will be fairly and well done depending on the people at the helm..look at simple things like importing replica jerseys cannot be done without hue and cry, a simple issue like a secretariat takes years of talking and promises before its finally staged at Nyayo..was it because it hadn’t been built for all those years?

We live the way we chose

Gor should Go Big or eventually they will Go Home. Instead of relying on well-wishers and donors, they need to embark on strategies that provide them with fiscal sustainability. Basically, they need some very innovative thinking at the helm. I’d consider this a 5 minute premise upon which I’d build a business plan, ideally.

Gor needs to operate like a business. They need to go professional. Basically become a business. Al-Ahly, Zamalek, Enyimba, Canon Yaounde, Esperance, Orlando Pirates are some of the most storied clubs in Africa with community based roots. While they have never altered their heritage or association with their respective communities, they have changed the way they operate as soccer clubs. They recognized that their survivability and competitiveness relied on their fiscal sustainability. Sponsors and well-wishers is not the way to go, they are barely a temporary fix. Gor needs to embark on an aggressive agenda that will enable them compete or be viable in today’s market.

A visionary leader and cast. More importantly than passion or affiliation, Gor’s front office needs to possess remarkable acumen in business matters. Unlike current and previous set ups, leaders should be expected to shape the club’s future as opposed to merely filling up positions. A set of qualifications or prerequisites enables the club to have the right people at the helm.

    Long term strategies. Well-wishers and donors seem to be a remedy for a situation that’s not getting any better, besides everyone is getting more frugal than ever because of the economic climate. Well-wishers and donors is not and shouldn’t be an operating plan. Below are examples of some top line marketing ideas, some prescriptive than others;

Stadium. Currently this sounds far fetched but I believe its the key to a financial base. A home stadium allows you to negotiate on how much you can retain from ticket sales. In Kenya, while this not yet developed stadium/image rights is poised to a big business. Coke paid $1.5M to secure the rights to Nyayo Stadium, while this deal was rescinded it shows marketers are looking for advertising space and rights. $1.5M is more than enough to currently operate Gor in a calendar year and if the stadium is team based, the prices is likely to be quite high. Ideally, I’d go for Pepsi, Gor can serve as an entry vehicle for them in the Kenyan market. Besides the rights, the stadium can be rented out for international games, concerts etc. Season ticket opportunities.

Brand equity. A professional set up not only enables Gor to negotiate sponsorship deals but to also secure image rights. This gives them a seat at the table when it comes to TV and media rights etc. While TV rights is always negotiated by the league, I believe in Kenya this market is at its infancy. Gor needs to celebrate its heritage. What makes you a Gor member or fan? A real fan will take a stake in the club. How about an annual fee that gets you a membership card and certificate, free replica jersey and may be 2 free tickets. Basically have a loyalty program. I can’t recall which jersey represents Gor, AFC has the striped blue and white. Gor, needs to decide on a identifier that will unite generations of fans, this leads to jersey sales and contribution to the sustainability bucket. The team should be able to sell more than tickets. A successful brand image is always a cash cow.

PR. While its hardly a fiscal strategy, its a catalyst for all good things. Good PR/Brand image is an attraction for partners and opens doors to other opportunities.

Of course, there are other areas to be explored, I threw these down on paper real fast. Also, I approach this from a marketing perspective, I believe they will have to set aggressive goals in order to be successful. Risk. Care. Dream. And Expect
