Gor Mahia face sterner test against Nzoia United

Cercidy Okeyo in action against Nzoia

After an easy win against struggling side Wazito FC who are headed straight back to the second tier, Gor Mahia will this weekend come up against much sterner opposition in Nzoia Sugar. The match will once again be played at Kisumu where K’Ogalo remained after their 4-0 demolition of Wazito.

The last time these two sides met was on March 11. On that day, Gor Mahia emerged 1-0 winners. Kevin Omondi was the toast of the day, scoring the all important goal. But Omondi has since lost his form inexplicably after what looked like a resurgence of his once promising career.

This coach coach Dylan Kerr will need to rely own his other stalwarts. In fact he will likely call upon the players who have been delivering of late: Shakava, Kagere, Kahata, Blackberry et al. Many had hoped he would rest these players against Wazito in order to save them for this crucial encounter.

As for Nzoia Sugar, they are currently placed 8th in the standings. They will be determined to put their campaign back on track after losing to Kariobangi Sharks on Wednesday. And they are buoyed by the fact that their talisman, Elvis Rupia, who is the leading scorer in the KPL, has agreed to stay at the club despite multiple suitors.

The match kicks off at 3pm On Sunday.

This matches must be approached with that other international mentality applied in USM Alger or Esperance games.Nzoia have no respect for big teams and Gor should be extra careful with them, otherwise best wishes as the unbeaten run continues.

Eid ul Fitr greetings to all our players, the Tech Bench, EC, Ogango Trailer, Oduor12, Musymo, J’Asego, The Villager, Dan Original, Teddy Entebbe Sofaset, Baba Travis, The Two Kampala Sofasets, Okewkanango, Le Pastre, Ochigah, A Person, Jamigori and all other esteemed members of this forum.

It is true that Nzoia is a more serious force because Wazito’s name itself speaks volumes about their performance in the field. I am however not worried about Nzoia. Our boys are in no compromising mood and this is attributed majorly to the long period that they have been in camp together. The camping is producing tremendous results and EC should take serious note of this for future reference.

In this day and age, camping for an entire team is an expensive undertaking that calls for strong financial muscle. It is for this reason that I still appeal to the EC to exploit our current good run and come up with viable programmes to enhance the club’s financial stability. Match attendance is definitely improving as the team continues to perform well. EC should exploit this with strategies to improve revenue collection and financial accountability and sustain the improving fans turn-outs. I still appeal to EC to pilot the season and E-tickets ideas. K’Ogalo will only be able to sign and retain quality players if good money is available.

If Kogalo remains focused and there are no distractions then we should be fine. Only the EC can derail the team with their shenanigans.

  • Jasego status of the transfer i think so far we can attract many good players and i don’t think any one wants to leave tho any one whose contract is 1 yr to lapse should be engaged now rather than later plus a maximum of 4 players should be added mid 2 striking 1 and defence 1 then renewals should be a wrap…. we are have one of our best season les maximize on all fronts…..ticketing sponsorship contracts merchandise and partnership that will make as grow
