Gor Mahia beat Kawangware side Nairobi City Stars by a solitary goal to win the pre-season friendly match at the City Stadium on Saturday 21 January afternoon.

K’ogalo started on a high with Demonde Selenga’s shot being punched away in the 10th minute by Stars keeper only for the rebound to lack a finisher.

The teams settled for a barren draw going to the half time mark with K’ogalo having an upper hand in a match that most of their regular players were rested.

Second half

They however went hunting deep into the City Stars area in the second half managing to net their goal six minutes into the second half courtesy of Baldwin Ngwa.

Both sides however ensured that no more goals were conceded for the the match leaving the matters at 1-0 in favor of Gor Mahia.

The competitive nature of the pre-season matches so far is an indicator of the level of action the fans are likely to be treated to in the coming season.

Gor Mahia is preparing to represent Kenya in the African Confederations Cup. They will also be after the League title and the KPL Top8 trophy. City Stars on the other hand also have the KPL title to chase after.

In the first half, the boy of jersey number 29 was very impressive and even hit the goal boast after outpacing Jakambare.

Our defence is a bit wanting.Nwosu and Wekesa n Anguyo are ‘good’ but can do better.Collins Omondi is little bit too slow and unsure of himself. Our midfield is full of talent and the striking of Ngwa,Midenyo,Selenga and Nzoka is sure of big things. If we get an opponent with a lethal midfield and fast stikers then i see that defence cracking again and again.Wekesa and Anguyo perform poorly under intense pressure therefore more must be done on them if they are the best we got.

@3 Engineer thanks for the advice. I surely will even if I am in Daadab as I was yesterday.

@5 Mwakio I appreciate your patience and understanding for the likes of us who not Nairobi-based but still love and follow the team.

  • There is a lot of competition upfront with enough experience, ve’ a look at this 1.Selenga vs Hugo 2.Midenyo vs Ngwa 3.Lavatsa vs Owitig.4Hugo vs Midenyo.5Ngwa vs Lavatsa.6Selenga vs Ngwa. Coach will have headex, the most interesting is midle where Gatuso,Moses Oti,Rama salim and the rest are.The obvious no one is Mapunda nani anapinga?.

Looking at the way the coach was positioning the players, i can bet he did not want to show the rest of the world what he is plotting, even me personally i would not. This team has great potential especially looking at the mid, Ali Abondo impressed and i imagined Rama salim and Gatusso in the mix then your guess is as good as mine, explosive. Defense we have Musa, Owino, Yusuf Juma, Nasio, Peter Juma oh my God. Striking force the options galore for the coach, Lavatsa, Ngwa, Midenyo, Hugo, Kevo(Daddy. Competition is gonne be stiff. What now remains is the Super cup on 5th for all to see what we made off.

@ Gem Kendgi, I dont think your comment on Collince Omondi is right. This player is always sure of what he is doing and is very skilled. I like the way he played. Keep it up C. Omondi.
